Wait, what's that? It's not April Fools Day yet? Huh, okay. There's a rumour doing the rounds that Dark Souls developer From Software is working on a new game in collaboration with A Song of Ice and Fire series author George R.R. Martin. Yes, you read that correctly. Courtesy of internet scuttlebutt Liam Robertson in collaboration with the YouTube channel Spawn Wave, the rumour suggests that From Software is working on a new open-world IP. George R.R. Martin is one of the lead writers on the title, which will have you visiting a variety of kingdoms and stealing the abilities of its leaders once you kill them. Oh, and the cherry on top is that it'll be announced at E3 2019

Well, he does like to kill off lead characters... so makes sense he'd work with a dev that makes games where you die a lot....

Stoked to see this actually happening! I have always said that the only way to really do that story and (most importantly) that world justice would be in a massive AAA Skyrim style RPG video game.

He will never finish more than 1 more anyway so f*** it

Yeah, I don't think he can figure out how to wrap up all the story lines he has going. Winds was supposed to come out three years ago, and since then he's written multiple books, television scripts, this video game story, and done a ton of appearances/panels. I stopped caring to be honest.

A person familiar with ongoings at From Software has told Gematsu that the project—said to be known internally as “GR” (Gematsu has been asked to only share the acronym) and in development for the past three years—is an open-world title (with horse riding) and collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin published by Bandai Namco, which will be officially announced at Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference. While we have not been able to verify this information through additional sources, we have decided to share what we have heard in light of R.R. Martin’s blog post.

Only played a few hours of Demons Souls, most of Bloodborne (probably only a couple required bosses left), and recently started Dark Souls but didn't get far before not touching it again. Bloodborne definitely my favorite of all of them but idk. Bloodborne I think I just got bored of it from playing it so much. I'm willing to give Sekiro a chance sometime to see what I think.

Nioh on the other hand I beat and absolutely loved, so not sure why since they are obviously similar. Maybe just a smoother/more fluid combat system. Anyways I am interested to see how this turns out.

"Dynamic day/night cycles, lighting, weather, I'll even throw you a bone and say wildlife, enemies out in the open world that change their positioning, both big and small. Things that make the world feel like it lives and breathes and doesn't just exist as your playground and while they're relatively minor when looked at as singular elements. You start to take all of these elements and put them together and ultimately what you have is something that again, shares the same DNA as past games, but culminates into something different"

Again I ask... Mods change the thread title to Elden Ring.
