Interesting read on VRS tier 2 implementation in Gears 5/Tatics.

I was looking up pricing for the Xbox One now that the Series S/X are out. But I can't even find ANY available. At the Microsoft Store, they are sold out. Then I saw at Best Buy, they removed Xbox One Console from this menu, which is used to be in there. Series X/S and PS5 both have a "console" line. As does the PS4. So I guess the Xbox One is dOne?

Conclusion

Tier 2 VRS allows for a free boost in performance with minimal visual impact. As we see more adoption of 120+ FPS and higher fidelity effects, it’s become increasingly important that we spend our GPU budget in all the right places, making Tier 2 VRS a welcome tool to help tackle the next generation of rendering.

Xbox REEEEALLY needs to get into VR! Their backend technology is vastly superior to anything else, and it would show in worlds that haven't yet been seen in VR. Even a game like Half-life: Alyx could be optimized beyond the current version, with this technology, and others meant to conserve resources.

Just got a Oculus Quest 2 headset for the holidays. Fully wireless is the future and the headset also can be wired to your computer with a single USB-C cable to play games like Half-Life Alyx/Medal of Honor (and any other PC only VR game as long as you have a supported Grfx card). You can also play fully wireless with your computer but this requires sideloading software and there is an added latency/grfx hit (I have not tested this yet but some video reviews show it's not that bad). I've mainly played SuperhotVR, Vader Immortal, and Echo VR natively on the Quest 2 and while I think VR has a bright future, it still has a long way to go (things still feel imprecise and "twitchy" to me). Good fun though for sure and I would highly recommend the Quest 2 due to it's versatility and low price (went with the $300 64 GB version as the current games are small and if using with PC are not stored on the headset).

Soooo...that is a long explanation to get to the point that MS should partner with Oculus and get the Quest 2/3 working on the Series X (and S if doable) via single link cable like on PC today (or maybe fully wireless on the Quest 3). The Quest is blowing up so this is the time to jump in MS!

Finally managed to get a pre-order for SeriesX! My buddy's mate works in head office for a big electronics company here and gave us the heads up on an incoming shipment and both managed to secure one, should hopefully be here at the start of February. All sold out within a few hours.

Have my xbox waiting for me at the store! Gonna be a long day at work, what's the general consensus on best first games to try.

Also remember reading about some headsets not working with SeriesX but couldn't find anything about it, hope my turtle beach 700s work fine.
