I will be upgrading the forums to the latest version of of the forum software. I may do it tonight. If I don't, I will probably wait until after E3.

Some changes to expect.....

Ads will appear for everyone until I figure out the nuances so I can block them for "Cornerstone Members." ThEmoji support, better searching, better mobile functionality, better desktop functionality, better security, etc.....

Possible additions..... bookmarking threads, posts, etc., a Q&A forum, and some others.

Some of our current add-ons aren't supported, but I will add them when they are supported. Some things may disappear because they're not supported in the newer versions such as profile covers.

The default style will be used for a few days after until I get the new style set.

The front page will have to be put on hibernation until I upgrade that portion.

The forums my explode when I do the upgrade. Everything may be lost forever in CERN. In the meantime, when the forums are down, if they're down for an extended period of time, remember our old stomping ground..... http://txb.freeforums.net/

Fingers crossed when I attempt it! It'll be a multi-prong update!

Sounds like a nice upgrade, but I'd be in favor of waiting until after E3, because of the risks you mentioned. I'd hate to lose touch with Union during gamers' Christmas.

It shouldn't be that bad. Everything will be backed up twice. Once locally and once in the cloud.

I'm all about new features, but this is by far the easiest forum with the most features that I go to. The AVS forum is the absolute worst, as far as features. It still quotes entire posts, instead of collapsing them in a quote.

PS, we need more emojis from this decade.

Don't forget that Tori Spelling theme you promised me...

Yes, this forum is the best. Things that I enjoy about it:

  • The ease as to getting to the latest post in a thread you are reading. Yes, that is common on other forums, but some forums want you to click on a button at the end of the subject line, some forget the cookie that kept your spot. Union ALWAYS keeps me signed in and never times me out and always remembers where I left off.
  • The large support of file types for images. Not only images, but video feeds, twitter feeds all embedded. Some forums won't embed anything unless it is from a specific online gif site, or will only allow one image file type.
  • Supports animated gifs
  • Makes it very easy to strip formatting
  • When pasting the articles, MOST of the time the thread images, videos and font bold/italics are retained
We just need a WIKI!!!

Didn't expect this much change. This is gonna take time getting used to. I like it... but it's very different than before.

Good for us that you evolve, like humanity will lose a toe or two, so must this forum transform into what the futures claymaker decides.

I already miss the old board.. The new isn't very smart phone friendly
Yeah, the upper right hand corner drop down on my smart phone isn't that great. I liked having New Posts hyperlink available on every page. And sometime the menu is off one item to the touch. If I click on say Find Threads, it highlights and clicks New Posts. It's off by one for each item. Not all the time though, I think only when from certain areas of the site.

I don't agree. I think it's very mobile friendly.

New post is on the bottom of every single page. It's on the bottom menu "What's New."

Both the old and the new are very mobile friendly.

If I am on my mobile phone, and I am reading this thread and am done and I want to read "New Posts", there is no "New Posts" button exposed. I have to click on the upper left menu (3 bars) and then click on "New Posts".
