Right? His death is unsatisfying.

I just watched Gozilla Blu-ray again and I still don't see how Kong will mutate to match the Gozilla's sheer size and strength. I mean he could withstand kiloton atomic bombs. I doubt even the Cloverfield monster or the Kaijus in Pacific Rim would be a match for the King of Monsters. I'll give Kong agility and his human-like intelligence meaning he can use tools and weapons to his advantage. If they give the win to either one, they would risk upsetting the fanbase and being unfair to these monsters' iconic status. I guess they'll have Kong and Godzilla fight to death then finally realize they have the same enemy so they team up to take it down which is similar to Batman v Superman.

Plot twist... Godzilla and Kong mothers are both named Martha.

Oh no I loved the death.

Also the film says Kong is still growing and is currently at 100ft tall

Godzilla vs. Kong' To Reportedly Start Filming In October
Matthew Mueller

02/21/2018

The anticipated Godzilla vs. Kong is still a ways off, but the good news is that filming doesn't seem to be that far away.

The showdown isn't slated to release until 2020, but it seems the film will start shooting on October 1st and will wrap up sometime in February of 2019 (via Omega Underground). Godzilla vs. Kong is shooting in Atlanta, Georgia.

Godzilla vs. Kong will be helmed by Adam Wingard, but fans of Kong: Skull Island should be pleased to hear that some of the same sensibilities of Kong will make their way into the upcoming showdown.

“Talking to Adam made me so happy because he, in particular, really understands the kind of anime, manga, mech sensibility that I was trying to bring to Kong," Roberts told Collider. "He gets that and that was something that I fought so hard for and was so difficult to sort of realize to life through concept to execution with ILM [Industrial Light and Magic.] That’s one of the things I’m most proud of with him. I think he truly gets that and he truly wants to lean into this version of Kong that kind of was born from my crazy and stupid video game brain.”

The Monsterverse won't just be getting a Kong Godzilla collision though, as the Godzilla sequel will introduce a plethora of iconic monsters to the fold. Whether any of them show up in Godzilla vs. Kong remains to be seen, but we wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

The movies have been mostly well received by fans. 2014's Godzilla was produced on a budget of $160 million and brought in over $200 million domestically. Internationally it brought in over $328 million, resulting in a worldwide total of $529 million. Kong: Skull Island was produced for $185 million, and would bring in just over $168 million domestically. Internationally it fared much better with $398 million, resulting in a total worldwide box office of $566 million.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is up next on March 22, 2019, while Godzilla vs. Kong hits theaters on May 22, 2020. No direct sequel to Kong: Skull Island has been announced.

Warner Bros. announced today that they've pushed back their upcoming Godzilla sequel, rumored to be titled Godzilla: King of the Monsters, from March 22 to May 31, 2019.

It now exits a busy spring that will see the releases of Marvel's Captain Marvel (March , Disney's Dumbo(March 29), and Warner Bros.' Shazam! (April 5) to a prime summer date where it will square off with the second week of Disney's Aladdin. Strategically, it's actually a pretty smart move as it opens far away from serious competition like Marvel's Avengers 4 (May 3) and several weeks before similar genre features like Sony's Men In Black (June 14) and Universal's Cowboy Ninja Viking (June 2:cool:.

Its going to be like Batman V Superman and they end up teaming up to beat a stronger monster...

From Collider:

"We’ve known for a while now that King of the Monsters will be bringing King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan into the fold, and Dougherty says the film does Rodan justice after the character has played sidekick to Godzilla in previous features.
Then there are the humans, with Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, and Kyle Chandler leading the charge in that department. Farmiga plays Dr. Emma Russell, a scientist working for Monarch, while Brown plays her daughter. The two find themselves kidnapped by a mysterious organization, and Chandler’s Mark Russell—the ex-husband of Farmiga’s character—sets out to rescue them. Yes folks, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is a “Coach Taylor Has to Save His Family” monster movie.
Legendary Entertainment is already deep into development on Godzilla vs. Kong, which follows these two Godzilla films and Kong: Skull Island and has Adam Wingard (You’re Next) directing. While Dougherty says King of the Monsters isn’t too concerned with introducing Kong, there are “bread crumbs” hinting towards his arrival and eventual showdown with Godzilla.
Check out the other Godzilla 2 image below, and stay tuned as the first trailer likely drops a week from Saturday at Comic-Con. Godzilla: King of the Monsters opens in theaters on May 31, 2019."

Ohh man, a possible new trailer at Comic Con?? Hell yes. Please don't f*ck this up. The last one was ok, but I liked King Kong better.

Shin Godzilla was great though, did anyone here see it? Even the Godzilla anime movie was pretty good.

I REALLY hope they do the other monsters justice and give them a little bit of a personality.

They screwed up the first Godzilla but I’m still pumped for the sequel. I think I may lose my mind when Godzilla vs Kong comes out

As someone that hasn't watched the Japanese Godzilla movies, I thought the new one was really good. Definitely better than Godzilla 98. Haven't seen King Kong yet but want to for sure. Also want to watch Shin Godzilla. Looking forward to this new movie as well.

If you’ve never seen a Japanese Godzilla movie, you might want to check out one or 2 of the old ones.

Shin Godzilla does a fantastic job of paying homage to the tone of the old ones, but keeping it modern. It might not make as much sense if you’ve never seen the older ones, I think you’ll still enjoy it, but you’d probably enjoy it more with a little background.

Either way, I’d like to hear what you think afterwards.

As slow as I am getting to watch movies, we'll probably both forget about these comments by the time I get to it lol.

Both of the most recent Godzilla films in the US suffered from writers over thinking the films. The 98 version tried to make Godzilla a lizard and the newest one made him a background character.

I suppose they tried to make it like any other disaster film, but with a monster instead of a killer storm or volcano.
