I'm liking the fact this game doesn't come out any time close to February. Going to be ass deep in Elden Ring and Horizon.

2 year exclusive should be in the PS section.

On the topic of the game.... the lead character does nothing for me in this type of game.

So Its not on my radar.
Maybe a demo would change my mind.

So far it looks a little janky but I think there will be a Performance/60 fps option and even a RT option, like Morales or Guardian of the Galaxy,GotG looks great in that RT mode.

I like everything else though so far.

Graphics Mode - full 4K, 30fps

Performance Mode - 1440p, 60fps

Raytracing Mode - resolution and FPS currently unknown

Just watched a gamespot preview video where the guy spent nearly the first half talking about the main characters ethnicity and gender as if those have anything to do with the quality of the game. There are some decent looking spell effects in this game and the dragon looks cool but other than that the graphics are very average and the animations need a ton of work.

So does Sony pay for timed exclusivity in cases like this? I thought that they didn't do that or didn't have to do that type of stuff?

Yes, they paid for 2 years for console exclusivity for this game.

They haven't said anything like that since the PS2 era, of course they pay for timed exclusivity lol games cost too much to make to cut off potential customers without being compensated for it. This is the last thing they (well Jim Ryan) ever said on the matter and it's from 2018

So do we feel the need to go out and buy outright exclusivity? Probably not.

That's not a guarantee that they'll never do it either it's just them saying that it's not a normal part of their business model. He specifically said outright exclusivity there too so clearly, they do timed exclusivity enough (as does MS) that he wasn't going to try to deny it.

During the PS2 era they used to say they didn't pay for exclusive games but back then they were so far ahead in sales a lot of publishers likely took a wait and see approach to other platforms, it still cost money to make games for xbox and gamecube and neither one was selling well. That was mostly about GTA3/Vice City at the time and if you watch that series of videos on the xbox youtube channel they talk about how Rockstar came to them first about GTA3 and the xbox team turned it down so that sounds more like Rockstar was looking for someone to help finance the game than any publisher was going to them to try to buy exclusivity.

Don't think so as if they did...MS would outbid them.

I see it as them wanting it to be on the bigger world wide brand, help in development and advertising which might include custom PS5 consoles or accessories based on Forspoken.

They both pay for timed exclusivity in some form of fashion, it's not a bidding war kind of situation. Generally they pay for marketing and some of the development cost. You see it more with new IP because it's a lot cheaper than it would be to try to do it for something like GTA which even as just a timed exclusive would likely cost as much as making their own AAA game if not more. There may be some situations with indies where they just can't handle development on more than one platform at a time but yes generally speaking timed exclusivity is paid for.

I don't think so but parts of what you are saying I said above.

What you said above was inaccurate, he asked about Sony paying for timed exclusivity for games and they do, you said they do not. They don't always pay for it with indies, sometimes it just ends up that the indie dev can't handle working on more than one platform at a time and they'll either go with Sony first for various reasons often but not always including some financial support and promotion for the project.

You said no because MS would always outbid them, that's not the case or Sony would never have any marketing deals either. MS is not going to outbid Sony for the sake of it and often times the dev/pub only approach one party to try to set a deal up, if they decline or can't work it out they'll move to the next one. Sony having a much larger userbase for the PS4 has a lot of leverage in that area.

More walls of text.
A link showing Sony paying for exclusives last gen or this?

Spin response with pointing out them helping with development costs (like I stated) don't count.

So helping with development costs doesn't count? you know that's Sony giving them money right? and that money is the reason the exclusivity happens which means it's paid for. You provide a link saying they don't ever pay anything for timed exclusivity, see how easy it'll be to find them saying anything like that after the PS2 era.

Jim Ryan even said in 2018 that he doesn't see them needing to pay for "outright exclusivity" he was very careful to say outright and not timed. Keep thinking what you want I really couldn't care less anymore.

So no link

Microtransactions.

Forspoken will include in-game purchases according to the rating board. This is news to the players because we didn’t know this aspect of the game before. This isn’t something new for action RPGs as many other games in the past have included in-game purchases. But, this is new about Forspoken.
