Ghost of Tsushima - Directors Cut Rated By ESRB For PS4/5

There were some crazy rumors of potential Motorstorm and/or Socom reboots for launch, but nothing has panned out yet.

I’m still thinking the big sell will jacked-up versions of Ghosts and TLOU2.
SOCOM would be day one for me. Loved SOCOM 4.

Well when gaf and era are the source...

We are literally just a few months in 2020. Assuming they won't have any games at launch is premature at best. 😐
Revealing next gen games this soon is uncommon and shouldn't be expected. If companies are rushing into next gen it usually means they are struggling and ready for something new. Lastly Gaf is not Sony.

The only thing that bugs me is stiff facial animation. I feel like they should have a grip on it by now.

Yeah I notice it around the yes a bit, the faces look great but the way they animate could look better.

I’m patient and I can wait. Well actually I’m not patient but I will wait as long as it takes.

It's less than a month after TLOU2's scheduled date so I guess we'll wait 30 days to hear about that delay :)

If the PS5 launch library isn't too full I'd consider just holding TLOU2 back for that, if the game is basically done they'll have some time to add some visual and performance upgrades to the game and that'd be a huge launch title. As far as Ghost of Tsushima I'm really looking forward to it but if they need to delay it because this pandemic has interrupted their workflow I'd be totally fine with waiting.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if this wasn't delayed like TLOU2. But can sony really afford to delay both?

Safety > $$
That implies that you can only make money while being unsafe, which simply isn't true. The modern tech and services offer options you didn't really have 20 years ago.

They could release these digitally and make a craptonne. This something you will see embraced more and more in the coming months.

I hope that is true. But there are clearly a lot of game delays right now due to the virus.

Exactly. But if Doom any indicator, I’d think they’d want to get these games out to a captive audience. With engagement rates at an all-time high, I’d think sales would be greater than usual, especially for bigger games.

Lot of delays, full stop. But everything stopping has a finacial burden that will need addressing. Granted Xbox and PS have large revenue generating services that will help short term, but even these companies will feel the effect.

Can Sony really afford to delay 2 expensive games? TLOU2 makes sense given it has history. GoT is a new IP and perhaps better suited to a digital only release .

Hard to tell if sales would be higher. Digital only makes up 50 to 60 percent of sales. Would digital sales increase? Almost certainly, and significantly so, but enough to off set physical sales, doubtful.

Its probably more of a question of whether they can afford not to delay them. The sales will be hurt its just a question of how much.

And I would probably say it makes more sense to delay this than TLOU because its new and an unknown.

If they could have released TOLU2 and not had a negative impact on sales they would have, clearly there was a problem getting it sold on a global basis on the same day and we all know a game like this would have spoilers on youtube and other places on day one and that would impact sales. Plus digital only wouldn't make up the loss in physical sales, gaming only shops in the US are closed and I would guess they are in other countries too, this really isn't a great time to be pushing a game out the door, hopefully things start to improve in the next few weeks/month.

Exactly. Which is why I think delaying TLOU2 makes more sense. It has a baseline based on the first and sale expectation will be based on that. Didn't TLOU sell like 12 to 15 million before ghis gen remaster? That is alot of expected money.

GoT doesn't have that. Which, in my mind, makes it more suitable.Even a digital only release will see it do well...Unless it reviews poorly.

I would wager Ghosts is next on the delay list. If the supply chain is messed up, which I suspect it is, I highly doubt any platform holder/publisher is going to release any game without the physical copies being available. People like to down play physical medias relevance, especially when it come to games but it still plays a huge part of their revenue.

I'd be down for it to release before TLOU PT2 but I also think it's getting delayed.

Yeah, I still buy most if not all my games physically, but if this released digital only you betchoass I'd buy it day one, it's currently my most anticipated release. I'd love for it not to be delayed but as many have already expressed, fear that it will be.

Agreed. I never buy SP games digitally because I almost never play them
again once I’m done, but in this case I’d make an exception. I’m loving the vibe of it so far.

It wouldn't surprise me if this and The Last of Us 2 are worked into the launch window for the PS5. With the Covid-19 effecting supply chains, give the devs time to port their games to the new console. Both titles as exclusive launch titles are very compelling reasons to pick up a PS5 on launch.

Those games will not be exclusive to the PS5. People would be pissed, and they'd miss out on 100 million potential customers vs the couple million they'll have on 5 by years end.

You might be right but it is within the realm of possibility that Sony might do exactly what I described. Also I full expect a remaster port for the ps5 within a year of release if released this year on the ps4.

Wouldn't need to be exclusive. Get it there for launch, showcase them with PS5 upraded graphics. Job done. Would still be compelling reasons to get a PS5.

Ghost and a whole bunch of other games are most definitely getting delayed now. CERO, the Japanese rating board ( ESRB equivalent) has closed until May 6th.

The shuttering of CERO is expected to have major ramifications in the Japanese gaming industry, as any and all titles awaiting certification from CERO will now be legally unable to release until the ratings board resumes its daily activities. The same rules also apply for all upcoming demos and DLC releases.

The government declared state of emergency regarding COVID-19, and the Governor of Tokyo asked people to refrain from going outside until May 6.
Since reviewers visit our office to conduct review, it is not possible for our staff and reviewer to work from home.

For this reason, all operations, including review (including those under review), will be suspended from today until May 6.
All staff will be on standby at home, and the office will be closed during this time. We will announce the resumption of business on our website.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and thank you for your understanding.
