They got a year of extra dev time and still couldn't get RT in? they said it wouldn't come at launch when it was scheduled to come out in 2020, I guess everything got pushed back a year + along with the release date. They also have only confirmed that it's coming to the PC version, IGN asked about xbox and haven't heard back yet.

Wonder why first party Xbox games have trouble implementing RT at launch even with supposed better RT hardware support allegedly. Correct me if I'm wrong but there still isn't a first party XGS game that supports RT in gameplay? IMO, I believe it's the number of platforms they need to release and optimize for. XSS, X1, X1 S, XSX, PC, X1X, that's already 6.

That's exactly the issue.

I'm sure that is an issue but there are 3rd party games that released on more platforms that have RT, Watch Dogs Legion was on all of those consoles and PC plus sony machines and stadia. It's not like this is a next gen only game and can't be done on old machines it's being scaled, I'm guessing it has more to do with the engine they are using as well as their performance targets.

Imma guess because they have been more focused on 60- 120 fps. They should at least have an RT mode, imo.

My guess, cos crossgen support. And the ones who are struggling are those working with new engines.

The only announced title that will support it, I’m assuming, is forza Motorsport. But I think ninja theory said they’ll implement it into their next titles

To be fair most of the ray tracing games on PS5 are from insomniac aren't they? They're a special exception.

So crossgen does hold back next gen features ? 🤔

Nope.

It is the engines.

Forza Horizon 5 has it for ForzaVista. Oddly enough Playground Games also implemented their own ray tracing like feature in engine for the gameplay.

Looking back to November, it seems like the only AAA game that MS released that is all new for Xbox is Flight Simulator. The rest of the games that were released were indie sized games already well into development including Psychonauts 2. Hard to have RT in games when you really haven’t released any 🤷‍♂️

FH5 has some. FM8 is offering Raytracing and Halo Infinite is getting it post launch.

3rd parties are offering RT on Series X though.

For me I want solid quality and performance as well as great gameplay first and foremost. RT once they figure that out.

People don't seem to realise that next gen hasn't really started on XBOX yet, and it won't until 2022-2023.

I want that graphics card lol

*edit to add notes below

- Three ranked hoppers (playlists): Ranked Keyboard & Mouse, Ranked Controller, and Ranked Crossplay.

- Tons of customization; set visual fidelity, pick or or lock FPS, move hud around

- There will be an anti cheat thing for pc

- Razer Halo Infinite keyboard with custom animations for LEDs when triggered by key moments in game. Said feature will be available for other Razer keyboards

- Custom graphics cards that could only be won, follow their socials to find out when and how.

- And other stuff I’m too lazy to add :p

True. Let's see when/if they implement RT into gameplay post-launch for FH5 and Halo Infinite.

I guess for a game like Flight Sim, you can't really see any RT unless it's off the plane but at 1440p/30, maybe worth implementing a RT mode? 🤔

I doubt FH5 would get any raytracing outside of audio during gameplay since Playground Games already implemented their own.

Would people be ok if campaign was locked at 30fps but at 4k with raytracing on series x? And I guess 30 locked across all Xbox’s? Granted at 60 or 120 in multiplayer

Personally I don’t need Ray tracing in the multiplayer. It would be great to have a ray tracing option in campaign maybe with 30 frames per second if they need to meet their performance targets.
People think RT needs to be in everything, but are you really going to notice it in a fast paced shooter or racing game? I doubt it. RT works best for atmospheric campaigns like Metro Exodus or the upcoming Hellblade 2.

Xbox corporate is pumped.
