This ties into my point. This game isn't comparable to Bungie's Halo's just because it's checking the same boxes. This Forge isn't Bungie's Forge. This campaign isn't as streamlined as Bungie's campaign. This multiplayer will have to deliver more than Bungie's multiplayer. This coop isn't as straight-forward as Bungie's coop. The engine needs to be more malleable to support additions for a decade.

I shouldn't need to repeat every time but I've said there have been leadership issues. There has been development hell. Comparisons to Bungie Halo's or other AAA games still don't fly here. They've rebuilt a platform...not just a game.
Are there any comparable coop games in similar structure to compare it too?

I would find it weird if it would play like the other games, walk maybe 30 feet (about 9 meters) and get warped back besides first player

Comparisons are completely valid.

Bungie has handled the series better and had less help/resources.

That's the bad news.

The good news is Infinite isn't finished and the current build of the MP plays good.
So we have hope.

And the boxes have to be checked because Bungie did it and did it well. Nobody will care about the amount of content if it isn't good just like people forgive anything delayed if it is. The comparison to Bungie will always fly because that is bar whether they change something or not.

If they don't deliver we will just move the goalposts and repeat Microsoft PR about it being a platform.
Moving goalposts? This is the issue with most discussions in this entire forum. They revolve around console wars. Most things are taken in that lense. There are no goal posts. Nobody is winning with this delay. There are many factors to consider and if people want to have strong opinions, why not consider all of them? Who gives a s*** about goal posts.

I'm not here to hold anyone accountable or place blame because that's obvious. The person accountable is Phil Spencer. He'll likely go on record and admit that like he did last year.

Talking about Bungie's Halo's goes exactly to my point. It's not apples to apples. They aren't the same overall packages. Much of the development time and struggle was related to the game engine. It needed to support a bigger vision than previous Halos. Not just for launch, but for the future of where the franchise will continue to go. This was intended as a 15 year project. A platform. Not just a game. They were behind schedule before covid but covid made the situation much worse.

No I don't think so. Either way, it's significantly different than previous Halo's. They've said the old system doesn't work.

They keep playing the MCC and going based on that.
Well that was the old Bungie and the old fashion style can't even hold the game for a while.
This new platform is suppose to go beyond the normal cycle of the games from the past.

HALO NEEDS TO EVOLVE no matter what, otherwise it will feel dated and soon forgotten.

They need to stop comparing to Bungie. Bungie’s Halo was a completely different game before MS came on board. Then they left MS to make the s*** Destiny, with a weak story, stupid lack of raid matchmaking, and regressed multiplayer.

Well no offense but you talk about Microsoft like you are in their board room half the time so its hard to pretend to be above console wars

Bungie being bad now has nothing to do with anything

I'm biased towards liking the Xbox platform in that it's been my primary platform for 20 years and I write about it. I can like something and still consider all the factors in a situation. I don't care much about it "beating" PlayStation. It doesn't need my defense. I am passionate about Halo and felt like there was context missing from the discussion. Not every statement has to be categorized as either trolling or damage controlling.

Is SlipSpace an iteration of said ancient tech or a totally new creature? To me, it’s come across as the latter.
There's a blurred lines with all these game engines. They continue to evolve to the point they aren't recognizable from where they start. I don't know much about Blam but talking to people who have developed on UE, I was told that they are doing things that would've been impossible for them to attempt a few years ago.

Right now, details are sparse about Slipspace. It's base isn't really a determining factor in it's capabilities today.

I really don't remember them saying that the coop and forge with be at launch. I do remember them saying Halo campaign and multiplayer will be.

I could be wrong.

Honestly somewhat surprised by the people so upset at co-op being delayed. Personally, I’ve never had a positive experience with co-op play at launch for any game. Somebody is always doing something distracting like talking over dialogue, or they want to take incredibly long pauses and slow the pace to a crawl, or some ass skips a scene or keeps pressuring others to do so. In addition, I hate co-op achievements. Understandably, not having a feature is a bummer, but I didn’t expect that people would be so upset over it.
Same. I hate co-op on the Initial playthrough. I always do it on subsequent ones. Last thing I want are distractions or someone doing goofy s*** while I'm Checking out the scenery or something. All about the immersion and discovery first time through...

The thing is people are understanding is not like is coming. It will be added. Look at Doom adding horde mode now. I wanted that to be there from day one but it is here AT NO EXTRA COST.

Well you are overly biased and you have a hard time being critical.

I wonder if the issue with coop is checkpoints and the fact that it’s open world-ish?

But ditto, only my brothers were into coop, but only after going through the campaigning themselves on heroic, then beat it on legendary together out with friends

I have a hard time with hot takes...period. There's nothing to gain from them. Flying off the handle emotionally and ignoring facts to prove lack of bias does the opposite.

I've also learned whether it's politics or videogames, when people aren't able to have a logical discussion, they turn to attacking the motives of the person who's narrative they're competing with. When you do that, you've proven you have nothing else worthwhile to add to the discussion.

Well if this tweet is true, then the content was done last year October already. This whole year was supposed to be figuring out the technical aspects but I guess they still need more time for that.

Except motives matter and you are the one who started talking about console wars and used it as a way to deflect from what I was saying about Halo.

But deciding a certain platform is your team and you have to defend it and maybe shill it makes it just as hard to have a actual discussion just as it does in the console war thread where everyone is trolling and counter trolling. Everyone has their preferences and biases but that doesn't mean we have to take a side in mega corporations.

Even though Klobrille is very credible he was probably just making that assumption. I think everyone assumed the game was just about done given the timing of its delay.

Added context and perspective to the situation. Knew that people in here would take it as a system wars challenge. You proved me correct.

Maybe you should consider how you post and why it looks that way instead of being defensive and deflecting? You do talk about Microsoft like you are on Phil Spencers PR team.

Someone can say I am only overly negative towards Halo and they wouldn't trust me to ever be positive about it and I wouldn't be offended by it because its probably something I would think if someone else was making my posts. We should at least be a little honest with ourselves here.

Why don't you talk about the substance of what I said instead of worrying about my motives? You still haven't added anything to the discussion over many posts. Just here to serve up L's and call out fanboys. Doesn't that ever get boring? Don't you ever start to feel too old to keep playing that sport?

Would shilling for Microsoft make me feel younger
