I've had 2 single player bug encounters so far. Once where the button prompt to open a door didn't appear and I had to restart the game and replay the section to continue. Another time an enemy got stuck in an area where I couldn't shoot it thus couldn't continue. Again had to restart the game to continue. Not major issues but a bit frustrating.

I just finished act 3 and the end of it was epic. Then the game doesn't let up with the start of act 4.

Okay, so if you are going to tell me that the container Jack is carrying would kill us all dead if it explodes, why in the name of heck would Jack go ahead into the fray but Del stay way back? Hated that stupid mission.

my brother and I finished that last night. silly bot charged ahead and was gettin wailed on by a juvie. narrowly avoided several bursts from the mulcher scion, but luckily completed it first try. Found a bunch of those relic weapons too. A torque bow with 22 rounds sounds cool, but with a non explosive tip and my severe lack of skill nailing headshots in this game, I found myself better off slicing everyone in comparison.

Eager to get out of the snow, but it's been a great ride so far. In a weird turn, this game has made me realize how much I like the second games story mode among the original 3. I guess mysterious research facilities are my weakness.

the boss at the end of act 2 is pissing me off. I keep freezing him and shooting him in the back with my lancer but as time goes on he eventually jumps a mile through the air and lands on me and kills me :(

Oh that one was frustrating and took me a few times to finish it.

If you suddenly find yourself unable to shoot then the game may have changed your button layout. Hsppened to me last night.

You doing the side missions? Some of these are pretty tough on experienced difficulty.

Its not the game thats broken. Its the servers. Dont start with the misinformation stuff. Its just not accurate.

Yeah if you read lower down, I said I found out the campaign issues are related to the server and to play offline.

I've had the game crash on me twice. Take a NG screen grabs kinda makes it stutter for a second. That said, I'm loving the campaign. It's tough too (playing on hardcore).

I found my inner twelve year old (screaming "aw f*** you!" several times) while dieing like, 7 times on this fight with a snatcher and those damn juvies (who have killed me more than any other enemy type!)

Just melee Juvies. I never shoot at them. Time your melee swings as they charge you. Even on experienced they only take the double melee to kill. Then roll away and do it to the next one. Snatchers suck though.

Finally finished. Really great campaign. My favorite shooter campaign this gen.

My most difficult fight in the game. Took 2 hours on experienced. Then I had to do it again because of the save glitch. When it starts jumping far, you just have to dodge roll right away. Also if it spears you, don’t fret as long as you can keep your bearings and dodge roll to the side (not backwards) as soon as you can move again.

I failed many times because of that. What a s*** show that segment was. Btw this was the fight that finally made me switch my Xbox offline because a checkpoint save glitch put me right back into that fight.

So, a question..Do you guys think The Coalition will have part of the team work on something else or do you think their next game, however long from now will be Gears 6?

The game isn't bad. I haven't played a Gears game since the 360 era. It brings back a lot of memories.

Go to your network settings and set the console to offline. You'll be able to sign-in and play the campaign or any other single player content you have.

Thanks, seemed like an odd thing that should happen automatically.

Yeah, I finally started doing that. Also, that last boss on Act 2....

I'm still pretty blown away that these cut-scenes are all real-time. The render quality in this game is fantastic.

I'm still only in Act 1 (didn't have a lot of time to play), but I already had one crash to desktop. Seemed to happen right after a checkpoint so no big deal. Kind of annoying anyway.

I won't give impressions this early but the game is fun so far. I've never been a huge Gears fan (do I lose my Xbox fanboy status saying that?), but it is fun. I'll definitely play through it on normal difficulty for sure.

Do you have an Nvidia card? I had two crashes that said fatal error and something to do with my video card. Supposedly Nvidia is releasing game drivers Tuesday.

I’m only on Act 2 in the campaign because I keep going to play Escape. It’s a fun and addicting mode. I’m still on Beginner difficulty since I don’t have much in the way of skill cards. I've ran into a glitch or bug to add to the many others for this game where the skill cards become invisible and can’t be changed in Escape Mode. I hope these issues are sorted out soon.

I think TC will be given the freedom to create another team and try at another IP -- just like Playground Games, Id imagine. With the success of Gears 5, seems like a good time to do it.

Doubt that will be any time soon, the Coalition team was created with the sole purpose of creating Gears games. The Playground studios thing is different.

They'll have plenty of other things besides Gears 6: Gears Tactics, Gears Pop, My Little Pony: Emergence Day Crossover Edition, and of course Half-Life 3.

Wasn't the bulk of the The Coalition working on an original IP before MS bought GoW from Epic? They were formerly Black Tusk and making an all new IP before MS plopped Gears on em and said "you're the gears studio now". Guessing some of the vets there would be happy to get the chance at an original IP again, fingers crossed they get the opportunity.

I believe there was some interview with Rod Ferguson about that, something about another small team set aside, doing who knows what and that they do have the liberty to work on anything else as well...

Gameplay looks nothing like it though, the models take a huge dip in quality in gameplay (as they do in most games) so I don't get why so many people are amazed by them. When you are able to corner a character in decent lighting they look about the same quality as every other game, even below some AAA titles. I know 60fps requires sacrifices but I just don't see what some others seem to be seeing I guess. It looks good but there are some wonky textures, some low poly areas on the sides of trails, that open ice area where you sail that vehicle around is so lifeless it almost seems to me like it's just there to extend the playtime and have the characters talk out story stuff, I will say once again an MS studio did a great job with the HDR though. The more I get into the game the less impressive I find the visuals, don't get me wrong it looks good but every gears game looks good. If I had to compare this to say Battlefront 1 and 2 I'd give those games the edge in visuals, I know they aren't quite the same thing but the materials looked more realistic and they also targeted 60fps.

Hopefully I get out of the ice soon and see something different, maybe it'll get better as time goes on. I do find the story a bit boring and Kate still isn't a very likeable character to me. Also that character who's a jerk for no reason is way over the top and his big "reveal" about a certain event that we barely knew anything about fell flat, they presented it like it was some big drama moment but we weren't there for it to begin with so why should we care?

They were another studio and then MS bought gears and they had to work on that instead, the studio was already working on an IP and even had a CGI trailer for something at the Xbox One reveal

He's by far the best looking model during gameplay IMO.
