Yeah, yeah, I know it’s exactly 4 months away, but that isn’t THAT long.

Plus the E3 2018 thread is so.....2018.

PLUS with Sony not being there I figured I’d just put this in the Xbox area, but if the consensus is that it should be in the multi-plat area, then mods feel free to move it.

I found this surprising:

I don’t *think* they’ve officially announced it yet, but I’d assume so.

I think I heard Phil mention it's going to be at the Microsoft theater again in a recent interview.

Xbox boss says Microsoft going ‘big’ at E3 2019 as Sony skips event

It looks like Microsoft will be pulling out all the stops at E3 2019, with a “fun” and “big” presence expected for the Xbox One.
In an interview with director of programming of Xbox Live Larry Hryb (better known as Major Nelson), Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Gaming Phil Spencer discussed a variety of topics.

One of the highlights of the podcast was Spencer’s revelation that Playground Games and Rare are working on new projects. It is unclear if more details will be revealed at E3 2019, but unconfirmed rumors claim that Playground Games is developing Fable 4.
The highligt of the interview was when Spencer talked about Microsoft’s plans for E3 2019.

“This is going to be a fun E3 for us … we had a discussion internally. Should we go big? Should we save some money? No, we’re going to do our thing and we’re going to go and be as big at E3 as we’ve ever been.”
Sony, for the first time ever, will not be attending E3 this year, as it is looking for “inventive opportunities to engage the community.” Shortly after, Microsoft and Nintendo reaffirmed their commitment to the annual video game event.

In the interview with Hryb, Spencer makes it known that Microsoft is not just committed to E3 2019, but also going all-in. With Sony and the PlayStation 4 out of the picture, Microsoft should capitalize on the spotlight that will shine on the Xbox One for the annual event.

Microsoft’s specific plans for E3 2019, which will run from June 11 to June 13 in Los Angeles, remain unknown. In addition to the return of the Fable series, other rumors include the next installment in the Forza racing franchise and more information about Gears 5, the new entry to the Gears of War series. Microsoft is also expected to talk about Project xCloud, its upcoming game streaming service.

What the whole gaming community will be looking forward to, however, is whether Microsoft will take the opportunity of a Sony-less E3 to announce its next generation of consoles. Unconfirmed rumors claim that Microsoft is working on two Xbox One successors, codenamed Anaconda and Lockhart and collectively known as Project Scarlett.

This would make a great showcase to have every third party game that be on Xbox, Switch and Pc to be networked for crossplay.

Is there really much to get excited about? Unlikely Playground games game is coming anytime soon. All their new studios will debut next gen unless Ninja Theory has finished Scalebound or Obsidian port their RPG.

Is next gen getting announced? Doubtful, right?

What I want:

Return of Sakaguchi and Mistwalker
Return of Perfect Dark reveal
Asian division plans explained
New Fable teaser

Three studio acquisitions out of this list: Remedy, Iron Galaxy, DONTNOD, Asobo, Crytek, Platinum or Ready at Dawn.

What's probably gonna happen:

Acquisition: IO Interactive.

They're going to show more info on XCloud. I doubt they're gonna go full next gen hardware info at this E3. They could and def should, but I doubt they will.

It's going to be about Gears 5, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Bleeding Edge, Battletoads, multiplats and updates for Sea of Thieves, State Of Decay 2 again. Maybe a Splinter Cell reveal.

I agree with most here. But I'd wager there's going to be some really surprising acquisitions (2 to 3 at the most) and we'll probably get a few clips from the games the new studios are working on, like, N.T. Obsidian. Time will tell. Nothing from Playground though. Probably get gameplay from Halo Infinite and Gears 5.

Far Cry #"just shoot the bad guy in the face to start this time". :)

Div 2 is March 19 so that shouldn't count. They said there's no AC game for 2019 but they could have one aimed for 2020.

Isn't Skull and Bones an AC spin off game, coming out this year?

I have a feeling turn 10 may just show some of their new tech, what could be perceived as just an update but some cool effects too like ray tracing but at a stable 30fps

Scarlet Project: The Next Two Xboxes Unveiled at E3 2019

Today, jeuxvideo.com is able to confirm that the Scarlet project, the Xbox 9th generation consoles, will be presented on the occasion of E3 2019. And they will not do the same. travel alone.

Things are clear on the side of Xbox, which is preparing its future serenely. In addition to its partnership with Nintendo, Xbox is expected to present two new machines at its E3 2019 conference, already known as Lockhart and Anaconda. The first will represent the entry-level Scarlet project, with lower performance and especially an emphasis on the dematerialized game, which will allow him to dispense with Blu-ray player. In contrast, Anaconda will embody the high-end, with very high performance and a similar price placement to the Xbox One X when it came out, or $ 500. Note, Xbox should present in the coming months a new Xbox One, thinking about the same concept as Lockhart.

During our investigation, we also had confirmation that the data sheets that had leaked at the end of January were close to reality, starting with the presence of SSDs on both machines.

As a reminder, here are the technical characteristics that appeared on the web, last January:

Xbox "Lockhart"

CPU - Custom 8 Cores - 16 threads zen 2

GPU - Custom NAVI 4+ Teraflops

RAM - 12GB of GDDR6 memory

Storage - 1TB NVMe 1 + GB / s SSD hard drive

Xbox "Anaconda"

CPU - Custom 8 Cores - 16 threads zen 2

GPU - GPU Custom NAVI 12+ Teraflops

RAM - 16GB of GDDR6 memory

Storage - 1TB NVMe 1 + GB / s SSD hard drive

Halo Infinite on Scarlet ... and Xbox One

The release date is scheduled for the end of 2020, at the same time as the long-awaited Halo Infinite, which will include the line-up launching the machine. According to one of our sources, the game will also be available on Xbox One, Microsoft seeking to get rid of the concept of generations of consoles. This will also allow the game to reach a wider audience, as it will be available on Xbox One, PC, and 9th generation console.

Ninja Theory in the starting blocks

Waiting, gamers can fall back on the new Gears of War, which should be one of the stars of the E3 2019, or the next game Ninja Theory, recently acquired by Microsoft. According to our information, their first title developed as members of Xbox Game Studios should land in early 2020. That guarantees us in any case a rather enthusiastic E3 2019 Xbox side, especially since this is only about a sketch of the plan already drawn by Phil Spencer and his troops for the big rally of next June.

Contacted by us, Xbox France did not wish to comment.

Maybe an E3 announcement?

Xbox and Nintendo team up: Xbox games arrive on Switch

For several weeks now, rumors have become more and more insistent: what if Nintendo and Xbox were about to become real working partners? A question that playsvideo.com has been working on for almost two months now, and to which we can now provide answers: yes, Nintendo and Xbox will join forces in the very near future. An amazing combination that will not be without consequences.

It all started a few weeks ago, when the program of the Game Developper Conference 2019 appeared on the internet. This is the title of one of the conferences that caught the eye of some industry watchers: "Xbox Live: Growing & Engaging Your Community Gaming Community Across Platforms (Presented by Microsoft)" (Xbox Live: Enlarging and Engaging Your Gamer Community on different platforms). The event, aimed at video game professionals, will be an opportunity for Xbox to unveil a new development kit, through which it will be possible to connect iOS players, Android, but also Switch, to Xbox players and PCs. This will be done through Xbox Live, the online service of Xbox, which would allow a player to find his gamertag and thus his profile of players on all these machines.

Ori and Cuphead land on Switch

An alarm signal that confirmed several information we had discovered a few weeks ago. Executives from Xbox and Nintendo have met regularly, especially in the United States as Xbox and Nintendo of America both sit in Redmond. Conversations that are not quite finished, but of which several decisions have already emerged. Starting with the upcoming arrival of Xbox games on the small Nintendo console. This has already begun since recently, the Japanese manufacturer has announced that Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice would land on Switch; '' 'but according to our information, it will soon be followed by Cuphead and Ori and the Blind Forest.

The big Xbox licenses as reinforcement ... supported by the Game Pass

But that's not all ; because our sources have told us that games bigger than Cuphead and Ori would be traveling; two of them let us know that one of the members of the Golden Triangle Halo / Gears of War / Forza was potentially concerned. We do not know exactly which one, or even in what form it will end, but that is currently part of the discussions that take place between Xbox and Nintendo. Because the possibilities are many: porting current games, or episodes Xbox 360 (more in step with the capabilities of the Switch), exclusive spin-off ... In addition, we were told that Rare games could also appear on Switch, conditional this time and without more precision. We think of course Rare Replay, a collection of old Rare games that would have a complete place on a Nintendo console. Remember that before a difficult separation, Nintendo and Rare have been partners for ten years and that for many players, the two companies are linked to many excellent memories.

In the end, there are hundreds of Xbox games that could be playable on Switch, through the Xbox Game Pass and xCloud, Xbox's streaming game system. According to our information, this solution could be accessible to players this year.

A logical strategy

Anyway, these revelations are ultimately not surprising, because in fact Xbox has every interest in carrying his titles on a maximum of media. Selling consoles in itself ultimately yields little money, compared to selling games or Xbox Live or Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. By bringing its services and brands to other platforms, starting with the popular Nintendo Switch, but also on iOS and Android, Phil Spencer and his troops are sure to reach a very, very large audience. Especially since at the same time, the American giant will continue to produce home consoles by its own means, which does not cut it from its main users.

As to whether Nintendo games could land on Xbox consoles, the question remains open: our sources have preferred not to answer this question; which means they have not totally denied this possibility. When we remember that last December, the CEO of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, said that in the future Nintendo could turn away from the design of consoles, there is something to think.

We should learn more in the coming weeks, but we must also keep an eye on the Xbox E3 2019 conference, where according to our information, it could play big things.

Contacted by us, Xbox France and Nintendo France did not wish to comment.

So, to summarize the X/Nintendo stuff so far:

It's a sourced report. It's not just a rumor they've heard. It's legit and this article has been in the works for months. Everything that follows is backed by sources.

- Ori & Cuphead are coming soon to the Switch the same way Hellblade was.

- Bigger games than those two are also coming, including one from the trinity Halo-Gears-Forza; they're however which one or under which form (port of current gen games ? old gen games ? exclusive spinoffs ?)

- Rare games could come as well, although they precise this specific bit is conditional and they don't have more details on it.

- Hundreds of Xbox games will be playable through Game Pass and xCloud. This streaming based service could come as early as this year to the Switch.

- As for the question of whether Nintendo games could come to Xbox platforms or services, their sources prefered to not answer that question: so that's neither a confirmation that there's a chance nor a denial of this possibility. Non-answer.

Microsoft to Talk Next Gen Consoles at E3 2019

In June, Microsoft will be heading to Los Angeles where the company will be hosting its annual E3 keynote. And even though Sony won’t be there, Microsoft is not holding back on making significant announcements.
Microsoft will not be shipping its next-gen consoles until the fall of 2020 but the company is preparing to talk more about the hardware this year at E3, 2019, according to people familiar with the company’s plans. Don’t expect to hear pricing just yet, but the company wants it to be known that they are moving full steam ahead with the upcoming Lockhart and Anaconda devices and will begin to peel back the onion on these two devices.

Last year, the company teased Halo Infinite and that title will be a launch game for the upcoming hardware. With a brand new game engine, the team behind the game is trying to make the story adapt to decisions the user makes and the game may have more RPG (role-playing game) elements than prior versions of the series.

What else will the company be talking about? GamePass will receive a few updates this year and of course, expect the company to highlight new titles coming to the platform as well.

Plans around the event are still coming together but the company is starting to lock-down the announcements for the keynote. Seeing as the event is still about four months away, the company could change plans and alter their keynote but for now, expect to hear more about the plans for Scarlett family of devices at E3 2019.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that they probably DO have stuff to talk about. Bowing out of E3 is not a new Idea for these companies. Hell, Remember when there was that year without e3?

I still think they will have a separate thing outside of the convention.

They will for sure. MS kinda bailed on E3 last year. They are having their own convention at their own theater, not at E3's convention hall. It would be no different if MS held it at the Microsoft Theater 2 months later with the exact same show.

I think so. They sell you a ticket for the show for $59.99, and then offer you a chair to sit in for a low fee of $9.99, and if you want a cushion on the chair you can subscribe to the seating pass.
