Ghost of Tsushima - Directors Cut Rated By ESRB For PS4/5

I finally got to Act III last night. I like it a bit better than I did before, but it seems like the game is dragging on longer than it needed to. If the side missions had more variety, I'd be enjoying it a lot more.

Dammit, I knew it was coming but I just hit the part of the huge disagreement between Jin and his uncle Lord Shimura. I understood Lord Shimura's shock at Jin's brutal actions. But I felt he should have understood that it was done for the greater good of the people. Shimura is just too ridged in his beliefs of the Samurai code. Is it better to be honorable and dead or alive with blood on your hands? Its a tough question but I'll side with the former.

Anyway, I looks like I'm almost at the conclusion. I'm on the third part of the island and completed the last mythic tale which grants an awesome ability. I'm just a little bummed this game is about to end. For me, its the swordplay that keeps me so interested in playing. I don't use stealth much and with the Sakai armor I can dispatch around 6-7 enemies in one stand-off. The Ghost Stance ability is nice too but I see why they waited until almost the end to introduce it. Its basically an "I win" option that makes things a little too easy.

Such a great game. Both Sucker Punch & Bend Studios (Days Gone) are firmly on my radar for their next games after having developed two of some of the best open world games I have ever played.

At one point I may come back to this, but between my PS4 pro sounding like a jet engine while doing anything in this game and it being a little to repetitive, I put it down. It might be a good title to revisit once I get my PS5.

The jet engine sound is another reason I don't explore the game as much, and fast travel when I can. Also, it seems like it's storming constantly on me most of the time and I'm bringing out the flute every few minutes to make it stop.

Cool little note on that, the weather is actually impacted by your playstyle, so if you're getting a lot of storms I think that's suggesting you've been a very dishonorable little samurai...

I've seen it mentioned before, but I fight honorably more often than not. That's another stupid game mechanic.

Lord Sock Guy sucks.

And Khraze Gaming did a deep dive on stuff shown in the trailer and announced online for the patch:

I finally finished the game yesterday. The last few missions raised the score up to an 8.5 for me. I have 86% of the trophies. I tried finding everything and did every mission. Not sure if I'll bother with it again when the new update comes out. It would need new regions and story missions for me to bother playing though it again.

Cyberpunk is the only game that stands a chance at being GotY over this for me...

I don't like the "up to 60fps" statement. I kinda just assumed the PS5 version would easily be able to hit a locked 60fps. Definitely a bummer, I was looking forward to trying out the New Game Plus mode on PS5 once I get one.

These companies need to be more clear on what they say. Will the game run at 1080p and be up to 60fps? 2160p and up to 60fps?

It's not an upgrade patch that's just boost mode from the console so I would just assume the framerate will be faster that's all.

Hopefully it still gets a patch. I'd almost definitely play through the full game again with an upgraded fancy PS5 version.

Sounds pointless with this game then. There's quite a few games that absolutely need a framerate boost.

Just beat it, loved the Japanese theme. I visited Tokyo and Kyoto in 2019 and loved every part of the trip. So naturally this game was on my radar. The combat is top notch. I find myself standing off like 75% of the time just because I wanted to be a badass samurai and the combat is very enjoyable too. Having played Valhalla before this, the combat system in Tsushima is much tighter. Didn't get to finish all the side missions but maybe I'll go back and do them if it allows me to. Credits are still rolling so not sure where it's going to leave me.

Can't wait to see what Sucker Punch comes out with next!

Ghost of Tsushima isn’t just a critical and commercial success, it also proved to be a crowd favorite, so much so that the game now has one of the highest completion rates among open-world games on PlayStation.

Specifically, 50.2% of players have finished Ghost of Tsushima–this is based on the percentage of players that have received the ‘Mono No Aware’ trophy. For those who have yet to play the game, this trophy is awarded to players after finishing the game’s main story.

What makes this completion rate impressive is that usually, only 30-40% of players finish the main storyline in open-world games, likely because of the sheer scale of these kinds of titles. This means half of Ghost of Tsushima’s player base found the game compelling enough to finish.

Here are the completion rates based on trophies of other popular open-world games on PlayStation for comparison (as of this article’s writing):

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man – 50.8%
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins – 38.2%
  • Far Cry 5 – 36.7%
  • Days Gone – 34.7%
  • Horizon Zero Dawn – 34.1%
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – 30%
  • The Witcher 3 – 29.8%
  • Death Stranding – 28.6%
  • Red Dead Redemption II – 28.2%
  • Watch Dogs 2 – 24.9%
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – 19.8%

Think it's more to do with a box revision than hinting at going to PC. They don't really do the "Only on Playstation" thing anymore since they've been putting the Playstation studios logo on box covers instead now.

Don't doubt it might get a PC port in the next couple years though.
