God of War

I play on easy as well, because my mom gets mad having to replace the controllers I brake when I rage out.

Almost done with the game. Few more days until i get my platinum and then i'll never touch it again. Them Sony one and done games. It's like having blue balls only she delivers. What a ride man.

Is the increase in text size noticeable? I haven't played in a week waiting on it.

I'm gonna say this now. Niffelheim can suck my balls. It's the only time I've ever lowered difficulty to get through a section because it was so grindy/frustrating.

Duck it and it's little dog too. Imma have nightmares of mist, witches and werewolves. I don't mind draugrs and trolls though. I hate those underground poison dog-lizards too!

Starting to really appreciate this game. I've opened a few territories and explored a fair bit, met some interesting characters, including one that's been very unique, to say the least. The game is a lot funnier than I expected, which is great. The visuals are beautiful. I like the semi-linear structure, too.

I've gotten competent with the combat. I wouldn't say I'm good, just passable, but it's enough. Atreus is a lot of help now, and I've gotten some good upgrades. I prefer ranged attacks when possible. My issue is that I tend to forget certain attacks (e.g., newly unlocked combos or runic attacks) are available to me, so in the heat of combat, I don't use them but instead just default to the familiar. I still have trouble with some enemies, especially when they come in swarms, but I haven't died in a long time, so that's good. It's nice when combat starts to click.

I'm using a Custom HUD that I like a lot. Everything is off except boss health bars, but I can bring up certain things (like health/rage levels) with a press of the touchpad. Works very nicely. It's similar to my Horizon HUD. It's more immersive, and it feels better in combat -- I'm not distracted by all the health/stun bars and other indicators.

Skill points seem very plentiful. I've got 10K in excess, and I don't know what to do with them all. I'm just holding on to them for now.

I'm not reading the lore. Hopefully, I'm not missing out on too much. I'm getting the main idea, and I don't really feel like reading about all the gods and the backstories.

You'd think Kratos would just open chests, rather than punching his way through them. Oh well. Anger issues.

Anyway, really well done game, enjoying it a lot. It took me a few hours to warm up to it, but I'm into it now.

Don't forget, you can use the Skill Points to upgrade your runic attacks as well and those can be expensive for tier 3.

Right. I don't think I've settled on which runic attacks I like best, so I'm hesitant to spend that much to upgrade them, at least until I have a better sense of which ones I prefer.

I am about 40 hours into this game and now working my way through the challenges in muselpheim which are awesome. Probably going to take another 20 hours for me to platinum.

I completed the story last weekend. What a great game. I really hope new game plus is added soon so I can replay the game with all the gear I acquired.

Those Muspelheim trials were very challenging. But it was fun and the rewards made it worth it. Niflheim was not as challenging for me but it was a lot of fun learning to navigate the maze and you get some sweet loot. The only thing left for me now is to defeat the rest of the Valkyries. That should be fun. They are not as difficult now that I’m familiar with their patterns and have way better gear. I did read the Valkyrie Queen is no joke so I look forward to that battle.

If you’re still playing through the story I would suggest you don’t spend too much time in the optional areas like I did. I got distracted by the optional area Muspelheim and it really threw off the story pacing. If I could do it all over again I would tackle the optional areas after completing the main quest first.

Man, this game doesn't let up on the combat, does it? I finish off one tough fight, then it's another, and another, and another. Then, when I think I've cleared things for a while, it's another, tougher than before.

I keep waiting for Kratos to take a breather -- sit at a campfire and tell a story or something. I haven't played a game like this in a while, one that is so heavy on the combat. I've never played a God of War game before, either. I guess that's the nature of the series -- lots of fighting. I'm enjoying it, but it's a more tense experience than I'm used to.

Does this game get any better after...

Fighting that dragon and removing it's tooth?

I haven't played it in almost 2 weeks and haven't been compelled to do so from what I've played so far.

That’s great fight but oh yes, it does indeed get better.

The older ones were even more combat heavy but they were really arcadey too, just constant attack with the blades hitting enemies all around you, only time you weren't fighting was during puzzles, cut scenes or running from one area to the next lol. This one has a bit more exploration in it.

Damn, just finished beating that first Valkyrie. I must have died 20 times. I was tempted to turn it down to easy, but I didn't. I felt like that would be an admission of defeat, lol. But man, that was a tough fight. I don't feel a sense of accomplishment, so much as a sense of relief, like "whew, glad that's over."

I know there are other Valkyries, but I'm not going to bother with them. Those are for people who are better at this combat than I am, or who enjoy these tough fights. Not me.

I'm not going to bother with the Musphelheim (?) trials, either. No doubt I'm missing out on some nice loot, but I've never enjoyed progressively harder, timed arena trials. They seem like a chore to me. Fortunately that seems optional, too.

Just drop the difficulty for that section. I don't usually do that, but had to for niffelheim

Thanks, I went ahead and did that. Plowed through the first couple arenas. I'll come back for more later.

This is the first game to make my PS4 whirr. It also whirrs a little on Horizon's map, but not in the game. But with God of War, I'll hear it periodically at lots of different points. Seems like it's really pushing the console. It can be a little distracting, but it goes away after 10 seconds or so.

Oh yeah, My fan is on hyper mode for this game. It's obviously pretty stressful.

I would recommend doing the Niffelheim realm because it's easily the best armor set in the game. Just remember to grind the first couple rooms for mist echoes to buy up the armor pieces. DON'T do the chests first! Get the armor and load their enchantments with the Anti-mist ones you pick up (and the talisman). It's much more tolerable if you don't have to worry about the mist timer running out! Then you can do the rounds in the "maze". Play it safe and make sure you get back to the safe zone to "drop off" your mist echoes or you will lose them when you die.

Its possible that the realms we can see but not travel to could be in another game or DLC...

They have said clearly more than once that this was not and is not the plan.

So yeah. Those realms are definitely coming as DLC.

Mine was noisy too, especially in the Menu's but after my external HDD died and I replaced it with an SSD it's quiet as can be, it may have been the HDD making the noise in my case.

Nifleheim armor is best for that realm but I disagree that its the best overall armor. I find the Valkyrie armor to be the best since all three pieces have their own perks. And I'm not sure if its because of the enhancements I have equipped on the armor or if its the armor itself but my "Luck" stat which determines perk activation is pretty high making those perks activate frequently. Throw on the Infinity Gauntlet talisman and destroy everything.

Valkyrie armor is nowhere close for me, but I can't upgrade it because I need the special Asguardian steel and I don't have any.
