I think there's a level of poetry in this opening paragraph of IGN's review that is rarely seen. The chap obviously loves games, especially FF. Kudos to them.

Decided to hold off on FFXV for the time being. I don't know why, i just don't feel like playing a 60+ hour game right now and if i'm not all in i don't like to start a game.

I'm in the same boat as you. Tried it but never sunk myself into any of the games. The Conan bit is sort of how I feel about the series although the mundane tasks can be somewhat humorous without intention which in itself can be amusing. I've felt this way about most Japanese-style games in how they translate into Western culture. Hatoful Boyfriend is the last one I played and that about sums it up.
Game runs brilliantly compared to the demos, even on Xbox. It's beautiful.
The bromance is wonderful so far, and exploration is a lot more fun than I expected! Some of the landscapes remind me of FFXV expansion, well thought out.
The combat is... I'm not sure yet. I'm on the fence. The AI is great though, especially when attacking more mobs. Only about 18 hours in so far though.
This game is like a breath of fresh air though. I am sooooo sick of gun games.

haha similar thing happened to me, went to watch a trailer for FF and the commercial was the same trailer I wanted to watch lol
So it's fun? I'm really considering this but I've been a little thrown about impressions from the later parts of the game where it seems to get corridor based.
I haven't made it to that point but for now the combat is fun for me.....I really like the group fighting and the talking that goes on between them.......the story isn't the greatest though .
As the forums 'Bro-est Bro' and resident brospert, I feel like I should point out how bromazing the bromance is in Bro-nal Bro-antasy.
While you're Bro-ing out, and you decide to bro-tack some seriously non Bro-nsters, I feel like, after bro-slaying the mob with your Bro-bro's, it should, say like, 'Bro-Tality' in the most bro-est font (Or the Bront) ever.

This is the first FF game I've gotten in a long time and I'm enjoying it, I'm so glad it's not turn based. One thing that I think that places like Neogaf are going overboard about though is the graphics, they are fine but nowhere near mind blowing and definitely not the best looking game on consoles as some there are saying, hell it's not even close to the best looking open world game and I'm playing it on PS4 Pro, hell Watch Dogs 2 looks quite a bit better IMO and it allows more freedom to travel and has more going on.

Is anyone else having problems with the audio on Xbox? The music keeps cutting out these last two days... the sound effects work fine though.
This game has been without a doubt my biggest surprise game of the year....I hate the FF series and I love this game.
This game os in my top 3 of the year.
I love RPG's, but I was bitter about it not being turn based.
I probably bitched about this game more than anyone on these forums... but o love it.
Would I change the combat? Yes. Is the 13th chapter utter bulls***? Yes.
Still better than anything else out there.
Also, if you are experienced with FFlore, don't expect magic or summons to be useful.
Combat is rubbish.
