Damn it, I thought this came out at the beginning of January. I just looked at my pre-order and it says 01/26. I have no patience! And my DS5 is taking a big s***. Get this shipped to me, STAT!

Wait, you can’t edit dead zones and such on PS5? Is these accessibility features being a 200 dollar pay wall, probably more in other parts of the world?

Sony’s DualSense Edge is a pro controller done (mostly) right
Slightly worse battery life aside, I’m a big fan of almost everything Sony did to improve on the already-great DualSense.

To that end, the DualSense (for now) is the better option if you play games on PC. The Edge is recognized as a PS5 controller on Steam, but you presently can’t switch profiles or take advantage of the back paddles (I’ve asked Sony when it plans to add full PC support for its customization features, if ever). Still, if you want a pro-grade controller for your PS5 and don’t mind taking a slight hit in the battery department, you’ll probably be happy owning the DualSense Edge.

THE GOOD

  • Clever function buttons
  • Good software integration
  • It’s easier than expected to take full advantage of the added features

THE BAD

  • Worse battery life than the standard DualSense
  • Costs half as much as a PS5
  • Replaceable stick modules use drift-prone joystick tech

"During my testing, I received a low battery notification after about 4.5 hours of gameplay, and the controller lost power just shy of 5.5 hours."
