About 6 years ago or so, I didn't have Gmail address at that time. One of my friend helped me setup on Xbox Live and went with Hotmail email address. Now fast forward to today. I don't use Hotmail anymore. Gmail is my major email nowadays. Now, changing from Hotmail to Gmail isn't easy for me to do that, even on Xbox.com. As soon as I got to Xbox.com and clicked "My Account"; entered Gmail address and, all of suddenly it gave me newbie gamertag for 360. In my mind I was like "Uh-oh". Anyone care to explain how to change email address? It's quite frustrating for me right now.

probably will have to contact them knowing Microsoft.

Try changing your billing information?

Tried to change the email and this message is what I'm getting:

We have a waiting period for the updates to take effect. On 10/12/2013, we'll delete your old security info: [my old email address]. Once this is deleted, you'll be able to verify your account with info you have access to. If you didn't make the updates, or if you still have access to the above info, cancel the updates.

Huh? Do I have to wait until 10/12 for it to take effect? Why is it taking so long? Oh boy...

Yeah I did just that. The thing is I just recently got new PC tonight and hooked it up, using my Gmail address on Win 8. On 360, my email is Hotmail. Both of them "think" I'm a two persons. So looks like I'll have to call Xbox tomorrow about that issue.

https://account.live.com/

Sign in there with your hotmail. Then go to alias and add your gmail alias. Then make your gmail alias the default alias, then delete your hotmail alias. Sign into Xbox with your new alias. That is how I do it.

I tried that. It works. One problem: Because I accidently entered Gmail address at "My Account" on Xbox.com, it gave me a newbie gamertag (AwakeBark2422). Is there any way to use my currently gamertag (SmurfboyDC), using Gmail? Whatever I enter Gmail, my PC "thinks" I'm AwakeBark2422, not SmurfboyDC. :(

@SevenDead1ySinz, I think I'm close! One very last step says that the Gmail.com has been taken under AwakeBark2422. Is there any way to actually delete that gamertag/account? I'm still searching on Xbox.com...

If you're gmail is already tied to a gamertag you need to create a dummy ms account to transfer that GT too so that your gmail address is open. Don't think you can delete GT's or MS account.

So, Smurfboy GT is tied to MS A
AwakeBark is tied to Gmail
you need to create MS B account (just make it basic with dummy info)
Follow the instructions to switch Awakebark to MSB,then switch Smurfboy to gmail following the same info.
