Only question in my mind is the pricing, X series more powerful is a given at this point
Series X > PS5 > Lockhart is the current rumor but we will know in less than a year.

If it isn’t less than six months I’m going to lose my mind.

I'd imagine that MS is finalizing or has finalized the specs as we speak. I'd expect a full spec release no later than E3. We all have to remember that given the demand for this new console, the plans will have to go to manufacturing sooner than later to have physical units ready for the holidays*.

*Whenever MS considers holidays, either Thanksgiving time in Nov or Christmas time in Dec.

They have to be ready to counter the Brack Friday Bunduru.

Yeah but consoles must be more difficult for mortals to comprehend?
Funny thing is, Series X is geared towards to hardcore gamer. Every hardcore gamer already knows what the Series X is. Yet, it's confusing...because reason.

The parents who purchase these consoles for the children' don't want their kids to turn out like us... "hardcore". That is why the series S exists to shut the brats up and cheaper than PS5. This maybe too hard for some?

Just a summary of the recent info. Still nothing official.

Also, Techpowerup adjusted Xbox SX stats from 64 to 96 rops, 50% more than PS5.

AMD leak reveals 12 teraflop target for Xbox Series X GPU, 9.2 for PS5

The makeup of the Navi GPU chips powering both the PS5 and Xbox Series X has leaked.
According to data initially available on Github, a member of AMD’s testing team has posted test results of unreleased GPUs believed to be linked to PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The information featured 3DMark results and some hints about the potential power of the GPU in each of the two upcoming consoles. Digital Foundry independently verified the data has not in fact been changed, meaning this is our first – albeit unofficial – look at the two GPUs powering PS5 and Xbox Series X.

According to the leak, the PS5’s GPU – codenamed Oberon – uses 36 compute units and runs at 2.0 GHz. This creates a 9.2 teraflop GPU, which AMD has been referring to internally as a “Navi 10 Lite.”
The Xbox Series X GPU, on the other hand – codenamed Arden – is aiming for a more powerful 12 teraflops target. The available data doesn’t give us too much of an insight into the Series X GPU compared to PS5’s, but it does confirm 56 compute units, though not the clock speed.
Digital Foundry suspects the target is 12 teraflops, which would put the clock speed at around 1.7 GHz, and is in line with different reports from late last year.

The site is basing this on the GPU’s shader count (3584 shaders), which would indicate a 12 teraflop target at the very least. Aiming for a lower TF target would require less shaders, which isn’t likely.

None of these specifics have obviously yet to be officially confirmed, but the PS5 leak reveals how baked-in backwards compatibility support is in the GPU. The data reveals testing from three chip modes: Gen0, Gen1 and Gen2. The idea is to replicate the power of base PS4 and PS4 Pro in both Gen0 and Gen1, leaving the fully unlocked Gen2 to handle native PS5 games.

Indeed, according to the results, the GPU down-clocks its speed and deactivates some compute units to match those found in both of the current-gen PS4 consoles.

It’d be pointless to speculate on price at this stage, but the full report is worth reading for an idea of what to expect. Based on what we know, the Series X’s targets may put it out of the affordable ranges consoles typically operate in.

The rumoured Lockhart, Xbox’s cheaper, less powerful console, doesn’t make an appearance in this leak, but its existence makes a lot more sense now.

I couldve sworn I read the final specs were already in place. Its almost impossible to have any major changes aside from upclocks and minor tweaks at this point. Im kinda thinking thats why Phil went ahead and announced the Series X at this point. I think he knew he had the most powerful and that no real changes could be done to either consoles without a huge financial loss or missing release deadlines.

Don't we wish we got 96!

Valliance, as usual, is making a console warrior post with a dig at Xbox to reminds us they are not #1. Nevermind Apple and Microsoft are the two most valuable tech companies in the world and companies across the globe have multiple skus in their product line. Also we have to forget this current generation has multiple skus by Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo.

We aren't talking about MS money.
It's not console warring it's pointing out terrible apple(pun intended) to oranges comparison and is bad.
Apple makes all types of variations of phones and people figure it out because they are huge with cell phones.

With Apple being a leader in the cell phone industry they can afford to do these types of things.
MS has not been a leader in the gaming industry and cannot.

Not hard and the truth(regarding MS) isn't trolling
Your talking something totally different. I was wondering what your were saying.

Glad to see you haven't grown up enough to gets past hardware sales.... I wish for innovation and change in this console space. If MS didn't come along consoles wouldn't have GPU's or hard drives or be online. Regardless of what you think MS can afford to whatever they'd like to do and as history has shown they don't fear shaking it up. Sure last gen they messed up but that is the past and this thread is about series x so stay on topic...

My post is in response to posts in here.
Rollins was the original poster who brought up the apple to oranges comparison not me.

Let us compare apples to oranges then.. why not have more skus @ various price points? Like cellphones that basically do the same thing looking @ Samsung's line of phones. Like Ford and GM that make more than 1 SUV. Hardcore gets series x. Others that don't have or need 4k get a more affordable series? Why can't MS try this?
