EA Access on Xbox One.

My worry is that this leads them to push dlc more and their pay to win model with ultimate teams, etc.
I can definitely see members of this service getting access to DLC and stuff like that.

You mean those silly billies who have every major talent in the world and then get spanked by a second rate team cause their team chemistry is in the toilet ?

Sounds like the games will be controlled. They'll rotate the titles. We need a further breakdown of this.

So it sounds more like it's limited time "demos" of the game. Only the demo is the full game. Wonder how long rotations will be.

I wouldn't expect to see new releases on the service. It'll prolly be stuff that is 6 months/halfway into its lifespan (for annualized releases) or if a game is doing poorly at retail expect to see it on the service sooner.

I'm in. Many upcoming games I want by them, so the $30 annual fee will be covered by the free games of what I don't have and 10% off of those I buy. Win, win all around.

Agreed. It HAS to be something like this...there is no way they'll have their whole catalog open at all times.

......right??

But they said only those title for the beta but unlock everything on the vault when is out of beta.

This is starting to sound like onlive cloud service. Which is a good thing. I hope all the publishers team up with MS on these kind of service like NETFLIX.

Meh. So you'd have to download the games first and then once the game is removed from the rotation, you got to delete it?

To be honest, for £5 a month I would still take advantage of certain game line ups. I mean I am not huge Hockey or NBA gamer, but for that little money I would gladly pay it for a few unlimited weeks for both those titles 6 months after release.

I bet there were Executives at Block Buster who said that this Netflix thing is dumb or a scam. Enough said I hope, new is not always bad.

I thought it was too good to be true, then I heard its only trail version of the games.

I think this is perfect for all gamers.

Its not trials (unless you read some new info not in this thread), think it more as a rental service. You pay your money and get full access to the games for as long as they are available. I assume the game will be up for at least 2 weeks. More than enough time to finish games.

Oh most definitely, even if its only 4 or so mediocre games that's still worth $5 a month, you can't even buy crap games for that price. I was just saying dont expect the games to be their AAA new releases for that price.

Oh for sure. I understood that. Another thing is the early access to games. I mean I would kill a bunch of homeless people to get my hands on DA:I 5 days early. $30 a year with that perk and a few games could be worth it. There are still plenty of positives despite the disappointments.

Exactly, it's only $30 a year I don't know what people expect for that above what being offered, which is pretty generous for EA. Though in the long run EA will prolly find a way to fvck it up...

Ok, correction, allow trails of new games. Unlimite access to 4 games so far.

From gamespot:
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/ea-announces-5-month-xbox-one-subscription-program/1100-6421373/

Another component of EA Access is that with a subscription, you'll get to play trial versions of new EA titles "up to" five days before their official release date. This begins with upcoming sports games like Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, and NBA Live 15, as well as Dragon Age: Inquisition.

If you decide to upgrade to the full version of a game, your progress will carry forward, allowing you to pick up right where you left off. EA Access subscriptions will also be sold in physical stores, including GameStop, as well as online retailers like Amazon.

So you will need to play the new games. Its not auto upgrade when there are new versions of a game, like Adobe CC for their softwares or something.

From EA rep.

An EA representative tells us that the company has no plans on removing games from The Vault, which means the library of titles available will grow over time. Additionally, if your membership lapses, your progress will be saved should you decide to re-up later.

That clears that up as I was worried as I probably get this and trade in BF4 then as no point keeping the disc version.

EA has added some additional clarity regarding pre-release trials that will be available for a number of games. Each one will be different depending on the game.
"In some titles you’ll be able to play one of the game's modes for a limited time, while other times you can jump right into the full game," a recently posted FAQ document reads. "And since you’ll always be playing the real game, any progress you make will carry over so you can pick up where you left off on launch day."

On Major Nelson's blog, there is some additional detail that suggests how this might be implement for games like Dragon Age: Inqusition. "Starting 5 days before release, you’ll be able to try the game for at least two hours and then save your progress," he writes. "Once you purchase the digital or physical copy, you can use your save game and continue the experience."

As for purchasing an Access membership at retail, different stores will offer the option in different territories. In the United States, Gamestop (Disclaimer: GameStop is Game Informer's parent company) will carry them. In Europe, they'll be available at GameStop and online via Amazon. In Canada, you can purchase a membership from EBGames.

That also makes sense as giving 5 days on Dragon Age seem crazy because someone could easily beat the game in time, so can see why only 2 hours but games like FPS/Sports doesn't matter as those games have infinite replay value so 5 days make sense.

Seems like a great deal to be honest. The early access to games seems to be the best perk. I wonder how much of the game you can play though...

I'm unsure, gonna let a few try it first and then jump in. I always buy Fifa for instance on the Playstation but for $30 a year I will happily get the service on the Xbox One a big factor is going to be when 'the vault' is updated.

$30 a year? Assuming the games are pretty good this is an awesome deal. I'll be up for it. Paying $2.50 a month to have access to some good year old games which I'd never buy is a steal. I'm not a big enough football or soccer fan to buy Madden or FIFA at even bargain bin prices, but paying a bit of $$$ for a bunch of year old games fits me fine.

Early access is great too as it replaces gimped demos.... which seem to be fewer and fewer on all platforms the last 2-3 years. I'd take a full game trial over a 6 month old beta build demo any day.

The only thing that may be weird is if the EA Access freebies are ever duplicated with a Games for Gold month. In which, it would be a waste of a choice.

Anyone know if the freebies are permanently free (assuming you keep subscribing to EA Access), or if the access is gone if they take the game off the list.

I believe GFG and PS+, you still have access as long as you keep subscribing. I'm assuming EA's is the same.
