I don't get why companies still do this. They think they can click their heels together 3 times and shout, "live service" and start printing money. They dedicate no resources towards actually making content. I play an hour and get some visor that's tinted slightly different from the one I have.

The sad part is, the game is fun. This is the most fun I've had in MP Halo since probably 3, and maybe even 2.
The general gameplay is solid. Content just kills it quickly.

It is pretty sad that one of the scummiest companies has the best live service model and one of the best Battle passes. If you are going to do a live service game then COD has the only blue print to follow.

Man how times have changed. I remember when games shipped content complete and we just played what was fun because it was fun. Now days gamers demand a steady stream of content and games ship incomplete with a promise of future content that either doesn’t see the light of day or gamers don’t feel is good enough and complain about until the community dies off from it’s festering negativity. What a vicious cycle.

The game dies off because it lacks content, or is in poor shape for too long, not because of negativity.

Just take this game for example. Its been what 4 months and the BP is still terrible. The progression system is still bad. It still lacks content. It still has a cheater problem. As far as I'm aware cross play is still forced, and Ranked still has no Slayer only option. The Events are still poor. Tgis is all after a 12 month delay too.

4 months they fixed virtually nothing. Still got like 2 months of no new content, and even the early info about season 2 isn't sounding good. Have they even added something as simple and basic as a stat page yet?

That is why this game is dying.

I was talking about the general discussion being had about “live service” games, but it really extends beyond that.

I know what has happened and is happening with Halo. I don’t need you to tell me anything about it.

Regardless, the point still stands. Gamer mentality and demand has contributed to the model, games are shipped incomplete with the promise of more content, that content either doesn’t come or gamers aren’t satisfied, and the community complains, bickers, and attack each other over the game’s state. Mindshare turns negative and diminishes engagement. I’ve seen the cycle over and over again. These days, games that continue to engage long-term with positive mindshare and good ongoing support are the exception to the cycle.

Halo 3 shipped with 24 maps though, Infinite with 10. I actually like this game, but I feel like I'm playing the same 3 MP maps over and over on 4v4. I know there's more than 3, but I'm already sick of the maps. That's not even mentioning no forge, no co-op.

We want more because games are launching with significantly less content. If Infinite launched with the content that came with older games, we wouldn't be having this discussion. We're getting much less, not asking for even more.

I rarely run into cheaters because they did what they want and now most of them are gone, 343 will have something ready for season 2 (which is a do or die moment for me).

The problem is the system price model that is hurting the gamers.
If you are going to have a microtransaction, the game should be free.
But if you have a paid title, a season pass is fine or an expansion, but never also include microtransactions in that same package.

Halo 3 launched with 11 maps, which was down from 12 in H2 and 13 in CE. But, this is exactly what I’m saying.

Hopefully they do have something for S2, but that will be 6 months after release. That is way too long to be addressing this issue.

That's surprising. It feels like there are no maps in this game. I seem to play the same 3 over and over. Did H3 have DLC or added content?

So, in essence, the games die because they are in poor shape and/ or lack content.

You can't say gamer mentality and demand has contributed to tye model either. Gamers hate the model.

Yes H3 had several DLC packs, Heroic, Legendary, and two Mythic map packs. Each came with three maps.

Clueless as usual. All of this isn’t happening in a vacuum.

I’ve already uninstalled. While the gameplay is great, it got boring quick playing the same couple maps over and over and the BP stinks. They F’ed this game up big time. I might come back for S2 if they add some good content.

I had 56 hours in my first campaign play through and side missions. Uninstalled until we get more campaign DLC.

Ignorant as usual.
Ironic coming from you. You have no clue what you are talking about as usual. Even empirically speaking your statement that gamers hate the model is both false and ignorant. Gamers hate when the model doesn’t deliver compelling content, not the model itself. There’s plenty of games that built community excitement around battle passes and seasons, and gamers generally cite regular, quality content as motivation to play a given game. Hell, you have done just that during the course of this thread and others. You just talk out of your ass and consistently display your ignorance and irrelevancy.

Coming from you that is a compliment.

Don't you have a corporate a'hole to lick.

Still haven't played much of the Campaign because I am waiting for Online CO-OP.
This game was delayed for a year, & still no co-op after like 5 months. Imagine if they decide to released without the one year extension.

Halo is not a game in a vacuum. People expect content because that is the EXPECTATION of a live service game. Don't make your game a LIVE service than people will not have LIVE service games expectation.

Why should gamers NOT expect game to be "finished" & have regular content updates when the competitions are able to do it? When you are making a LIVE sevice/MP game, you are literally asking gamers to choose your game over others, unlike single player where you can play one & move to another.

If other Live service games (Fortnite,m apex, COD etc) have more contents & more fun, fresh, more value etc, people would gravitate towards them. This is free market competition, you are battling for consumer time/money, then you have to match the competitions.

I'm happy with the game, in that I was able to play the campaign, enjoy it, and then be done with the game for a while. If they do additional campaign DLC, sure, I'll jump back in.

If I played multiplayer, I'd be saltier than Don Rickles' left nut.

For the fact you know how much salt on Don left nut is disturbing.

I said it is not happening in a vacuum. Your post continues to prove my point, so thanks?

It’s not a compliment coming from anyone, but you’re pretty obtuse, so whatever.

Your last statement just shows how little you understand. Sure, recognizing the gaming ecosystem made up of gamers, devs, and publishers has changed and everyone has played a role in it is somehow akin to shilling for corporate interests. Lamenting how poor execution of this model and the subsequent community response is a vicious cycle is also somehow akin to corporate arse licking. What an intelligent little creature you are, lol. Your assertions are ill-informed and asinine.
