Buying a publisher with lots of studios is different than buying one studio. How much was the Housemarque acquisition vs. Activison's.

I don't see Sony sitting on their hands if MS keeps acquiring publishers, at some point, they're going to need to think of a plan to keep market share. Which is good because it pushes them to do better.

Housemarque vs Activision Blizzard

Thank God for Twitter so we can such thought provoking comparisons.
Well, Sony can't buy Activision as it would deplete half of their cash. Well, I guess they could, but it wouldn't be smart. A lot of what ifs. If Sony had nearly $3 trillion, I don't think they would hesitate to buy Activision either. They both clearly have different budgets.

I think Xbox is working on a Game Pass budget.

It's bad for the industry and I hope it stops, it's just going to give people fewer options which is the exact opposite of what Spencer keeps saying he wants to do, total con man in that regard.

Is it that bad? Was kind of looking forward to trying some co op on GP.

I miss the old R6 and Vegas games, don't seem to get many like them these days, on console anyway.
I played alpha. Despite the state it was in, the game play was bad and will likely stay that way because it's a Ubisoft game. There's nothing Rainbow Six about it.

He has stated they weren't going to make acquisitions? I could have sworn that he has recently stated the complete opposite. What he has stated is that exclusivity is bad for gaming, but he has never "conned" anyone into thinking they weren't going to acquire studios and publishers.

Will Activision Blizzard games be Xbox exclusive? Look at history

Conclusion:

Same as it ever was

With Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the question of whether or not Call of Duty — along with so many of Activision Blizzard’s other major franchises — will be exclusive to Xbox and PC answers itself. Just like with its acquisition of ZeniMax Media, Microsoft isn’t going to spend inordinate amounts of money to put games on platforms it doesn’t own. It would rather bring players into its own ecosystem, have them buy a Game Pass subscription or an Xbox console.

There is no incentive for Microsoft to give PlayStation players games, and the tech giant certainly isn’t going to do it out of goodwill.

Starting in 2023, when Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard is set to close, you can bet that Call of Duty, along with multiple other franchises, will make the move over to Xbox’s platforms. If we’re being honest, the only way PlayStation users will be able to play a Call of Duty game after next year will be through Call of Duty: Warzone. If you’re a PlayStation owner who’s looking for the annual Call of Duty experience, open your wallet and get ready to pay Microsoft.

What he has stated is that exclusivity is bad for gaming

True. He also stated he wants Xbox games on Xbox, Microsoft Windows PC, Android, iOS, Nintendo and PlayStation (the latter two if they allowed the Xbox Live and Game Pass experience).

Its bad for gaming but it isn't Spencers fault. Yeah there will be some flip floppy PR statements but people shouldn't put so much weight in those anyway. His statement about exclusives wasn't genuine it was just a way to take a shot at Sony but Sony also said they believed in generations but that wasn't genuine they wanted to take a shot about Microsoft. Its a whole lot of who cares to me.

Its just embarrassing seeing people root on their favorite mega corporations while deciding the others are the real bad ones "at least it wasn't Facebook". Spencer is even saying we can trust Sony and Nintendo but we can't trust Google and Amazon. They might do something damaging to gaming like maybe buying everyone? Well we can't have that right?

That generations comment was taken out of context by the gaming media, in the exact same interview he said that he also said they were going to support the PS4 for several more years, what do people think that means? lol They've had PS5 exclusive games already as well as cross gen.

I don't want companies who don't sell games in the console space buying out any of these publishers, but I do think having a platform maker try to buy up the industry because they couldn't take the top spot through true competition is BS. Nobody should be cheerleading these moves, let's say Sony buys Take Two as a defensive move and makes GTA exclusive to PlayStation that's not good for gaming it's only good for PlayStation. MS buying Bethesda was better than Apple or Google because they don't release games on consoles and Bethesda was looking to be sold, but this move is different and nobody should be cheering on attempted monopolization of the gaming industry, it's anti-consumer.

He has said they don't want to limit the places you can play games, buying everything up and making them exclusive is just that. The guy talks out of both sides of his mouth, he gets this "good guy" image but he's full of s***.

We put the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X head-to-head. After a year of using both, it's clear that the PS5 is a better buy for most gamers.

PlayStation 5 feels like a must-have for hardcore gamers, but the Xbox is a powerhouse for both gaming and media.

While the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are similar in terms of quality and performance, the PS5's exclusive games and gameplay-focused features make it more enticing for buyers who want an immersive experience and don't want to miss major releases.

Xbox Series X succeeds as a powerful media center with access to more than 15 years worth of Xbox games, but the ability to also play the newest Xbox titles on PC and Xbox One make the Series X less of a must-have machine.

Ultimately, if you're lucky enough to get your hands on the PS5 or Xbox Series X amid the ongoing supply shortage you won't be disappointed; both systems offer awesome exclusives and an impressive upgrade over the last generation of consoles.

Seems to me he has tried to put MS software on as many platforms as possible via Gamepass. Sony and Nintendo haven't been nearly as aggressive bringing their software to other platforms.

The only other platform is PC where they already were releasing their games anyway, Sony is now slowly doing that as well. As far as I can remember neither Sony or Nintendo have taken a game that was always multiplatform and bought it so others couldn't have it. Some dummies keep bringing up Spider-Man but that wasn't an existing series, it has NOTHING to do with the old Activision games or any other Spider-Man series, it's a character and Sony/Insomniac created their own story for it. That also likely has something to do with Sony and Marvel's working relationship with the movies but that's just speculation.

They forgot to add “capable graphics card of running new Xbox games on pc”….cos I can’t run horizon 5 or halo infinite on my pc 😭and I missed on on the few they had at Best Buy this morning 💀

And seeing through the bs...
Sony and Nintendo are the good guys in this scenario.
