If they had actually made a real story and built out a campaign that took place in different parts of the ring with different biomes and made the game actually interesting this could have been one of the better Halo games. The gameplay felt the best out of any game in the series but the story was the worst one IMO because they barely had one. They had a lot of creative leads leave well before the game was finished so that likely had something to do with it but I think some of them were the same people who were the creative leads on the two previous 343 games which also had bad stories. It does still sound like a total mess. What I don't get is that people seemed to actually like the base gameplay. Normally Halo launches with MP and it sends people into an angry frenzy, but people seemed to actually like this for the most part.
I mean, it isn't like they completely missed the mark on the game. I know not everyone was big on the open world stuff (it was kind of watered down but fun) but we aren't looking at Anthem levels of bad gameplay by any means.
If they could build content people would play it.
I tend to agree with this. The campaign (which I admittedly haven't finished) lacks diversity, and feels like strung-together checkpoints, in a way that feels somehow less story driven than even the original CE did.If they had actually made a real story and built out a campaign that took place in different parts of the ring with different biomes and made the game actually interesting this could have been one of the better Halo games. The campaign really did seem like it was just strung together, they must have had much bigger ideas and just ran out of time or couldn't figure out how to do them. They definitely need a different team running this franchise, I feel for anyone losing a job especially when it's likely due to decisions made by people that make a lot more money than they do.I tend to agree with this. The game in general (which I don't dislike), feels like an example of "too many cooks in the kitchen", rather than a small, talented, dedicated team, delivering a single vision. Hard to believe that people are so concerned about layoffs, when the campaign team needs an entire restructure, IMO, and it needs it yesterday! They need to regroup and refocus a leaner, and better team, IMO. That's the only way to move forward, whether that's a whole new game, or a series of new missions.
To me he needs to go because he's been in positions of power at xbox for a long time and they've never gotten their act together when it comes to releasing games on a regular basis let alone coming up with IP that brings in more customers.Isn't Mr. Spencer in charge of all of these studios that MS owns? If so, why is he not gone yet? How many years does someone get to turn everything around and not get it done? All of these people shouldn't be losing their jobs because a handful of others can't do theirs.
He is in charge of the big picture. Since he has been at Xbox they have increased first party studios five fold, introduced GamePass, and gained market share. 343 screwed up but Phil is the direction of Xbox, not just individual games. He was the one who sold Nadella on staying with Xbox rather than ditching it.Isn't Mr. Spencer in charge of all of these studios that MS owns? If so, why is he not gone yet? Exactly. All the sudden people have forgotten how business management works. Ultimately, he’s over all of it, but it’s not a dictatorship, he’s relying on his team’s information and what they need. I see people talking about them hiring too many people irresponsibly and now firing them. The people on those teams and the leads were most likely the ones communicating they needed additional staff, so they were added at those times. In addition, I’m sure similar things happen in this business as others when the big boss shows up: inflating performance and overselling progress to look good for the boss. The point is none of this happens in a vacuum. He is in charge of the big picture. I didn’t think anyone caught that. Kudos to you my friend!Too late. You already pulled a TDBanks.
Gamers: Xbox execs need to give these studios freedom.Isn't Mr. Spencer in charge of all of these studios that MS owns? If so, why is he not gone yet? Phil Spencer: Our studios have total freedom.
Gamers: Why isn't Phil getting involved. It is his fault.
lol.
Make up your minds, please.
Now they are getting involved and all people can say is that is crappy, or I don't see why this is needed. You can't ask for change and then cry when that happens.
