It seems all their big hitters are cross gen. But with GT7 likely to be the only GT game on PS5 it is a shame.
They kinda have to, until numbers come up, otherwise they alienate a mighty big group of gamers. It’s like a curse and a blessing at the same time….money lost if they don’t really, I’d wager to say that gt is one of their biggest investments, and it’s always “it’s finished when it’s finished” type deals.

It truly is that. And people expect that now when it comes to Polyphony Digital and Gran Turismo. If they said GT7 will be out in 2030, nobody will bat an eye. That's because we know we will get a great quality game.

Yeah and they already said their transition from PS4 to Ps5 will take 3 years so it's expected to receive a combination of cross gen and Ps5 exclusive games in the meantime until end of 2023.

If the game looks next gen enough like Miles and HFW, I'm okay with it even though I would prefer Ps5 only.

If it wss like other franchises then yeah, but the issue here is this likely will be the only GT game all gen. IMO it needs to be fully next gen with zero hampering from cross gen support because of it.

It's a double edged sword for sure. The racing community will be larger with the PS4 included. If it's just next gen PS5, there would only be what, a few million max on the game? Depending on how many new consoles they can produce and sell by the time GT7 releases.

So do you want a smaller community with proper next gen specs or a cross gen with much more potential racers and a next gen / last gen mode?

I want the best game possible.

They could do it just like GT Sport. Release it with less consoles, but continue to support it for years to come with new content, new tournaments, new tracks, and new campaign editions. GT Sport is now accessible to 110 million PS4 players. At some point, GT7 will be accessible to 110 million PS5 players.

The problem now with it being cross gen is it will basically be GT Sport but with the rest of the GT package. Upgraded features and new features are just dead now. Grid sizes won't improve much if at all. Dynamic weather isn't happening. Physics will be held back massively. Tire models will be held back massively.

Such a terrible decision.

Disappointing for sure. Gotta hope if this gen drags out again with a refresh at some point that we'll get another GT in 3-4 years, but considering how long they take to make a game I doubt it.

hmmm, how bout a free-2-race version on ps4 and let them buy season packs of race cars, as each one coincides with said cars being finished (modeled) for the final release on ps5….kinda like a count down, whilst keeping fans happy-ish and giving them time to produce more ps5s

By the time it’s released there may be a slim or pro version.

If Yamauchi has his way there’ll probably won’t be any dynamic weather or dynamic time of day either. He doesn’t want to recreate a realistic environment he wants to create a beautiful environment that’s prettier than real life as well

The irony here is the game is full of real world environments recreated to within inches of its real life counterpart. It also doesn't fit what GT Sport is and will be in GT7.

No idea why my name is attached to Hedon's post.

Indeed, but he rather it be a showcase where it “looks better”… like if you take a pic something you’d rather it be with direct light instead of its shadow. He wants total control

WIth more choices like Project Cars 2, Assetto Corsa, & even F1, do people still excited for a GT game?

Yep, cause the online in games like PC and AC die extremely quickly.

GT Sport is what 5 years old? And the ohline is booming at any time of day. Assetto Corsa Competitione that is like 1 year old is practically dead at peak UK time.

I only hate that I have to wait until July for F1 2021. Wish it was released earlier in the season.

I haven't played an F1 game. Probably because I am not the biggest fan of F1 racing. I have no issue with F1, but just never got around to watching. I have watched the Indy 500 a couple times though.

Hmmm, maybe due to being on console. Hardcore who like sim racing tends to play on PC with sim wheels.

Is it? I know 19 is. (My 10 year old has gotten us hooked on F1 because apparently some of the drivers voiced characters in Cars 2, and now we watch every race). If I were better at racing now I'd probably buy 21 at launch, but I just don't have that type of time any more. :( Definitely looking forward to Frontier's F1 manager game next year, though.

It is 19. I got confused with Moto GP 2020.

"Gran Turismo 7, after all, was outright advertised as a PS5 exclusive in December, although to be fair to Sony, I understand the decision to release a PS4 version was made only fairly recently. For Horizon Forbidden West and God of War, however, these games were always intended to release as cross-gen titles, I was told, but Sony did not mention the last-gen console during the announcement of either title."
