Over 50 titles included.

Surprised its not MS or Sony buying them at that price.

I would imagine MS was busy with the Bethesda and/or Activision deal while Embracer were locking this down.

Do we know what the 50 IPs are? If not I'm sure a reddit use will have a list by day's end.

How many of those titles really stand to make a good amount of money? I saw someone on another forum that was "shocked" Sony didn't go for Tomb Raider, they already have Uncharted etc so that would ne too similar to a game they already make.

MS probably doesn't want to do anything else until the Activision/Blizzard deal is finalized and that won't be for over a year, it's still slightly questionable if the FTC will allow the deal to go through. A lot of the titles included in that deal are basically dead IP at this point so I'm not sure how much value is really there.

Over a year, nah. The Acti deal will close this year, maybe early 2023.

At that price its a steal. Embracer, just picked up a very talented group of developers and a slew of valuable IPs.

Seems more than likey Square Enix just wanted to off load their western devs and IPs. I guess they wlil be out of scapegoats when titles don't " perform up to their expectations".

The acquisition wars are in full swing and I don't believe this will be the last big name pick up of the year.

Anyone but 10cents is a win for me.

I fully believe Microsoft would have been all over this if they were not waiting for the Activision deal to close. I believe I read that they wouldn’t be able to purchase anyone else until after the deal closes.

"The Transaction will assist the Company in adapting to the changes underway in the global business environment by establishing a more efficient allocation of resources, which will enhance corporate value by accelerating growth in the Company's core businesses in the digital entertainment domain. In addition, the Transaction enables the launch of new businesses by moving forward with investments in fields including blockchain, AI, and the cloud. The move is based on the policy of business structure optimization that the Company set forth under the medium-term business strategy unveiled on May 13, 2021.

The Transaction will also provide an opportunity to better align our overseas publishing function with our organization in Tokyo, revisit the current governance structure and associated reporting lines, and advance integrated group management with the goal of maximizing the worldwide revenue generated from future titles launched by the group's studios in Japan and abroad.

Going forward, the Company's development function will comprise its studios in Japan, Square Enix External Studios, and Square Enix Collective. The Company's overseas studios will continue to publish franchises such as JUST CAUSE, OUTRIDERS, and Life is Strange."

This makes me laugh, so they got rid of the devs and IP to double down on their previously announced focus on NFTs and Blockchain, a market that's down 92% since September and isn't looking good.

If Embracer are the THQ Nordic guys, color me excited. They've done a good job of bring classic games to modern platformers either as a port or as a remaster/remake.
