Official Thread Game of Thrones

Looks like the prequel series has been canceled.

Not so fast, the lord of light giveth after he taketh away lol. The prequel show with Watts starring has been shut down but they one about house Targaryen is going straight to series.

I picked up the season eight 4K set and I'm happy to say that "The Long Night" actually looks really good, all of the noise and distortion is gone.

Looked great on X with my TV when it aired.
OLED TV's had crushed blacks I heard.

It looked terrible on mine, most people were complaining about the noise and distortion, that's all gone with the 4K blu ray, not sure if they fixed it with the standard blu ray as well I'll have to check. I have directv and that's how I watched it the first time, streaming always looks a little cleaner than the broadcast does for me but that screen noise was still there when I tried watching it on HBOGO, it was distracting.

I watched via XBO X,HBO NOW

I use Smooth Gradation High for non Dolby Vision streams so noise wasn't a issue thx 2 Sony's best in class image processing.

The black crush was happening on OLED's.

The guy who directed the episode admitted something went wrong and HBO even did something to correct it after the initial broadcast but it still never looked quite right to me. I never heard much about crushed blacks, only a lot of banding, grain and distortion like you'd get when watching something low res.

Yeah I know what you are saying :)
Try that setting for non DV streams and cable.

Sorry to bump this thread but I came across this video on youtube and thought I'd share it.

Well, I am a tad bit late here. But we started watching Game of Thrones last year. We just started season 6. Loving it, and we never want it to end! So glad I don't see spoilers. It would indeed ruin the show for me.
