Well, it'll be my first "official" half-marathon. Can't wait! It'll be nice to see Colorado again.

8 minutes is very, very fast, actually. If you're trying to build distance, slow down and you won't hate it so much. I shoot for 10:45-12:00 on my runs.

I have to beat a time. Two miles in under 15:45. I'm behind that pace. I've introduced a breathing pattern to help keep a nice rhythm and breathing uniform.

What's the significance?

I'd still add a mile or two and slow down a bit, or at the very least, vary your routine. You'll still get stronger, but you'll put your body under far less stress (and less chance for injury!).

So are you saying your HM is in Colorado? If so, where have you been training? Hopefully the altitude doesn't mess with you. Good luck anyway.

I live in Phoenix, where I moved a year and a half ago. I've done three HM+ lengths in my full marathon training already, but this will be the first official, organized half-marathon I do and the second organized run I've ever done. If I push this over - which I should without issue - it'll be the first medal I've ever earned in my entire life, haha.

I'm a little concerned about the elevation change, but I know people who have done it and it seems more like a psychosomatic thing. I'm actually more concerned about the elevation changes in the course since it's relatively flat here, so I haven't been able to train much on that.
