Hey guys,

My friend got my Destiny for my birthday, which surprised the hell out of me. It wasn't a game I was planning to get, at least not right away.

In any case, I played it around 2 hours last night and enjoyed myself, but I'm quite lost. I get the basics, but I was wondering if anyone can offer some tips or point to a non-video resource to help me get over my noob-ness.

So far I've just run a few of the missions the game tells me to. These maps are quite large. I am one to explore a lot, but so far, every time I have, I encounter enemies with ?? on their heads and they one-shot me, which leads me to believe that I wasn't supposed to be there. Are these just things I should come back to when I'm more powerful?

There was an event going on in one of the maps I was in, with a countdown. So I ran over to participate, but then the game crashed with an error and sent me back to the title screen. Is this common?

Also, what are your favorite classes and are there significant differences between them?

Just play through story missions first, level up, play some strikes, try to find good gear and the Crucible (pvp) if you want. The ?? Over the heads means you're not ready for them yet.

The event you encountered is a public one in which random people group up to accomplish a task. You crashing to title screen is not normal, it's a result of bungie's servers bugging out.

I've tried the warlock in beta, thought it was pretty good. Now I have the hunter and enjoying it as well. I suggest reading up on their different abilities to see what appeals to you the most.

and this is on the ps4 right? Join our clan, we can join up sometime!

Thanks for the info, man! How do I join your clan?

My initial advice would be to not open it and trade it for something else. Just wait for the definitive edition that has all the content they stripped out for DLC. But, seeing as you already opened it / enjoy.

It was a gift from a friend who wants to play it with me online, so that wasn't an option.

Wasn't able to play last night because the game server was down. This is the thing about online only games that I hate. To make things worse, the only time I had a chance to join an event, it also crashed to title screen lol.

I'm going to put it down for a bit and see if they can fix up their network problems.

Really? That's weird, I've put about 24 hours into the game and haven't had a single problem or even lag. Overall I think the launch has been very smooth.

As for Lnin0 advice, ignore it. Though the game has some flaws I think it's a very good game with lots of replay value that's only to get better over time. I've yet to talk to a person that has gotten deeper into the game and doesn't like it.

Lnin0 seems to have it out for this game, even though I don't think he even owns it or has gotten past Lvl 8 or 9 as he was questioning the purpose of the tower and the game being online only, which becomes very evident once you get deeper into the game.

Yeah, I seem to get very unlucky when it comes to these sort of things. I don't really have anything else to play right now, so I'll try to sink some more time in it this weekend. Diablo III is starting to get a bit repetitive, but only because I've played it so damn much lol.

I have the game now, and it cost me $0, so I may as well enjoy it. I'm sure it will only get better with time, and not all improvements / contents will ask me to pull out my wallet.
