12 hours in and somehow the story and everything just seems to keep getting better and better. This has a strong chance of being the GOTY based on all aspects in terms of gameplay, production values, story writing, art direction, technical performance and just overall package.

Thank you Sony for allowing us to enable AUTO PICKUP. That is what I am talking about!
Yeah, I use that feature for everything except health. If I'm still in combat I'd rather choose when to grab health.

The game looks great but its not blowing my mind. Not like the first game did but its difficult to recreate that same level of amazement with a sequel. I'm playing using the high framerate resolution mode. The performance mode looks worse but the performance mode is doing something strange. My TV has a framerate counter and it shows the game's FPS fluctuating between 80-90fps. I found that framerate odd. Maybe my TV is not reading the FPS correctly, I'm not sure if there's anyway to verify it. No biggie since the game is really smooth.

The game's intro is a bit emotional. It looks like this will be a real rollercoaster of a ride story wise. Its funny to see chunky Kratos fold himself into such a tiny ball for his combat rolls. He's such a flexible Spartan.

The art direction and visual fidelity in some parts of this game is kind of fire 🔥
I agree. The more I play, the more it feels like a good step up from 2018. The fix to the light bleeding is huge and the shadows, materials, and lighting are all much better in my opinion. Still some of the very best character models in the industry.

The game just looks too cartoony for me to appreciate it as much as you do. Maybe it's the color palette, I don't know. But after playing MWII 2022, nothing is looking good right now in comparison. I do agree, it is a step up from 2018 though. Most importantly, I am having fun so far.

It's stupid how good this game is. The writing is excellent too. Every new level looks better than the last

i'm pretty sure that's the FPS range that DF said the highest frame rate mode seems to dwell in most of of the time.

I still haven't had a chance to start, maybe tonight or tomorrow at the latest. I'm seeing some reviewers say the game took 28 hours, and some say 55 hours! I think the high ends are for completionists, but that's quite the discrepancy! IGN was saying that if you're one of those collectibles completionists, not to worry too much about it until you finish the game. Apparently there are a bunch you will never be able to get to until the main story is complete, so not to spend too much time on them. I'm glad I heard that, there are games I rage quit due to spending hours trying to solve puzzles only to find out they were unsolvable until I played futher into the story.

GameSpot has 20-25 hours

Howlongtobeat has 20-21 hours for main story. 25 hours with side missions. 50+ for completionists

I'm at 16 hours in and I feel like I'm in the middle of the story still so there's that lol.

Whoever wrote this script needs an award pronto. This is gold so far!

I'm still in the dwarven realm so I haven't gotten very far although I have accomplished a big goal. I'm playing the 60fps mode. I've tried going back and forth with the 4K mode and it doesn't look different enough to me to make it worth cutting the framerate in half. If I could only play at a solid 30fps I'd be fine with that too but having the option is nice. It would be great if when the PS5 Pro comes out they can do 4K at 60 and maybe make a few more improvements here and there. Loving it so far but I expected to, God of War 2018 is one of my favorite games of all time.

This game on the PS4 Pro looks stunning to me. I played about 1.5 hours and was really impressed with the visuals. I still don't like the combat, which is why I stopped playing the 2018 game about halfway through. This is the first game since repasting the console 2 years ago where I can hear the fan again.

Best Buy, Gamestop and Targets within 30 miles of me all had them at different times this week. I've had to pass up on them since I can't drive right now with a knee injury. I might as well wait for the possible slim/pro model at this point. I don't really need one...I just want one for no real reason.

Speedy recovery to ya

I'm loving this game so much. The writing and character development is smoking anything I've seen recently. Fun to play, hood balance of challenge, and great variety. Beautiful game as well. 10/10 so far
