Official Thread For Honor

6/10
I was hoping the campaign/co-op would of ended up solid...oh well.

I didn't watch that. I don't need to because I'm playing it. The story mode is very good. It's challenging and has some varied gameplay mechanics going on. I'm really surprised by how fun it is. You do need to play it on Realistic mode though. Otherwise it's to easy. I'd give the story mode 8/10. Solid co op fun guaranteed.

Honestly, I love the game. Definitely not for everyone and that's understandable. But for a person who loves sword fighting in general, this is heaven!

Now....PVP Ubisoft? For real?. I cannot even count the number of times I've been disconnected or when Host just decides to up and leave It's stupid lol. Also wtf is up with the skill matching? I've been matching up against dudes whose heroes I can't even recognize because of all the high level gear and sh!t. I guess maybe because not a lot of people bought this game?.

I love the game, it's amazing, but it has to be said that if you are playing the game other than for the mechanics, you aren't going to get as much out of it. This isn't an rpg or even an action game in the way you would normally expect. It's basically a fighting game so if you are the kind of person who enjoys these games for how cool stuff looks, or the story, or leveling up and collecting hats, you aren't going to get the same experience.

When I say fighting game it's not nearly as responsive as most fighters, especially traditional 2D games, so that needs to be taken into account, but it is about knowing your capabilities and the capabilities of your opponent. It's also about patience, knowing your position relative to others and the environment and executing. It's a bit like a MOBA in that sense I guess. People who go into a MOBA because it looks cool, but soon realize they can't achieve any success by playing one character and spamming the cool looking abilities will have the same issues here.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of really cool and cool looking stuff happens, but it's as a result of mastery of mechanics and not just blasting through the game. Playing against 0 level bots or easy campaign certainly will let you blitz, but you will get bored quickly because nothing is required of you. Again most the cool stuff doesn't come from numerous cool abilities and story/world context, but from executing mechanics. The game looks great and on a basic level there is cool stuff to see, but seeing the really cool stuff normally requires that you know what you are doing.

This contrasts to a game like God of War that actually can have a high skill ceiling and a lot depth, but you can make your way through the game feeling badass just by playing the game. The high level play is about difficulty for the most part, and while that can certainly look and feeling amazing it doesn't necessarily appear all that much cooler despite the difficulty of execution.

I guess what I'm saying is that this really isn't your traditional action game. Much like a MOBA, Fighting game or even much the current Racing genre this game is mostly about "getting good". If that isn't in your wheel house you are going wring the enjoyment out of the larger game modes and the rpg elements much much sooner than you would in a pure RPG or pure Action game.

My biggest complaint is still connectivity issues although it appears far better than it did in open beta

Edit: If you are playing the first for a full campaign with a great story and varied locations and concepts you are going to be disappointed. It's fun, but again you are going to the most out of it if your priority is the mechanics and the campaign elements are just window dressing basically.

Yeah. 100% agree. The game is fantastic but that PvP match making is bonkers. Trying to play Brawl matches and it expands out to include All skill Levels and we're paired up against dudes that I can't even land a hit on. Any time that Skill level match restriction starts expanding out I know I'm in trouble. They have to fix that. I've no problem loosing but I k ow when I'm seriously outclassed because of skill and that's just no fun.

If I wait until the game is $10-15 just for story and some coop would it be worth it?

I just got done with a session. Seems as some people somehow are getting unbelievably high level gear the 4v4 deathmatch and Dominion are becoming completely unplayable for the likes of us. Do these guys pay Pay for the High level gear or am i missing something? I been playing a s*** tonne and still don't have anything good.

The game was unplayable. Like You said, you can barely land a hit and god forbid you do land one by mistake you know what happens? His revenge meter goes through the roof! I swear i seen people get revenge mode twice in less than 10 seconds I mean genuinely what the f*ck. And this is not even scratching the surface. There is no way to describe how unbalanced this game is when gear is turned on this is really on a whole new level IMO.

Looks like I'll just stick to the duel game modes until they hopefully fix this sh!t. I haven't been this frustrated in a very long time . I'll probably join brawl solo every now and then and hope I end up with high gear level dudes on my team.

Gear level is tied to your renown level. So renown 1-2 gives rare blue gear, renown 3-4 gives purple tier gear. I saw a guy at renown 6 who had yellow/gold gear...not sure if yellow is heroic gear or not.

I think some pay and get the champion status thing. I know this one dude that has paid (rich bastard) and his character is a one man army in 4v4. Eitherway, I think the real problem is in the matchmaking. It doesn't make any sense.

My main two people is the Berzerker and Orochi and both are almost at level 20. I'm also trying to get better with Warden but it seems too difficult now that I'm used to dodging with those two heroes. What I love about this game is that most of the characters are unique and it will definitely take a lot of time to get used to all of em.

Orochi in this game is like Genji in OW. Everybody thinks they're pro at him.

As far as I can tell everything you can buy is cosmetic only.

Champion status is nothing more than a XP booster.

Champion status is an XP booster only. It's worth getting if you plan on playing lots for a short period, like over a single weekend. You can buy Steel and use that purchase gear but the gear you get is tied to your level so you can't purchase anything for a higher level than you've gotten too. It balances that way. You could play to get to prestige 1 and then drop money on packs to gear up for that level I suppose. But it doesn't really buy you an advantage.
You can also purchase some cosmetic items.

Exactly.

Oh! and I hit level 18 this morning. I am so close to REP 3 now that I can taste its sweetness:grin:

Sweet. I think I'm level 1.10 so I'm half too the next level. I've still three packs left as well so I'll open those once I'm getting purples.

Is it?Hes funny and crazy with his reviews haha
He says its worth spending $60

This game is great dude. He's right about the crappy servers but the core game is fantastic. It has over 100k players at any time according to the game screen. I hope that keeps up.

Vikings win Round 1 of the Faction War. 3 packs for the winning faction. Not too bad. I'm still not quite sure if the win was based on the final round or on the total number of territories captured during the round.

I made a mistake starting with Fast paced characters. I'm good with Orochi and Berserker I have the dodge game locked down. But now that I am trying a third character (Warden) I can honestly say it's difficult as f*ck for me. It is taking me so long I am still pretty average with this dude. I need to really focus on Gaurdbreak and cancel but damn is it hard.

I am watching this crazy dude called Mege on youtube he only does Warden and he just makes me feel old lol. You guys should check him out.

I know how you feel. I started with the Peacekeeper and love her, but I am starting to dabble with heavy characters now and they just seem way too static....even a bit boring.

Is there a guardbreak counter exploit or technique I'm not aware of?. I just can't get good at countering Gaurd break. The only way I'd be able to do it is by anticipating it based on my opponents rhythm. but if it comes out of nowhere then it is impossible for me as the window is so so tiny.

Some folks...It feels like they have some sort of hack turned on lol. They counter all my Guard break attempts it just feels impossible at times because I mix things up so much. It feels like I'm missing something or something is up. There's a huge gap between folks that can counter it and those who can't (Like moi).

Check this out. It's video of the bezerker player doing the crazy feint + combo attacks. It's so fast I didn't even notice it sometimes until I rewound the clip. I also didn't know you can do feint using a dodge attack. Do a light attack from the right and immeadiatlu dogde attack to the left and it feints right then attacks left.

Shame that video is only against noobs. Would have better to see him up against a player that knew what they were doing.

What he is doing is pretty cool, though...and pretty hard. So props for that.

I'm making it part of my moveset. It even confuses bots. Of course if you do it wrong like I usually do, you get killed in their follow up.

How'd this game turn out? It amazes me how people find time for games like For Honor with everything else there is to play. Maybe if it was released during a drought i'd get to play it.
