Microsoft is enabling Google’s Assistant to work with its Xbox One console. Much like the existing Alexa integration, Microsoft is allowing Google Assistant to launch games and apps, turn the console on and off, pause videos, and much more. You’ll need to use the Google Assistant app for iOS or Android or a device like Google’s Home with Assistant on it to control an Xbox One. Google Assistant won’t run on the Xbox One itself; instead, it will receive commands from other devices running Assistant.

  • For more information on this public beta, please refer to the blog post here or our subreddit here.
Console Streaming
We’re getting ready to roll out Console Streaming (Preview)! Console Streaming is our new Xbox One platform feature that lets you stream installed Xbox One games (including Xbox Game Pass titles) to your phone or tablet directly from the Xbox One you already own. Those with consoles in Alpha and Alpha Skip Ahead Ring in the US and UK can now test their home network, controller and console settings to get ready for the preview.
To run the test, go to Settings -> Network settings -> Test console streaming to get started. The on-screen prompts will let you know if your console, controller and network pass the test, or let you know if there’s anything that needs to be changed. For additional information on how to ensure your console and network are optimized for Console Streaming, please visit the Xbox Support website.
We’re looking forward to sharing more about Console Streaming (Preview) and what to expect in the coming weeks!

Known Issues for Alpha Skip Ahead
We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These issues aren’t being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution. We appreciate your patience at this time!
Audio
  • Users who have Dolby Atmos enabled and console display settings set to 120hz with 36 bits per pixel (12-bit) are experiencing loss of Dolby Atmos audio in some situations.
    • Workaround: Disable 120hz or set Video Fidelity to 30 bits per pixel (10-bit) or lower.
Dolby Access
  • Users are unable to complete the setup for Dolby Atmos in the app and the app is not recognizing Dolby Atmos headphones
    • Note: This is an issue with the Dolby Access app and the app developers are aware and investigating.
My Games & Apps
  • Users have reported seeing an “Xbox Events” app in their collection.
    • Note: This app will be used to experiment with a new Events experience to showcase in-game events. We’ll have more to share when the feature is ready for Preview.
System
  • Some users have reported the console shutting down unexpectedly while using Netflix.
    • Note: The console may take longer to reboot/shut down than normal. This is expected behavior, please do not power off the console manually. There is essential information being collected to investigate the cause of the issue.

Gizmodo came out with an article today that has some rather interesting details. Their leaker made some very interesting claims:

1. PS5 devkit is named Prospero. He provided images earlier this year before anyone had seen the now leaked images.

2. PS5 and Scarlett will both use different techniques and approaches to Ray Tracing. He left cryptic hints which the site refused to print.

3. Xbox Scarlet'a kit has a huge emphasis on Camera. The current camera is capable of 4K with a 2ms lag! There are demos of Snapchat like lighting changes. Meanwhile, PS5 uses older camera tech.

4. He says both consoles will have the largest compute jump of any generation.

Yeah I saw that, as long as they don't include the camera and jack up the price of the consoles I guess it doesn't matter much either way. I've never gotten the appeal of watching others play games unless they have access to games that haven't released yet but I know for some reason others are into it.

Man, I really hope MS supports Oculus quest. They just announced a cable that will let you use it like a Rift. Plus they are going to implement finger tracking. It would be the perfect solution for vr...

Thuway wanted so hard for that s*** to be true so he could start a whole new pile of BS insider/speculation s***, that was going to be his comeback thread, lol.

Sony announced that the PS5 is getting a 4K blu-ray player and rumble in the triggers of the controller.

Hopefully that means more developers will start supporting rumble triggers now that both PS and Xbox have them.

Cause Xbox had all the same stuff in consoles from 2017...something has proper gone wrong at SONY lately....this whole soft launch is strange as f**k
shout out! I guess like now they have party chat this gen when xbox had this long time ago. Even the OG xbox had party chat, you just had to be on the dashboard.

How is it crazy? they announced their new console and gave a rough outline of what was in it before MS did their E3 announcement which ended up taking a lot of the steam out of the event. Now they've come forward with more info that will keep forum whiners and console warriors from setting phony narratives like software based RT etc which never made sense to begin with. It also keeps them ahead of any leaks, we all know the longer developers have dev kits the more things are going to end up leaking out, that's how it always goes so instead of pretending no new hardware is coming both Sony and MS are releasing the info themselves.

What's it matter if it's through an interview that's released on the internet or a press conference that's broadcast on the internet? the info is the same and doing it this way let's you grab all of the attention for the moment instead of having to share with tons of other gaming announcements going on at E3. Until either company can actually show us games running on the hardware it's all just talk anyway but at least they are giving us some info and keeping us engaged.

I've never really noticed them on my One X, do many games use that feature? Also the PS5 controller isn't just rumble triggers, the devs can adjust the actual resistance it's not just a vibration.

“Impulse Triggers will provide a much-needed layer of precise, subtle feedback. Imagine playing a shooter where pulling the trigger on a gun results in a powerful, resistant click from the trigger on the controller. That sort of physical feedback is a far more valuable tool for immersion than anything ever produced by traditional controller rumble.”

Rumble is an awful feature. I've turned off rumble since it's introduction in Sony and MS consoles.
