N64 emulation rather than the remake which sucks.

This is why the Switch version has online MP but as mentioned everyone sees each others screens. Imagine playing that in handheld mode!

Really hope this is just holding over while they update the 360 version for both Xbox and Switch with a proper online MP mode.

Interesting. The Switch version is the OG version, which is why it has online. The Xbox version is newly recreated.

Microsoft confirmed the lack of online multiplayer mode on Xbox in a statement to The Verge, and it appears to be because the Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions are actually different. Nintendo appears to be using the original game, whereas Microsoft says it has made a “faithful recreation” of GoldenEye 007. There is no announced date for the GoldenEye 007 release just yet on either platforms.

"Microsoft has confirmed it has "no plans" to add online multiplayer to the Xbox Game Pass version of GoldenEye 007"

Is the Game Pass version different than the Xbox Series/One version that you pay for?

No. Its also free to anyone who has a digital copy of Rare Replay [which MS gave away free a couple years back]

Rare Replay is currently dirt cheap for anyone who doesn't have it yet

I found the game via the recently added section in Gamepass in the store to download my copy. Though it looks like anyone who has a digital copy of RR should have it automatically added to the ready to install section. You don't need to go into RR to play.

And now I'm looking at the title screen. That theme still hits hard.

I played through the first mission and part of the second mission. It is upscaled to 4K and it still has all the goofy parts you may have forgotten (the awkward side jump the guards do, etc.), but I thought it was also quite fun. I also forgot that it invites you to completely screw yourself, such as making terminals required to open doors fully destructible. It won't just restart you or tell you when that happens either - you just have to restart the mission manually.

Well then, I ain't got time for that. So I will be deleting this game.
