Legendary original circuit Grand Valley will return to the Gran Turismo series this week, with the course included in the already huge v1.29 update, due February 21.

Grand Valley Speedway is of course one of the circuits which appeared in the original Gran Turismo, 25 years ago, and has been in every main release since. However it was, like all the other old-guard circuits, culled from GT Sport’s list, and hasn’t been seen since — aside from appearing as an icon of the East circuit in the game representing race tracks as a whole.

After the return of Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring, and Deep Forest, and the pre-launch tease of Apricot Hill (among others), Grand Valley is one of the tracks GT fans have been convinced will be making its return in GT7 — and it’s arrived a lot sooner than we thought.

Like the other original circuits returning, Grand Valley looks to have had something of a makeover. The name, for starters, is a little different as it appears as “Grand Valley Highway 1” in the teaser video rather than “Grand Valley Speedway”.

We haven’t yet seen video of the entire track in action, but there are certainly some unfamiliar pieces on the brief glimpses we do see as well as in some of the images provided. The oceanside location is also new, and the official announcement states that the circuit has an “all-new look”.

Along with the main circuit there’s also a new “South” layout. This shorter course comes in at 2km (1.24 miles) and promises “harsh elevation changes and blind corners to keep drivers on their toes”.

The layout changes will no doubt prove to be divisive, as fans are still split over the changes to Deep Forest and Trial Mountain, though we’ll wait to see the completed circuit in action.

It’s a significant item in an already major update which sees not only the addition of full support for PlayStation VR2 on PlayStation 5 but the debut of the new Gran Turismo Sophy AI in a limited game mode — only a year on from when it was first revealed.

There’s also four new cars coming, with the Citroen DS21 Pallas, Honda RA272, and Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS joined by two versions of a new Vision Gran Turismo car from legendary Italian atelier ItalDesign.

The v1.29 update will be free to download and is available at around 0600 UTC on Tuesday February 21.

Just did eight laps on the new Grand Valley track. It's the exact same layout, as the old GV layout in past games, but the environment is different. It's now based on a actual segment of a California coastal highway. Interesting choice but didn't take long for me to recognize the layout from a driving perspective.

Don’t give a s*** about the VR gimmick. But the rest of the update is solid.

Pretty sure he spent more time on Twitter trying to justify his purchase than actually using his PSVR2. lol.
I’m still trying to justify my purchase…. It’ll probably stay in the box for a while too 😆

I know I’m probably in the minority, or just plain crazy, but I prefer playing gt with the d-pad. Haven’t seen a wheel/pedal setup I’ve ever liked, kinda don’t want to buy one just for one game 😆 maybe if it, the wheel, works on the Xbox as well maybe.

What ever works best for you, but yeah, you'll be a minority of a small minority, lol.

Only wheel that works on PS and xbox is an expensive Fanatec wheel as far as I can find. Not sure what you mean by "liked." Do you mean aesthetically?

There are other games you can play. ACC is full sim. PC2 is inbetween ACC and GT/Forza. Even games like PC3 or Grid Legends work well despite being more arcade. You have the F1 games. You have Dirt Rally 2(also has Rally Cross in it).

Looks don’t really matter, more of the feel and would it take the abuse of kids lol my nieces love fh4/5.

I don’t play much racing after the fire of what is the first few weeks of trying to beat the times/scores of yours or others here.

Yeah. not much point getting a wheel if that is your mentality. You just wouldn't get the use of it to justify it IMO.

As for the kids, hard to tell. Kids have so many levels of abuse, lol.

Still waiting for this to go back on sale.
I think you will enjoy it. My biggest issue with the game is the user interface is a mess, especially when going back and forth between cafe menus (campaign) and races. Other than that, it's a solid game.

Just did an easy and intermediate Sophy race. 1st place in both. Expert next. Not noticing much though 🤷‍♂️

Well, the expert Sophy beat me, but I only tried once. I think my braking needs some work. I am braking too early I believe.

I don't know why the camera view is like this, I couldn't figure out how to change it.

Hard to tell when you're breaking here. So, can't help here.

However, your racing line is doing you no favours at all. Stay wide. You're turning in to soon on some of these corners too.

You using manual? Automatic will cost you time.

Yes, watching it back now I am not staying wide. Thank you!

A game changer as per DF

It's the quality of the games that will make or break PlayStation VR2 - and launch titles supplied in the review period did not quite convince. Gran Turismo 7 was made available to journalists and public alike at the headset's launch - and it's a game-changer. In this video, John breaks down how good the VR upgrade is, and how Sony achieved it, with head-to-head comparisons with the standard 'flat' version of the game.
