New Game + mode will be out August 20th.

  • Relive the journey of Kratos and Atreus with all of your previous armors, enchantments, talismans, resources and abilities on the difficulty of your choosing.
  • Test your skills against higher level enemies; some of which might even have a few new tricks up their sleeves!
  • Unique to New Game+ is a brand new rarity level of equipment to craft and upgrade! Collect ‘Skap Slag’, a new resource to upgrade your gear to the best of the best from our finest blacksmiths.
  • Play the game in a whole new way by exploring new customization options with extremely powerful new armor sets and enchantments.
  • Finally, get right back into the action with the newly added ability to skip through cinematics in both normal and New Game+ modes once a full play through has been completed.

I haven't played this since 2 weeks after it came out. I'll never get around to NG+

the way this game is designed really makes it hard to replay (the travel, open world aspect). i replayed GoW 3 about 4 times over the years, i really dont see myself doing that for this game

So much for one and done. The GOTY keeps getting love.

Booted the game back up for the first time since I beat it a few months ago. Cleaned up for the platinum then started new game +

Really enjoying the game just as much as my first playthrough. The new and more powerful equipment definitely is a incentive to loot everything in sight again for the new skip slag resource to further upgrade them.

I'm in the extreme monority here in that I didnt really enjoy the game. It just felt so detached from its origins in terms of gameplay. Didn't like the axe or combat at all. Gorgeous game though.

I'll probably give it another try down the road.

I don't like it at all. I don't even know how far into the game I'm at, but I did something bad to some witch's animal or something and stopped. I've played almost all of the GOW games including the PSP games and never finished any of them. I don't see what all the fuss with this game is about.

Finally beat GOD, great game. After getting an ironic weapon mid-game, the game gets a little easy. The regular monster & bossed are okayish, though some realm monster (if you are under level) can be tough. The Valkyries are pretty tough, but I guess you are supposed to tackle them late/end game. Tried 3 mid-game, only manage to beat one, but wasn't too far from beating the other 2 but lack a bit of damage/life. I bet I will do better now, but I am done with the game.

Couldn't be more excited to play this after picking up the Black Friday Spiderman PS4 bundle for Christmas. Seeing as GoW3 HD was only 5 bucks CDN on PSN, I grabbed that also and crushed it in three sittings, quite the feat these days for a 36 year old father of two babies under 1.5 years old. Somehow I missed out on the release hype earlier in the year, but in skimming through most of this thread (thanks, spoiler d*cks) I have some pretty high hopes for what has always been my favourite campaign franchise.

Any other recommendations for fans of the franchise to pick up on the PSN sale going on? I grabbed Journey and TLOU also, would love you thoughts on other games for the PS4, knowing that GOW will probably be the best of the bunch.

You might check out the New Owners thread, because that question gets asked a lot there. Here is my usual response:

Horizon Zero Dawn
Until Dawn
Ratchet & Clank
Uncharted: Nathan Drake trilogy
Uncharted 4
Uncharted Lost Legacy if you like the UC stuff
Detroit
Yakuza 0
Spider-Man

I don't know if any of those are on sale, but those are the main ones worth playing, imo. I've probably forgotten a couple.

Others you might check out:
The Last Guardian and/or the Shadow of the Colossus remake (if you like Ico-styled games)
Gravity Rush remastered (if you want a quirky charming Japanese game)
Bloodborne (popular choice, although I haven't played it)

Thanks Andy. I want to consult with my GoW brethren before asking in a more general space. Appreciate the input. I have been eyeballing UC4, SotC and TLG. Until Dawn and Detroit looks really cool at first glance, I'll have to dig a bit deeper on those.

Still making my way through this game, taking my time to explore as I find new areas, and the combat really opens up after you've upgraded your Axe a bit and progressed through the story a bit. I've maxed Atreus already, what a fun companion! Easy to instruct hes really useful in combat. I'm not surprised I'm enjoying a GoW game, but I am surprised at how much this game continues to surprise me with its depth. Love it
