Experience In Replacing TV Components

Hey guys, my friend has an LG 42LM3700 3d smart tv. The volume on his set goes to 100 as soon as the tv is powered on. Also the channels keep flipping all the way through without stopping. The tv is useless right now and repairs are ridiculous.

Do any of you guys have any experience with this sort of thing? If so what part could be the issue? EBay has parts for way cheaper than any repair shop would charge.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try unplugging for 5 minutes then re-plugging or try unplugging then re-plugging then holding the power button down for about 1 minute then releasing.

It almost seems like the buttons on the tv are stuck or the panel has gone bad.
