Never seen the original in its entirety.

Oh do yourself a favor and go watch it. I haven't see it for a while now (about 10 years ago was the last time i think) but it just blows me away when I watch it. To think it was made around the same time as Star Wars is just crazy.

The David Lynch DUNE gets a lot of hate and I'm not sure why. I think it had a troubled production and maybe the pace is to slow for some audiences. I don't think it.

Even the director hates it, but I think he hates the role of directing a big budget film and scaled back to his weird independent stuff.

Yeah it gets on odd rep alright and I'm not sure why either. It was absolutely visionary at the time. There was nothing like for decades afterwards. I read a peice by Lynch on the making of the movie in Mexico and it was a total s*** show by all accounts. They had to bribe local government types, the police and even some gangs and it drove the budget of the movie well over what they wanted to spend. They also couldn't film consecutive days in a row for all sorts of other reasons which appartently had a huge impact.

It came out a year after Return of the Jedi. Star Wars (ANH) came out about 7 years prior to Dune.

I read the book at the beginning of the year and really enjoyed it. The stills from the movie look great.

I'm excited for this. I still love Lynch's take.

Blade Runner 2049 was visually stunning and this is looking very promising as well.

I read the book a long time ago so the lengthy story isn't quite fresh in my memory, but I kind of remember the David Lynch version.
