Production of Half-Life 3 has been confirmed after Valve's database briefly became open to the public.

Valve's Jira database - which the teams use to track bugs - exposed itself for a short period of time, allowing fans to see what was happening in the system.

Users could see various internal development groups currently on the Valve roster, including one marked "Half-Life 3".

That group has 46 staff members assigned and another marked "Half-Life 3 Core" had a staff total of 10.

Many of the people listed also worked on Half-Life 2.

The list includes Adam Foster, who created the Half-Life 2 mod Minerva; sound designer and musician Kelly Bailey; David Speyrer, a supervisor on Half-Life 2; and Half-Life series veterans Jeff Lane and Jim Hughes.

Rounding out the team are Portal and Left 4 Dead co-writer Erik Wolpaw, level designer John Guthrie, Jean Rochefort, Karl Whinnie, Sergiy Migdalskiy, Michael Coupland, writer Marc Laidlaw and Ken Banks.

This happened the day after Valve registered Half-Life 3 as a trademark, and the week after Valve announced ambitious plans to launch a range of gaming hardware.

This new incident does indicate that the project has expanded and is ramping up to full-scale production.

L4D3 is also still in that database. Which to be honest, I'm more excited for. Not much of a HL fan.

It's all a ruse. They're actually doing Kingdom Hearts 3 for Square because Square takes so long to get their games out and Valve is known for their development speed.:banana:

Now what would surprise me a lot is if they decided to bring back Adrian Shephard (
Half-Life: Opposing Force)
As it would seem that G-man has lost his control over Freeman in the episodes he really only has one other human he can control, at least known within the games, he did spare Adrian Shepard and would be weird if he did not do it for a reason (other then he was impressed ).
I would like to believe that there is a bigger reason for this, that he needed a backup plan.
However it would seem that the plot from Opposing Force has been abandoned when looking at Half life 2 and the episodes.

Also hope that they got at least one level in Half-Life 3 that is close to what Ravenholm was, really liked that level.

It has to be true. Valve/Gabe usually give a statement to shoot down "leaks" or rumors quickly.

I'd expect HL3 to release along side retail SteamBox units, probably with 1-3 HL3 bundles. Something like

Mid-tier SteamBox + HL3 standard edition
High-tier SB + HL3 CE
Top of the line SB + HL3 super collectors awesome box set edition

So instead of the new HL being in the Orange Box, it'll be in the SteamBox. Clever Valve is clever.
