I'm behind on the Forza franchise and have been playing Horizon 3 lately. I'm continually impressed with how nice it still looks on the X1X. I've been looking forward to finally getting to Horizon 4 on the new console,.

The sale ends today. Anyone who's played them have any comments? I greatly enjoyed the expansions (what I played of them) of Forza Horizon 3. This seems like a stellar deal since it includes VIP, Car Pass, and a few other car bundles as well.

If I had to pay for
  • Forza Horizon 4 Fortune Island.
  • Forza Horizon 4 LEGO® Speed Champions.
Over again at full price, I wouldn't. But for $20 to get all the rest PLUS those expansions seems like a no brainer. Well worth it. Well, VIP is worth it if you are short on time and want to level up and earn money faster.

Yeah, this game looks almost flawless now. Its sharp, smooth, and super detailed. Like everything now, lol. It's like my backlog has reached the state it was always meant to be, lol.
It's soooo good. I can't stop playing it. I'm actually kinda glad I'd waited so long to finally start it, this really feels like a next gen game to me. For those of you that don't normally change the camera much, I highly suggest checking out the hood camera while driving. The reflections are crazy detailed., almost distractiingly so at first. I assume they improved their performance or detail with the enhancements. Really impressive.

By the way, after testing more I think I actually gave longer loading estimates than were accurate. Below seems more accurate.
  • Car swapping - 1 to 2 seconds
  • Race restart - 1 to 2 seconds
  • Fast travel - 1 to 3 seconds
  • Drone mode exit - 1 to 3 seconds
  • Photo mode exit - 4 to 5 seconds
Ironically photo mode seems soooooo slow compared to everything else. It's my one complaint at the moment, and the one thing I hope they can improvee. Seems kinda ridiculous, to complain about as It's still faster than most everything last gen, haha.

Exiting photo mode is still slow. Seems the same time frame as it was on the Xbox One. I thought that was odd when I tried it out this morning.

Sounds like there are still PC Ultra settings that can be added in and Digital Foundry already reached out to the devs to make them aware. Game already looks insane to me, easily one of my favorite new next gen patches. Can't imaging what it will be like if they add in even more settings and loading speeds!

Wtf?

"You do get some upgrades - car model quality is improved, while the real-time probe reflections applied to vehicles now run at 60fps as well, unlike Xbox One X. Unfortunately, not much else is improved over the 1080p60 mode on Xbox One X, so by extension, we're missing features found in One X's quality mode. For the Series consoles, that means that headlight shadows at night are not present in races, only in the open world - they're present in both at 4K30 on One X. Most confusing of all is the complete absence of screen-space ambient occlusion (SSAO) - so while areas in shadow on Xbox Series X may possess a high resolution, they lack believable shading and look very plain. Although not as important, motion blur is still using the similar, lower sample count found on the Xbox One X 1080p60 mode and it is also using the short shutter speed option as found on PC, so it is nearly invisible in most scenes. My biggest problem here is that overall, the visuals simply don't look as good as the 4K30 quality mode on Xbox One X."

  • Really?

Looking on Twitter, people are mentioning Turn 10 handed over the upgrade duties to another developer, they likely didn't know they left out certain features. Regardless, I already think it looks and runs incredibly, would be absolutely awesome if it got another patch to add in additional features / upgrades.

Seems insanely stupid considering it's a flagship title for x/s optimization lol
