Ghost of Tsushima - Directors Cut Rated By ESRB For PS4/5

The graphics in this game are consistently mind blowing. Just got the Sakai armor in the beginning of act 2 and that area is insane looking with all the different color trees

I always forgot I have the shoulder charge! I need to remember to do it.

I unlocked Parry for the unblockable attacks and Wind Stance for fighting Spearmen. I'm absolutely destroying the enemies now.
I love the flow of the fighting. Lots of fun and well animated

Who else forgets to change armor before going into battle? I always wear the traveling armor to clear out the area on the map faster but for the first few days I kept forgetting to put the samurai armor back on when a fight was starting lol. I've gotten better about that now and of course unlocked more armor sets. This game has some great character acting btw and the side stories can be touching at times which surprised me.

One nitpick I have with this game is the thunder sound effect seems like it's the same two or three sounds over and over, there's never any rolling thunder like you are hearing it in the distance, I think that kind of sound would go great with the visuals.

What other game would you compare this to gameplay wise?

I dont like games being too difficult. Even the new GOW kicked my ass.

The easy answer is assassins creed. Open world, quest driven, choice between stealth or combat focus, emphasis on parrying...in terms of gameplay they are very similar. However loot isn’t as big of a deal since you’re not changing weapons and of course the lethality of the katana is the biggest difference in terms of how the game feels. That lethality is pretty unique and makes the combat feel fresh and different.

As for difficulty, I don’t think it’s very difficult. Stealth is easier than in most games and I’ve found that I have to be careful with my combat upgrades because I feel OP at times. For example through upgrades and wearing a certain armor I can take out like 5 or 6 enemies in a showdown, which means it takes a really big group of enemies for their to be a challenge. Not a fan of that so I take steps to nerf myself lol.

Also, load times are super quick and it almost always loads you right where you died so even losing doesn’t feel frustrating.

Now that's a confident statement about initial sales. I hate it when they put out a statement like this without numbers. Sony did it for Last of Us 2, Death Stranding and Days Gone, that I can remember off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure those games sold well and I enjoyed them all except Last of Us 2 which I haven't played yet. But when they don't provide numbers it always makes me suspicious and think they're trying to spin something.

Its been a difficult wait but I think I'll be able to start this game soonish. At least I think so because I just defeated a major boss in Death Stranding. However, I was surprised when the credits didn't roll once I did. Seems like Kojima is taking a page from James Cameron who's the master of the two part third act.

I have to say this is my game of the year, still haven't completed it yet but I'm playing a good amount every day and I'm guessing I'll finish it in the next two days. I have to say again the acting and writing are really good in this game, I've had two things happen that actually choked me up a bit when playing today because of the performances as well as the visuals that were going on at the time. This is easily the best sucker punch game I've ever played. It's not perfect but I'd pick this over TLOU2 as game of the year any day of the week.

What are you talking about? Sony provided numbers for TLOU 2 but not Death Stranding and Days Gone. We know Days Gone sold well but didn't break records so they didn't mention. They always provide numbers when they break records.

The game looks insane so far. I turned the game off after getting to the point I could go out and do whatever. Visually, this game craps all over anything shown at either of the next gen reveal events.

Wow I suck at this game, on easy 🥺
I have discovered that I also suck. I'm too impatient and I'm attacking constantly and I can't figure out the stuff where you have a standoff or whatever it's called. I suck so bad.

Later today, patch 1.05 for Ghost of Tsushima will be released, bringing new combat and text options.

This patch includes the following new updates:

New difficulty level: Lethal

  • – Enemy weapons are more deadly, but Jin’s katana is also more deadly
  • – Enemies are more aggressive in combat
  • – Enemies detect you faster
  • – Tighter Parry and Dodge windows

Patch 1.05 will also include the following new options in the accessibility menu:

Lower Intensity Combat

Lower intensity mode is meant to maintain the heart and feel of Ghost of Tsushima combat while relaxing several timing-specific elements. Combat is less intense, giving you more time to react. Stealth settings are more forgiving, and enemies take longer to detect you.

  • – Most enemy attacks which are normally unblockable become blockable when Lower Intensity is enabled. Blocking with L1 will keep you safe from more attacks than standard combat, though some attacks must still be dodged.
  • – Enemies break off their attack combos after damaging you, giving you a chance to recover before the next wave of attacks. In addition, your heavy attacks will interrupt attacks from Brutes, giving you another way to stop their combos.
  • – Enemies will not attack you while you’re using Resolve to heal
  • – Enemy awareness builds more slowly, giving you more time to recover after being spotted
Text changes

  • – Large Text option: Increases text size of subtitles, mission objectives and interact prompts by 150% when enabled
  • – Added option to turn speaker name off when subtitles are enabled
  • – New subtitle text color options in addition to white: Yellow, Blue, Red, Green
Patch 1.05 also includes additional bug fixes.

I only lost like one prisoner the entire time, if they start getting rushed and you are fighting just turn and use of your quick throw weapons.

I just finished the game tonight and it's one of my top 5 of the generation probably top 3. My only real complaint is the camera not always being where it needs to be when there is a crowd of enemies coming at you. It's a beautiful game, really well done story with awesome writing, acting and a great soundtrack. Jin is probably one of the best new characters I've come across in a game in a long time.

Do you have a 3d audio set up? It sounds so awesome coming from overhead. I don't recall any distant thunder, but I haven't noticed any repetition, perhaps because it's coming from all these different directions.

This game is in the running for GOTY (not sure if it has a chance against Cyberpunk, but you never know!) for me. LOVE it, though now I'm pretty far, It is getting a tad repetitive. If I have to follow another damn fox... Best open world game since The Witcher 3.

It has everything I like in visuals too. Dynamic wind and grass. Lots of cloth sim. Dangly bits on the characters, volumetrics everywhere. Tons of particles. They do such a great job of managing the LODs and visuals at distance. I love how far out you can see the tufty grasses blowing.

I also haven't enjoyed melee combat this much in a while, and I appreciate the different enemy types and emphasis on parries. So good. Seemless flow between fighting and sneaking too. Overall, everything I could want for a game. A true masterpiece for me.

Haha, pretty much. I started using the typhoon kick to knock any hostage attacker away from them,

Just shoot them in the back when you see the kill icon.

You swing when they raise their hand to strike. Be careful because they try to fake you out into swinging too early later on. Still, watch their feet. They are attacking when they move forward.

I read that the weather changes depending on how you are playing, I seem to be getting thunder almost all the time so maybe that's why I'm hearing it so much.

Doing lots of sneaking? Poisoning? Generally dishonorable behavior? Yeah me too... I use the flute to clear the skies when it gets to be too much.

I'm still very early on, but I'm not liking it all that much. The new patch made the difficulty more tolerable, but I'm just not compelled to play the game.

I need to upgrade my ancient receiver. I'm having massive difficulty hearing dialog in any game these days. I have to use the TV speakers to hear it. Everything else sounds great, just the dialog is very, very low and no settings seem to change it.

Always go for subs, daughter sleeping and I have sound down it's the only way to know what's going on lol

That seems... far less funny to me. I'm not really a person who always goes the path of least resistance. I like to goof around in games and mess with my enemies, not just do what the easiest, most efficient method of defeating them is, to me thats, kinda boring....
