The Xbox One will be getting an update on February 11th. A few of the concerns most of us have will be addressed. There will finally be a battery life indicator. There will be also a way to see what games are taking up what space on the HDD. No word on if we'll be able to manage the storage completely but there will be queue management and separated queues for games and apps also. Microsoft also said there will be "...several surprises in store that we think you'll love."

The update WILL NOT have any party or or multiplayer update. That will come in March prior to Titanfall. That's cutting it close if you ask me. I hope they do a lot of testing on their ends to make sure it all goes smoothly for what's shaping up to be the most anticipated Xbox One title this far.

I’m excited to be able to share details with you today about several product updates we’ll be delivering for Xbox One starting next week. The team has been really excited to see the gameplay on Xbox One and the millions of hours of fun our fans have experienced since launch. We’ve also been busy listening to your feedback and working hard to incorporate it into Xbox One as soon as possible. We remain incredibly energized and we are aggressively working to make Xbox One better, faster than ever before.

Xbox One is a platform for continuous innovation and new consumer experiences over time. Just as we did with Xbox 360, Xbox One will have regular updates to deliver new features and platform experiences designed to delight you. We’re always listening to you and we love your feedback, so keep it coming.

February 11 system updates

On February 11, the first update will be delivered to customers who sign into their Xbox One. It features many new improvements – including lots of behind-the-scenes updates for developers building apps and games for Xbox One, several new features we believe Xbox fans will love, stability and product updates to improve the customer experience, and continuous improvements to the quality of Kinect voice so commands become more fluid and responsive over time. While we won’t be going into all of the details of the product updates today, we will be sharing more information soon.

Some of the features you can expect to see on February 11 include:
  • The ability to see and manage your storage space. With this update, you will find it easy to find how much space your content takes up and better manage your content. You can also control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue. We’ve separated My Games and My Apps into separate lists, so you can easily create separate queues for both. Now you can pick the order in which you want your content to load and we’ve added a boot progress indicator so you can better track updates while they load.

  • The battery power indicator is back! You can see it right on the home screen, so you can easily track how much battery life is left on your controller.

  • And, you will be able to use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One. These are just a few of the many updates we will be shipping on February 11. We’ll share more details on these and other upcoming features in the coming weeks. We have several surprises in store that we think you’ll love.

March 4 system updates – countdown to “Titanfall”

On March 4, in advance of what is expected to be the biggest game launch of the year, we will be delivering another system update to prepare your Xbox One for “Titanfall.” This update will contain many new features and improvements, most significantly to our party and multiplayer systems. Available on March 11, “Titanfall” is a team-based online multiplayer game that showcases the power of Xbox Live, and we will be shipping a new party and multiplayer system that will help make “Titanfall” the must-have game for this generation.

This post is the first of many announcements and sneak peeks at features in the system updates. We’ve been carefully listening to your feedback and look forward to delivering many new features that will make Xbox One even better. We’re just getting started and can’t wait to share more information in the coming weeks.

Like I said in the other thread, it seems they're just adding stuff they took away.

I want to know what the surprises are. I definitely want the battery life indicator ASAP, but I don't really care about the HDD stuff this early on.

Stupid things they took away. I'm still dumbfounded that there was no battery life indicator. How the hell can you omit that?

Same goes for not allowing you to see and manage your HDD content. No clue what MS was thinking.

Better late than never. Wonder wgat the update is to prepare for Titanfall is. Could it be a driver update to enhance performance?
Just read the news on cvg, they say they say the March update will prepare the console for Titanfall.

I do considering I put my copy of Ghosts in the other day and it had to install something. Not sure what the hell it was "Installing." Same goes for BF4.

WOOOHOO!!:bang:

I'll have my XBO by the end of this month and this update comes just in time! Thank you Universe!! Dayum, I hope I can pre order Titanfall online! I much prefer DD.

Jarrod's thread was first. Down with this one!!
Happens all the time. As I'm creating the thread, getting a pic together for the front page and citing the source someone gets a thread up first. I usually close mine but there were more replies to mine and merging them would require me setting it up for front page again.

Hopefully they will bring back surround sound for the optical out port so I can enjoy my xp500 surround sound headphones again like I did on the 360. Uggg

They need to create an easier way to access friends. This loading a friends app crap is annoying. It needs to be faster too because right now it's slower than loading your friends on the 360...which was slow to begin with.

Hoping for Dolby 5.1 support soon. Would also like more commands for TV and a fix for the bug that occasionally switches the audio to 7.1.

Wow, this is great news....I am glad we are finally getting these features back and improvements added, and that they are detailing the release dates. I am VERY happy!

love everything on that list. thank god they are seperating games and apps btw

just a shame nothing about music in background

Good job MS. Listening to their customers and fixing what should have been there day one. I am glad they are being proactive with the updates.

Friends list and party chat are a big issue for me right now.

wish there was a way for songs on xbox music to continue playing when you unsnap the app to listen to whilst in forza or fifa

Awesome to hear. Can't wait to see what the surprises are.
I love that MSoft does put forth great effort to inform their customers on product updates.

So MS and Sony will spend this year adding the stuff they left out?

Now MS please allow us to use XBox Music while playing games.

Yes, full HDD management will be appreciated. I don’t want to only be able uninstall a game but also would like to delete any updates associated with the game because as we have seen some of those updates can be quite large like the mega update for DR3.

I’d also like to be able to default the friends list to show who’s online now as opposed to always have to manually set that myself. Its going to take a little while before MSFT adds in all the little touches and conveniences that are sure to make the X1 even better but I have confidence it will happen. After all, they did it before with the 360 taking it from barebones to setting industry standards.

Listen the system was out like 3 months and they are putting things back and adding a few. This is a good thing!

I am pretty sure after people talking sh*t about Xbox live they took that to the heart because they was suppose to be the cutting edge and leader of online e gaming service.

good update, next I would like to see optical 5.1 and seperate volume controls when using snap which I never use because of this
