"If you like to promote division and the whole us vs them narrative..."

Is this now a moral issue? Am I a bad person because I categorize games differently than you?

Are people who spend marketing dollars towards specific audiences bad people?

I'm not attacking you. I've heard this sentiment a few times and I've never understood it. Can you elaborate a little bit so I understand your position more clearly?

Nope, you or marketing towards specific interests is not bad. I was just trying to say if you game you're a gamer. The game you play just speaks to what type of game you like to play.

I don't play many online competitive shooters much anymore. These days I'm more into single player and/or co-op games. I game almost every day (much more on weekends) and frequent this forum to gossip with other gamers and visit youtube to check out my favorite channels for gaming. Am I a hardcore gamer? I don't think so but some might see me as such. I just think I'm a gamer is simply someone who plays videogames.

It's nice to consider yourself "just a gamer" but I'm willing to bet you didn't spend much time on Candy Crush, Angry Birds, or Mario Run. Casual games appeal to people who require extremely low skill floors and participate in shorter play sessions.

Conversly, people who played those games probably don't spend much time on Fortnite or Monster Hunter World. (Higher skill floors + longer play sessions)

In practical terms, the industry considers you a hardcore gamer.

Can we talk about Metro?
Please, anything other than forknife. I have only barely played Metro Last Light, and never played 2033, but Exodus is looking great and may end up being my first real introduction to the series. I like the level of weapon customization it has, and I love games where you have the option of going stealth or not. Looking forward to checking it out.

I honestly don't get the Fortnite hate on this forum. It's a really good game.

But in regards to the Epic store, I'm fine with it if it works as intended. But if it's anything like the MS store for PC then count me out. I had to download Gears 4 from the MS store 4 times before it would work.

When someone passive aggressively trolls an entire forum for a year about the game as the greatest game of all-time, in every thread, it gets annoying. If the post was like yours above, nobody would have cared.

Thank f*** he’s banned again.

Anyway, this Meteo looks decent but the problem I have is that the last two gave me motion sickness when I played them. It was really weird.

Had a really hard time making it through Last Light, not sure why. Part of it was if you broke stealth the game was a lot less satisfying. Didn’t like the AI in shootouts at all

lol...

Google Translate:

I watched the bubbling. Impressions are twofold. On the one hand, the withdrawal from the stim is ambiguous, so no one has done so sharply (as far as I can tell). This is new, which could cause rejection. Yes, and such a move pulls the need to install an epic launcher, which could cause some inconvenience to the players, and therefore cause discontent.

On the other hand, the reaction of a certain category of players (onli torrents and all that) is hardly adequate. It seems that people did not want to play, just waited for a reason to pour out their bile. That is, it turns out that we (the developers) for years have been hard and painful, with losses, trying to do something special, but a certain category of players believes that our work is not worth even a couple of minutes to install the launcher. Naturally, it is their life and their right, but then what do they care about the Metro? Obviously, it is not interesting to them. I can only say that they were not our players either, they are not interested in our work, which means that, for example, the opinion of such people is not interesting for me either. What is the point for me personally (and not only) to listen to their opinion?

But! Consider the situation deeper. Someone says that they say they crap Exodus and the previous games in the series, it will make the world better, they will put greedy developers in their place. To this I can answer that in a pinch, if at all all the PC players announce a boycott of the Metro, then the next metro, if it does, is definitely not on the PC. Better or worse, decide for yourself. I personally feel sorry for the loyal fans, yes. But my assessment of the work done personally by me and my friends and colleagues will not change this. I firmly know that almost everyone who pours this dirt on the net is also incapable of a bit of what we have done and hopefully do more. And that means they have no idea what they are talking about.

And further. Despite the fact that during the development I went through each level of each game, hell knows how many times, it is interesting for me to play Metro. I went through the previous parts completely and more than once, and now I am going to go through the whole PC version, to which we make the final touches. For me, this is already a tradition, I always re-pass the game completely before release. Allows you to evaluate the work done. What is it for me? I remember the words of the Prof, which I have heard more than once, both from myself and on the Internet - the game must be made for myself, so that you like it first. And only schA begin to understand this fully - no clever man can shake me about the value of the work that we have done. And there will always be disgruntled.

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2018/12/steam-now-gives-its-biggest-developers-a-bigger-cut-of-the-revenue/

"In an announcement posted late Friday, Valve said that it would lower its usual 30 percent take to 25 percent for any game's earnings beyond $10 million (including "game packages, DLC, in-game sales, and Community Marketplace game fees"). The platform fee reduces further to 20 percent for earnings that surpass $50 million."

So basically, your game sells well, you pay less. Your game sells very well, you pay even less. No idea if there's another tier above that but there you go.

You are now debating whether or not an 8% difference is worth trading in visibility and platform preference over.

For reference, it would take 833.334 copies sold to reach 50m priced @60 USD. That's complete base price, without 30% subtracted. With would make that number 1.190.477 copies sold. Something very reasonable and likely to happen if your game has enough following and interest.

I hope the next Metro game on PS5 is in VR. The atmosphere in these games is amazing and it would probably be scary actually.

Great show this time around...damn Shadow of TR on Gamepass already...I got it for cheap last November, good game.

Funny, but that was just one annoyed dev that said that. There was an official response that basically said that its bulls***. It was actually a great response that respected both the upset employee and the fans, honestly. I like when companies don't throw their people under the bus.

Yeah, yeah, I know it’s exactly 4 months away, but that isn’t THAT long.

Plus the E3 2018 thread is so.....2018.

PLUS with Sony not being there I figured I’d just put this in the Xbox area, but if the consensus is that it should be in the multi-plat area, then mods feel free to move it.

I found this surprising:

In before Val complains about it being too early.

Xbox at Microsoft Theater again?

Xbox boss says Microsoft going ‘big’ at E3 2019 as Sony skips event

It looks like Microsoft will be pulling out all the stops at E3 2019, with a “fun” and “big” presence expected for the Xbox One.
In an interview with director of programming of Xbox Live Larry Hryb (better known as Major Nelson), Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Gaming Phil Spencer discussed a variety of topics.

One of the highlights of the podcast was Spencer’s revelation that Playground Games and Rare are working on new projects. It is unclear if more details will be revealed at E3 2019, but unconfirmed rumors claim that Playground Games is developing Fable 4.
The highligt of the interview was when Spencer talked about Microsoft’s plans for E3 2019.

“This is going to be a fun E3 for us … we had a discussion internally. Should we go big? Should we save some money? No, we’re going to do our thing and we’re going to go and be as big at E3 as we’ve ever been.”
Sony, for the first time ever, will not be attending E3 this year, as it is looking for “inventive opportunities to engage the community.” Shortly after, Microsoft and Nintendo reaffirmed their commitment to the annual video game event.

In the interview with Hryb, Spencer makes it known that Microsoft is not just committed to E3 2019, but also going all-in. With Sony and the PlayStation 4 out of the picture, Microsoft should capitalize on the spotlight that will shine on the Xbox One for the annual event.

Microsoft’s specific plans for E3 2019, which will run from June 11 to June 13 in Los Angeles, remain unknown. In addition to the return of the Fable series, other rumors include the next installment in the Forza racing franchise and more information about Gears 5, the new entry to the Gears of War series. Microsoft is also expected to talk about Project xCloud, its upcoming game streaming service.

What the whole gaming community will be looking forward to, however, is whether Microsoft will take the opportunity of a Sony-less E3 to announce its next generation of consoles. Unconfirmed rumors claim that Microsoft is working on two Xbox One successors, codenamed Anaconda and Lockhart and collectively known as Project Scarlett.

Is there really much to get excited about? Unlikely Playground games game is coming anytime soon. All their new studios will debut next gen unless Ninja Theory has finished Scalebound or Obsidian port their RPG.

Is next gen getting announced? Doubtful, right?
