Yup, I definitely liked team Osiris. Hate that we probably wont be seeing them again. Locke was a beast! He damn near whooped the Chief's ass in H5. Maybe they'll have their own story one day. The Halo universe is vast enough to carry many more stories involving other characters.
Yeah, in the most disappointing fight scene known to man. That fight should have been epic, but it was lame with one good moment (where the Cheif turns after getting his visor cracked). Other than that, even I could slip those galactically telegraphed punches. s*** was weak.

I liked it. It didnt last long enough but I thought it was pretty damned good!

Soooo.... how long have you fantasized about being in fisticuffs with Master Chief?

Not the Cheif, but I train MMA (kick-boxing, Jujitsu, Krav Maga, and Kajukempo) every Tuesday and Thursday.

I am also an Army combat veteran, and from any standard, that was lame. The Cheif is a highly trained, augmented super-soldier (as is Locke). That fight looked like amatures throwing lazy, slow haymakers.

Do you wear a 700lbs armor when you play mma?

I can’t recall exactly the fine details, when I read fall of reach the Chief was kinda a badass unintentionally during the boxing match where he killed an ODST

I see. Well, I train too. Put me on a treadmill and I'm Bruce Lee. So, there...

Also, thanks for your service!

But I have to disagree about the MC fight with Locke. I thought it was well choreographed - especially for a video game. It ended up being a tie if I remember it correctly. Perhaps the reason the fight looked off was because of the mo-cap session that was employed. Games still havent reached the heights of true CGi when it comes to full stop CG animation in my opinion. What we have is serviceable thusfar. Perhaps next gen animation will go up a few notches. Animation is supposed to see a huge boon with the new CPU's next gen so, we'll see...

That argument doesn't work at all because Cheif's armor makes him faster and stonger. That scene looked more like a bar fight than two super-soldiers.

It's not a tech or game problem. God of War 4 has multiple, super epic, interactive fight scenes. There is no excuse. That scene was a massive anti-climactic let-down.

This is correct so I would never want to fight the Chief.

Exactly, and they had the budget to give us something high-level and impressive. Especially with the armor in play... how they gave us that after showing the Spartans in all their glory in the opening cutscene is beyond me.

I don't want kung fu, but a brutal, militaristic exchange of the most deadly warriors in the galaxy with future technology would have been nice. It was all "that's it?", with zero "holy s***".

Hopefully next time there’s a dust up between Chief and another protagonist, 343 will hire a professional fight choreographer.

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one. These are possibly the two deadliest men in the universe, and their fight looked more like something you would see on an armature YouTube video.

Tech shouldn't have been an issue. Even Snake Eater had better flights in their cutscenes, and that was on the PS2.

I guess they fought holding/hiding their true power....would love to see them go all out, like in other cut scenes, maybe put the ground pound to good use

I just watched the fight and my impressions were somewhere in the middle of you two.

It wasn't a particularly well choreographed fight (MGSV Quiets scene holds the crown) but it's not exactly a barroom brawl either. Just kinda OK IMO.

Forget the Chief, the real fight would have been with Kelly. After her augmentation, she was so fast that she had to slow her speed (I believe by a third) just so others could spar with her.

The Locke-MC fight was one the biggest letdowns for me in halo franchise history. It went against everything I read about Spartans and ended up looking like a couple of inexperienced, older guys practicing dead patterns in gym.

Yeah, the fight looked whack. They were also sent to retrieve Chief and the rest of team Osiris just sat back eating popcorn during the fight. Wether they agreed with their mission or not..it was just wrong and weird.

Just Incase anyone missed it or interested in seeing a the thought process that went into another trailer, I found it rather insightful and neat.

And if next week’s stream has a certain dev there they may show some new things, but it seems up in the air at the moment

I don't like the "tell your own story" method. All that means is "loose, indistinct story with no weight, and no meaning". I hate that. Tell a f***ing story. You can make up your own s*** in MP ffs.

Give. Me. Characters and story. This whole "people make better stories" is garbage and makes for zero connections. I really hope this dude is misrepresenting the game. People are excited about the Cheif because he IS a character, not an avatar.

Also, if they wanted hope to be the message, they failed. You need context. The Halo 3 trailers conveyed hope. That wasn't what came through on this trailer at all.

I really am not liking this guy... seems like a pretentious dick...

Mystery and nostalgia, sure. Hope... no. So weird. You have to have that despair to give hope dimension.

Hard disagree here. I mean the guy had clips of people reacting almost exactly as the desired effect of what they were going for. That's not easy.

Another thing that isnt easy is putting the player/viewer in a position to create their own story (characters, world building, plot, sub plots etc..) for themselves. Shot selection/movement, angles, lighting, music are all carefully chosen in order to do this - not to mention an ass load of planning involved. Of course he isnt saying they arent going to tell a story within the Halo universe, but they want to give players the opportunity to emotionally invest into the story themselves. The BEST way to do that is to create moving images that strike out a lot of detail/visual information in strategically placed and structured moving images that give them the opportunity. To do what youre suggesting would've been for them to add in a V.O. to go along with the visuals, which I think would've been a bit too much. JMHO

Halo Infinite' Developer Has No Interest In A Battle Royale Mode

While it might sound dreamy to some, it looks like Halo Infinite will not come packing a battle-royale mode, or the very least, 343 Industries doesn't have it on its mind at the moment.

Speaking during a recent 343 Industries-hosted Mixer stream, leads Jeff Easterling and James Bachici were at one point asked about a battle-royale mode in the upcoming Halo game, a quesiton they've likely been getting pounded by since the game was announced earlier this year.

To this, Easterling replied: "I'll tell you right now, the only BR we're really interested in is Battle Rifle." For those that don't know: Battle Rifle is one of the more iconic weapons in the series.

As you may know, this isn't the first time 343 Industries has played down a battle-royale mode in Halo Infinite. Earlier this year, the aforementioned Easterling essentially confirmed no such mode would be added into the game, nor any other trends other parts of the industry might currently be chasing.

However, game development is constantly changing, and with the surging popularity in battle-royale modes, it wouldn't be very surprising if Halo Infinite dabbled in it, or something similar. But from the sound of it, it still isn't planning on it.

While I personally appreciate a good battle-royale mode, I'm far from a fan of injecting it into every game just for the heck of it. That said, if there is one IP I'd love to see tackle the mode, it's Halo. But from the sounds of it, I shouldn't cross my fingers too hard.

Halo Infinite is in development for Xbox One and PC, and is currently without a release date or a release window. It's possible the game will come next year, but it appears to be 2020-bound or beyond, which may just mean it's a cross-gen release.

Microsoft has been very quiet on the project so far, and thus details are pretty scarce. We should be hearing more about it soon though, probably during E3 2019.

The service number on the AI chip the chief inserts into his helmet reads 0453-0. Cortana's number is 0452-9

Hmmm.... Cortana did mention in Halo 4 that they might give the Chief a new Cortana model.

Bonnie Ross: We Have Made Mistakes Along the Way; I’m So Proud of 343i’s Work on Halo Infinite

Bonnie Ross, Microsoft Corporate Vice President and Head of 343 Industries, will be the 23rd Hall of Fame recipient as announced yesterday by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. The prize will be awarded at the D.I.C.E. Awards ceremony on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019, at the Aria Convention Center in Las Vegas, and Microsoft Executive VP of Gaming Phil Spencer will deliver it.

In an interview posted yesterday on GamesBeat, Bonnie Ross admitted having committed some mistakes along the way with Halo since they took over working on the series from Bungie. At the same time, she reiterated the team’s determination to ‘do right’ by the IP with the next installments.
Honestly, we have made mistakes along the way. The community has helped us in creating good learning experiences for us. But I think that when I look at Halo, the universe is the most important character and we are stewards of the universe. And if we’re going to keep the universe alive and healthy, I think that we have to ensure that we are doing right by Halo.

I do look at it as a very humbling experience. The whole team looks at this as not just our universe. It’s the fans’universe. How are we doing right by the fans? How are we doing right by the franchise? It is a part of our culture, this precious, precious world, and we’re responsible for taking care of it. And we want to do it right.
Bonnie Ross then went on record to say that she is so proud of the work that’s being done at 343 Industries on Halo Infinite.
I would say that taking over the Halo franchise was taking over an established business but creating a startup company to do that. The thing that I’m most proud of is building an amazing team. I am biased. But I would say that the 343 team has the most talented creators in the in the industry. And I would say, that’s the thing I’m most proud of. The work that they have done, the work we’re doing on Halo Infinite is something that I am so proud.
After the brief teaser at E3 2018, Halo Infinite is expected to be unveiled at some point in 2019, with the E3 stage being a very likely candidate once again. However, with Gears 5 already named by Microsoft’s Phil Spencer as the big first-party title due next year, Halo Infinite could be due for a 2020 release instead. Stay tuned on Wccftech for more updates on the next chapter of the Halo saga.

The more I hear about it, the more I think karmakid is probably right...a 2020 launch title across anything that plays Xbox games, which at that point will be quite a few more things than we have now.

  • Spartan customization will be Reach inspired. They said they know a lot of people liked that level of customization and will pleased with what Infinite has.
  • Infinite will have 4 player splitscreen
  • The Slipspace engine was developed with PC in mind when it comes to different hardware combinations.
  • Black undersuits for spartans are confirmed (all parts that aren't metal). The art department is aware the demand for it.
  • Halo 5 players who reach Spartan Rank 152(max rank) will receive an award in Halo Infinite.
  • 4 Player Split screen confirmed. No details if it's limited to SP or MP only.
  • An other reason for a new engine was that they hit a content limit with Halo 5.
  • 343i will have an internal tournament on an Infinite build at the start of the year.
  • They are in the process of rebuilding their Pro Team and Competetive Halo will play a role in the future.

I mean think about it they are on the verge of announcing new consoles, I'm sure they want a strong first-party title to show off the power of the new systems; what better way to do that then to have your biggest IP shown off in a brand new engine on MS newest hardware. I'm almost certain this is the route they are going
