Halo 5: Guardians

Are We Getting A Halo 5 Reveal Tomorrow?

http://www.gamersftw.co.uk/video-games/getting-halo-5-reveal-tomorrow/

Well trusted industry insider @shinobi602, has tweeted “Oh s***…what’s this…” followed by an image of Master Chief (pictured above) with #tomorrow attached to the photo. Then he followed the tweet up with another tweet saying #Halo5. Shinobi then went on to say, “What I’ve been told is embargo lifts tomorrow. 6 AM. East coast.” Shinobi then confirmed in a conversation with a follower, that it will not be Halo 2 Anniversary Edition news. Even though E3 is just around the corner, it’d make sense for them to reveal it as it seems Microsoft is trying to pull in as many sales as it can for it’s Xbox One, like doing things such as making a Kinectless Xbox One purchasable. Let me know what you guys think down in the comments, and as always keep it here with as at GamersFTW for the latest in gaming news, reviews and articles.

I will be watching IGN for this I expect if its big for Neogaf to go down

Halo 5: Guardians announced for Xbox One
Happy Friday to one and all. It's a big day for OXM, as it's Log's last day in the office before he runs away to Nottingham to run a pub. Sad times, for those left behind by him here in London at least. On a cheerier note though, here's an extra tasty morsel of news: the next Halo game has officially been announced as Halo 5: Guardians.

"Any time you transition to a new platform, there is the opportunity to look at things with a new perspective," wrote 343's GM Bonnie Ross in a post over on Xbox Wire. "For us at 343 Industries, the launch of the Xbox One was an opportunity to think about what stories we wanted to tell, how to tell them, and how best to push the Halo franchise to showcase the platform. And maybe, most importantly, combining our passion for Halo with the vocal and informative input from our fans.

"Halo isn't simply a perennial game franchise, it's a part of the Xbox platform itself," she continued. "In terms of innovation and ideation, it's sometimes important to people who might not even play Halo. In the past, Halo games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a Halo game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we've been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial. It's a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the Halo game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.

"I'm happy to reveal that Halo 5: Guardians, the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015. In the tradition of every Halo game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project."

Ross promised to give further details on the game, and the Halo TV series tie-in, at the Xbox E3 Media Briefing next month in LA, but she did say that Halo 5: Guardians was "a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what's now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we've invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One's hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen."

2015 is a bit of a way off though, so to keep us on our toes, 343 also hinted at more, "extra special" Halo news coming at E3 this year. It said that the new Halo franchise endeavors are a "journey," and that that journey begins in 2014. Intriguing...

Another pre-E3 announcement from Microsoft.

I think this is similar to the Kinect removal in that they're getting the "bad" news out of the way early.

They promised Halo would be out this year and a lot of people assumed that would be Halo 5. If they announced that it was coming 2015 at E3 that's all that people would focus on.

Now we can get the complaints out of the way, and at E3 we can focus on enjoying the gameplay .

These are the things you'd expect to happen during their E3 shows, but they do it way before E3 starts. Makes me wonder what they could have in store for us at E3. Seems like they were not exeggerating when they said they had so much content. Fall 2015 is alright with me, let them take their time. new engine wohoo!

How would you know if it was rushed? For all we know they had this cooking while making Halo 4.

Halo 5 would have only had a 2 year dev cycle if released this year. This is a franchise that needs more care than that. As it stands, we now know that it wont be released until Nov of next year, so it's no longer an issue for me. Hopefully Anniversary 2 is real, and we can get our Halo fix that way until H5.

Halo 2 Anniversary for Xbox One this year, using the Azure Cloud for dedicated servers maybe?

Awesome! DX12 + Cloud power confirmed!

Oh yes! I'm going to hate the wait (especially after they drop the knowledge at E3), but all of this sounds awesome:

"Bonnie Ross, general manager at 343, made the announcement on ablog post that detailed the future of the Halo franchise as a whole. Ross talked about Master Chief's next journey, saying, "Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4. That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen."

The game will run "at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we've been dreaming of for more than a decade," and will also be powered by a new engine.

We got our first glimpse at the next generation of Halo at Microsoft's E3 2013 press conference, which featured a short teaser showcasing the iconic character trudging across a desert in a poncho.

Ross also hinted at what we'd see from the franchise at this year's E3, stating, "Many fans noted that I was very deliberate with my phrasing on stage at E3 last year. I spoke about a 'journey,' rather than a destination – and that journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step. We’ll give you much more information about our plans for this year at the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing on June 9, and we’re confident that Halo fans will be pretty excited [about] the special plans we have in store."

No mention of 1080p.

I'm sure Halo 2 redux is coming this fall. Every holiday MSFT releases their AAA game, it's either Gears or Halo.

I just really hope Halo 5 isn't a repeat of Reach/Halo 4 with the ordinance crap, the armor abilities, etc.

Just give us vanilla Halo that made the game so great.

60fps though...damn that'll be nice for a Halo game.

Who wants to start wagers on Halo 5 having aim down the sights on the gunplay?

Anyone? Anyone?

60fps on dedicated servers would be my priority, along with maps that are as good as Halo 1 and Halo 2 maps.

A new breed of SPARTAN to take the mantle? Mmm,..

But until I see some screens that show me the new NEW I will withold all excitement. I'm serious,I DO NOT want to see that same goddamn architechture ever again. I want new textures and level designs. And I want it in cash.

Assuming we are still dealing with the Forerunner's they architecture will be the same. You can't change that or it wouldn't feel like Halo.

I'm glad they delayed it to fall 2015, we don't want a rushed game. It also gives the devs time to make full use of DX12.

Can't wait to see the presentation at E3

Could be MP only. We should not take developers comments at face value until the game is gold. For all we kow, it could run at 120, 4K & solve world hunger, or maybe run 30fps for SP (Not that I have an issue), but just wait & see.
