Give us your DEFINITION of Next Generation.

You're going to have to spell this out for me...

No need. Just trust me mate. ;)

Anyhow, I still have this vision of what VR will do for gaming in general, but I wasn't expecting it to include holding traditional controllers still. Besides, are we THAT far ahead in technology for something like this to become viable, or even highly marketable or mainstream? Is the technology competent enough? I don't know... I'm not sure people are really ready for that If I'm being honest mate....

I always found it interesting that we like our games in 60 FPS but for movies 24 is still the sweet spot. I watched the hobbit in the 48 FPS and it just seemed...off. Like my brain just rejected it. Wonder if that's because I was so used to 24 like in all previous movies.

@Mcmasters Yeah VR is not going to be for everyone. At least at first. The input method is still kind of in question. If they could implement the sixense method with gloves to provide haptic feedback + a way to move around without moving (virtuix omni or something we dont know about yet) then it will truly be there. I sure as hell am excited about this first step though.

That's a whole other conversation I could comment on but will refrain. I think the next logical step in VR would be something closer to Illumiroom. But even Microsoft isn't really considering it at this point. People just arent ready and the market isnt primed for it yet. Doesn't make it any less interesting though....

Let's start with 1080p / 60 FPS minimum and VSYNC'ed. No more of this screen tearing garbage for improved performance. It's not asking much considering PCs have been able to pull it off for almost a decade.

I see some devs mention that the next-gen consoles can handle their games at 1080p 30 FPS. Hopefully that kind of bullish only lasts for the first year, otherwise I'm not interested in these so called "next-gen" systems...

Playing my PC and then going back to the 360 made me realize how bad 720p (and most often sub-720p) looks in comparison. And the screen tearing.. $@#! me, I just can't take it anymore.

Illumiroom is interesting but you still have to buy their special projector. The immersion is not anywhere near the Rift though. I think there is going to be a large market for VR. Maybe not mass market, but a significant enough one to start turning a lot of heads. We'll see, I'm hopeful. :)
