E3 2021 - June 12 Through June 15

By June, it'll be safe to have E3 with 25% - 40% capacity (it arguably is safe for those numbers right now).

I think that physical E3 is important because you get to actually play the games... however, I just don't see it going back to normal at this point.

That said, with everything going digital, I have to actually question what's the actual point of the E3 branding? Can't developers just release timed videos and demos on their own? I can honestly say that I think that E3's time may have come and gone. I think that maybe I no longer actually care. The social aspect of these events are pretty cool, but I can see more Xbox FanFest and similar PlayStation fan events being separate experiences in the future, going forward.

I think one of, if not, the biggest part of e3 was the networking. Gaming and the gaming media is still pretty small when compared to other entertainment events. I guess the closest thing this may be compared to is a film festival.

You are correct, and E3 used to be industry-only. Honestly, I've been to one of those way back when, and it was a lot more fun and relaxed than the overblown sh!t-sandwich, free-for-all they turned it into by the last time I went.

I propose that E3 should just go back to industry people only, and do the FanFest types of events COMPLETELY separate, and limit the number of people!

Honestly, I know these are different times, but I wanna vomit when I think about being packed into those huge buildings, and could barely move. I couldn't believe that this was even within fire code! So awful!

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which organizes the annual games industry showcase, said the event will be returning in digital form with backing from partners including Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, and Koch Media.

The "all-virtual" E3 2021 will run from June 12 to June 15 and be free for attendees. It will also be "more inclusive."

The ESA expects E3 to revert back to its traditional in-person format next year, with the company explaining it "looks forward to coming back together to celebrate E3 2022 in person."

It would be amazing to have access to these demos on XBL. I can't believe it hasn't happened yet. Talk about missed opportunities. Let us play the demos and see the trailers.

Early access demos might be a good use of xCloud, IMO. Developers could also take in feedback.

3rd party exclusives is not all that awesome.

They are killing it with zeroth party games right now. (That being said, I'm loving gamepass and since I don't have a ton of time to play anymore, I'm never going to get to finish everything I want to play).

I’m gonna guess and say if there is a separate Bethesda this year it’ll be the last, only to showcase distant future game, then the two timed exclusives on PlayStation and finally tease the big guns releasing soon at the Xbox showcase with bigger trailers.
