I hope this Halo pulls me back to the series. Halo 3 was the last Halo SP I completed and put a good amount of time into the MP. For some reason I lost interest in the series after that. Played a little Halo 5 MP. It’s decent fun but would not keep me coming back.

I would go a step further and say that the games that were great back then wouldn't be great now. All these games have been re-released and remastered, and while people play the MP, they don't stick.

I was watching Youtubers play Halo 3 (the one I happened to play the most) and the nostalgia was great. Did I actually fire up Halo 3 to play though? Nope. The 10 minutes watching someone else play was all I needed. That's when it hit me.

I think I want a Halo MP game, but I really don't. I played 5, but not a bunch. It was a solid game. Other games are better. I will tell you how much I hate COD and Warzone and how the skill based matchmaking is garbage, but I played the heck out of it all weekend anyway.

Gamers are chasing nostalgia, and we're never going to find it on the MP side. If they innovate, they break the formula. If they don't innovate, nobody will like it because it isn't really what they want.

I hope I'm wrong, because I want to like Halo MP, but I don't think I really know what I want.
I know what I want from Halo MP, but I’m never going to get it, so...

Klobrille said the leak was fake and he said this on resetera

Halo Infinite Arena is all about going back to classic map control gameplay (power weapons and power-ups). There are a lot of cool map power-ups to complement the sandbox. Grapple hook, thrust or classics like overshield. All this is very dynamic and might vary heavily based on playlist etc., of course. But more on all that at a later date.

And apparently he said sprint was in but dependent on the playlist.

Whatever Halo launches at, aside from the campaign, that's not going to be the end. They can and will iterate on it for a long, long time. They can see today that the player base is split between MCC and Halo 5. I don't see any other solution outside of supporting both groups. With the potential size of the user base, not worried about the base splitting. Just like Warzone split off a lot of COD players and the 6v6 modes are still healthy. I think Halo is going to be a substantial buffet.

I think 343 has the potential to make a great Halo game, imo you can see the potential in their first couple games, there are some cool parts. But damn it's hard to capture that epic nostalgia of the first couple Halo games

343 is such a different team today from when they made Halo 5. Outside of Bonnie Ross, who doesn't have any say on the creative stuff, all their creative leads are different. More established. Also built a new, more versatile game engine. Got more time. Spent way more money. Currently the number of devs on Infinite may be more than double the number of devs for Halo 5 when you factor outsourcing. They had a good multiplayer foundation to work off of but I'd say almost all mistakes of the past have little to do with the team in place.

The attention to detail in that is pretty awesome. But it's just a cover box.
