Official Thread Everwild (Viva Piñata like?)

I Definitely hope its someting third person but in the vein of a Zelda-esque type, exploration game. Something of that nature. Maybe some survival elements ala SoD I and II?

I'm with you.
Hopefully in the vein of Zelda.
Those are the type of games Xbox needs next gen to compete with the heavy hitters Nintendo and Sony's 1st Party deliver.

Please don't be an MMO game.

well, that is what I am hoping. Something like a destiny style.

1 of the few games that looked Great at the XB S*** Show.
Not enough to make me buy an XSX.

This is the only game that has me a little bit excited for XGS.
Nothing else to say.

WTF is going on at MSGS? Halo Infinite loses another director and now this? Something has to be going on there for this to keep happening.

I agree, but it might not be a bad thing...? Halo 5 was ‘meh’ and Rare has hardly put our anything good (although SoT is finally a lot of fun now...took a long time though).

Change might be good, but at the same time, it does seem suspicious

It seems most that are leaving have been with their studio for a very long time
Just not a good thing when people keep leaving half way through projects, it's different if their work is already done and they aren't needed anymore but creative directors should probably stick around through the end or at least close to it and this game is nowhere near that yet. Halo lost what like 3 high profile people so far if not more? There has to be some issue with how things are being run at MSGS for this to keep happening.

Oh yeah the guy who was in charge of Halo 5 should have been fired after that game not kept for years before he left on his own, that in it self could be a one off but they've lost two more high profile people on Halo since (I think it was 2, could be more)

RARE I agree they've been fairly meh for a while, this was the game many were interested in though including myself and the fact that they still didn't even know what kind of game it was going to be a couple of months ago is a huge red flag, it basically means all of the trailers have been tech demos and a real game is still likely a couple of years away.

I think you’ll find the guy from 343 was fired. Somebody had to take the fall for being way behind schedule. Probably a case of jumped before pushed.

Yes someone higher up, I'd wager Matt Booty or Phil himself might be reassessing the studios and cleaning house/cutting fat. Long over due imo.

It sounds like someone is cleaning house at microsoft.

Just seems like odd timing considering where these projects are in development, you'd think that would be done between projects or at worst in the middle when you figure there is no point in continuing with that person. Halo has had a few pivotal people leave the project so I don't think that bodes well for that game. When it comes to Everwild this game has a beautiful and unique look even if it's not the most technically demanding looking game but when they said this year that they hadn't figured out what kind of game it was yet I couldn't believe it. It made me wonder if they had actually built anything beyond these in engine demos for the game, we saw the first trailer almost a year ago so who knows how far they are in development to begin with. I just have a feeling this game whatever it is will be a late 2022 game at the earliest.

I think much of this is likely from the acquisitions. Even though they were in different studios, once they brought in Zenimax they immediately had a huge influx of talent and a great deal more flexibility in terms of moving people around, or out as the case may be.

The fact that Everwild doesn't even have a purpose doesn't speak well for a director, imo. Wtf are they doing. Seemed listless to me.

Halo 5 MP is still kicking to this day. They blew the story to a degree, but they added some much needed gameplay improvements if you ask me. Game is still great fun, and I do like a number of the new characters, and the Novels are very good.

What's going on is one director was replaced and the other moved on. 2 things are not related. Using correlative evidence like this to draw a conclusion that there's a larger problem at MGS is the same kind of thinking that got us taught the food pyramid. Or is like a study that shows the link between shark attacks and eating ice cream. Two studios on opposite sides of the world in completely different development situations. Rare is doing extremely well right now and a lead decided to leave early in a project. We don't know if it's for personal reason, a better job opportunity or because he was asked to. Either way the studio has been well led and recruiting a lot of talent.

that and perhaps one or two of the three from 343 seem to be on good terms as they got recognition of their departure, as did this dev from Rare.

The story for 5 was told terribly in the game and it didn't match what the advertising teased either, it was by far the worst campaign in the series IMO with 4 as the second worst. I really do think they need to take the IP away from 343 and give another studio a try with the campaign portion at least maybe and let 343 handle MP since that seems to be the part people like.
