Dany didn't seem very concerned that her own troops were in the city when she was torching everything. Not only could they have been hit by falling buildings but she more or less blocked off their escape route behind them with fire and large debris.

Ah yes how dare people know her claim is a lie. 2 people knew about it before Jon.

3 if you include Howland Reed and 4 for the priest who wed them but he might be dead now.

Don't understand what your point is here. Who said anything about her claim?

There are no examples of her being mad here. She is in complete control and there is no reason to believe otherwise. She can be cold and she can be ruthless but that isn't the same thing. "She burnt a slaver once therefore she must be mad" makes no sense.

I think a lot of the problem probably comes from their desire to shock and subvert expectations and that often leads to their story decisions.

The piece you posted said they sabotaged her... sabotaged/betrayed her by telling people the truth and that her claim is a lie.

Those bastards

Well its the least compelling part of what he/she wrote but this person is simply saying that she is right to be pissed by that but the show doesn't want you to think she is right to be pissed by that.

The point is she takes all of that way too well for someone that is mad. She could and should have killed Tyrion for being a bad hand but didn't. Are we really supposed to think her killing Varys in the wrong thing? Yeah we are but they didn't spend any real time giving the audience the understanding of what Varys sees there that he didn't like. This is a character that helped fuel Aerys madness. He is forced to act out of character because we need to establish she is bad in two episodes.

He started casting doubts last season

Not really. Him betraying her and being burnt is foreshadowed but the only thing that is there is him telling Tyrion that he has to make her listen. Nothing happens after that that should make him doubt especially since the only thing that does happen is her playing a huge role in saving everyone at Winterfell.

If the burning of the Tarly's is them actually them trying to build to her being mad but its a huge failure. They are given too many outs for it to be a sign of madness. Now if they built to her going apes*** on the Red Keep and some innocents got caught up in the crossfire then maybe it does work alongside her other actions on her enemies.

Actually a lot of this could have been solved if they had Tryion give her good advice and then have her do the opposite.

Doing what he said has contributed to her "turn" so it goes along with the story they are trying to tell. She's just doing what Olenna told her to do, be a dragon.

Before or after she told Olenna she didn't want to be queen of the ashes?

Here she is acting like her brother being an entitled brat and ending it all with a rant about burning cities down

But no she's never shown this side before the latest episode......
In fact the latest season mirrors her brother's downfall. Couldn't handle that the people love another more.

So should I cherry pick scenes like her being so upset over a child being burnt that she chained her dragons?

The storyline really only works is if the madness is slowly building and that means over more than 2 episodes. I have said it was rushed but even that they had 13 episodes so the one sign they gave was her burning the Tarly's? When they were given multiple ways out? Come on now. Otherwise you have to make the claim that she was always mad in which case you have to believe her burning slavers is an example of that.

Maybe she should have BAKED THEM INTO A PIE and then we agree that there were no real signs at all.

I don't think she's necessarily totally mad (ok, you have to be a little off to do that) :)

She said in one line to Jon about how they don't love her there and so they need to fear her. Showing her strength was not out of character or totally irrational. Everyone was going behind her back. The people were fleeing towards Cersei.

What was needed is a little more with Jon. I'm betting we've seen almost as much as Jamie and Brienne on camera as them since the truth came out.
