Today we’re revealing a new way for gamers to play more EA games. This is something we’ve never done before and we’re excited to share it with you.

We have partnered with Microsoft to deliver EA Access, an all-new monthly (or annual) membership for gamers exclusively on Xbox One that starts at just $4.99 a month. The service is being rolled out in beta to a limited number of players today, but it will launch for everyone on Xbox One soon. At EA, we are always looking for new ways to make it easier for gamers to play more EA games across all platforms, and we are excited about what EA Access will offer to players on Xbox One.

EA Access membership unlocks The Vault, a collection of EA’s biggest games on Xbox One ready for you to download and play. During the beta, gamers will have unlimited access to four great EA games: FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2 and Battlefield 4, with more titles being added soon. That’s over $100 worth of games for $4.99 a month. You can play these EA favorites as much as you want with the click of a button.

EA Access is a totally new way for you to play more of the games you love, for less. Here’s a rundown of the additional benefits EA Access members will get:

  • Awesome Value– Besides the great games in The Vault, EA Access members will save 10% on purchases of EA digital content for Xbox One offered through the Xbox Games Store. From full digital-download titles like the upcoming Dragon Age™ Inquisition or NHL®15, to additional membership services such as Battlefield 4 Premium or even FIFA Ultimate Team points, it’s all 10% off for members.*
  • Play First – Membership in EA Access lets you experience trials of new EA games up to five days before the release date.* It starts with Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA LIVE 15, and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but more are on the way. If you decide to buy the game, your progress will carry over so you can pick up right where you left off.

You can join EA Access for just $4.99 per month, or you can purchase an annual membership for $29.99 per year on Xbox LIVE®.

Soon, fans of GameStop will be able to purchase their EA Access membership in local retail stores. GameStop and Amazon will also carry EA Access memberships for Xbox One gamers across Europe, as well as EB Games in Canada.

Excited to check it out? EA Access will launch on Xbox One soon. You will find more information on the program at the EA Access website. Be sure to follow EA Access on Facebook and Twitter as well.

Stay tuned!

Seems like a pretty sweet deal.

So, wait, I get complete access to those four games, minimum, for $30 a year? The big question will be, how microtransaction will these games become now?

Not a bad idea on their part. Add some more titles and it might be worth it.

Sounds too good to be true. Charging a yearly rate for their sports games would hurt them, at least for people who buy more than one sports game and buy them every year.

$29.99 for the year.

This is huge. I mean, megaton huge. This seems way too good to be true.

It is. But they can sweeten the pot by adding more titles. This seems like a netflix for EA game does it not?

Hmmm...I am a little suspicious. $30 a year and I can play multiple games for as long as I want ? where is the catch ? Sign me up if this is no nonsense legit.

Probably too many sports games for my liking, but I'll have to see what kind of stuff ends up on it. Sounds like a good deal though.

I can't see the downside to this. Especially as their catalog of games grow. Imagine getting all Ea developed non sport games and all EA Sports titles for 30 a year.

If you annually buy 1 EA title then this appears to be a discount with tons of perks. Even with DLC being a different tier or on it's own, it still sounds like a good deal.

Just sounds too good to be true.

Heck if they only put the sport games on there, its a bargain.

There is not a downside, but come on. Imagine getting FIFA 15 is like 15 million unit seller each year, and now you can play it for half the price, or $5 if you just play a little and leave it. Has to be a catch somewhere.

I need one of you guys to be a guinea pig and test it out for the rest of us when it becomes available.

Hmm, I wonder if you can share these games using the home console trick. Either way it would still be a good deal. I know I'm going to want to play Madden eventually and I could trade in my copy of BF4. I think I might give this a shot. Probably won't get any EA title as GWG though.

If there's no catches then that's a great deal, If it's exactly as described above then that's great value.

Let's control our hopes here. This is EA we're talking about. Like menace is saying, there has to be a catch.

I know nothing about how games are distributed to brick and mortar stores and what EA's cut is vs. this. Plus, you may get another slice of folk who can't afford new titles or try to trade. They may be able to swing this. Then...once you get them in a subscription, people rarely cancel it.

Just guessing. I'm sure they did their homework.

No way their sports titles are on there day one, they will probably debut on the service a month or two before the new one comes out

As part of the EA Access Services, members with an active subscription are offered (1) the ability to play a limited trial of certain EA Content 5 days prior to the date that EA Content is otherwise available on the Xbox Marketplace (“Play First”), (2) discounts on EA Content offered through the Xbox Marketplace (“Discounts”); and (3) access to a limited library of certain EA Content (“Vault Title(s)”) for unlimited online play (“Vault Access”) for the duration of their availability in the Vault. Limitations and exclusions may apply. For upcoming EA Content eligible for Play First and Discounts, and for current EA Content available in the Vault, and current details on other membership benefits, see http://www.ea.com/eaaccess. Certain EA Content may be excluded from Play First, the Vault, and/or Discounts; see http://www.ea.com/eaaccess for details on such exclusions as they become available.

Please note, the purchase of an EA Access subscription is made with Microsoft and not EA. In order to subscribe to EA Access, you must complete Microsoft’s purchase process. You will be bound by Microsoft’s terms and conditions, including Microsoft’s Terms of Use (http://www.xbox.com/legal/livetou). Please contact Microsoft with any questions regarding your purchase.

Possibly. Looking at the EA access website FAQ it seems the content is hand picked by EA. So it is not going to be their entire library.

I suppose that is true....but wouldn't it eventually make up the difference? I suppose they crunched the numbers heavily before offering this, so they know what they are doing....but it seems like a really good deal.

So naturally I don't trust them. :)

My guess is that games are going to rotate in and out of the Vault based on their TOS. I might bite when it includes more games I'm interested in playing. I can't get into sports games.

I honestly don't know what to make of this.

Just read what Zcyth posted. Hand picked content. Limited duration. Basically it is like a poor rental service. Hopefully they leave the game and conet up for long periods of time, but this is a wait and see.

My worry is that this leads them to push dlc more and their pay to win model with ultimate teams, etc.

The only legit thing I could see is them wanting to rope people in who typically buy a sports game every other year or less.
