Halo 5

Speaking during the Halo Championship Series (HCS) Invitational, 343 Industries members provided insight into ongoing work on the project. According to Halo Community Director, Brian Jarrard, cross-play remains a topic the team "wants" to make happen; but is focusing on releasing its PC versions "the right way." It indicates that while open to the concept, cross-play isn't in development for launch day.

I think one of the questions we've gotten is will MCC PC support Xbox Play Anywhere. And first off I wanted to say, we so appreciate all the support we've had from Xbox One community with MCC, and we're obviously bringing Reach to MCC. And while MCC shipped before the XPA Play Anywhere [program], we are exploring ways to make sure we show our appreciation and recognition for the support we've had from the amazing fans on MCC. And we'll have more to announce once we get closer to launch.

The Halo Insider Program will allow people to play early builds of each Halo game on PC, helping ensure each game in the MCC will release stable. Members of the program will be asked to report on any bugs or glitches they encounter, as well as offer forms of feedback such as suggesting new types of features or changes to the game's interface.

-Mix and Match Armor, linked to new progression system, no MTX (Reach seems to be the only one that supports mix match armor right now)
-Uncapped FPS for each game is the plan
-Game release date is dependent on how well the flights go
-No 24/7 custom dedicated servers for the custom browser, this is an area of discussion though!
-No Mod support at launch, working with the modding community, i01 team and the ED team to explore "official" modding options
-Anti-cheat is a big focus for launch
-Until all games are out it will be a buy one by one situation (no season pass model either)
-Will support Windows 7 and 10, Windows 8 support is being looked at (Wonder if this means it can run on Photon?)
-No ETA on the first flight, currently building the first audience for the flight and dev team is working on the UI/controls
-Forge and Theater will NOT be out at launch, are both getting extra work for PC (should be around Halo 3/H4 release / potential rework of Forge?)
-ODST Firefight is still being evaluated
-More anti-cheat news will be talked about later
-FoV and FPS limits will be a title by title basis
-MCC progression will carry over from console version, no 360 progress will
-MCC saves will NOT carry over between console and PC
-Achievements, Forged Maps, Game Variants and stats will be sync’d
-343 is currently testing 144hz+ frame rates, ordered 240hz monitor to test with.
-Wants to support a wide variety of hardware, spec details coming soon. Min specs to be determined via flighting
-Steam/WinStore users can play together
-Xbox crossplay is top of mind and actively being investigated right now
-They are looking at what can be supported in regards to splitscreen/local co-op for PC users
-They are looking into getting mix and match armor sets in for Halo 3
-No info on pricing yet, focus is on getting the flight out as soon as possible
-Centered Crosshairs are being investigated
-They will talk about how terminal videos will work later
-Still exploring options regarding play anywhere and letting Xbox owners who have a copy also enjoy it on PC
-Aspect ratios that are supported are 21:9, 16:9, 16:10, 3:2 and 4:3
-Reach will use the same dedicated servers for Match Making as the rest of MCC
-No current plans to bring Halo 5 over
-They want to get this package out to PC gamers asap but only once it's ready
-No info on playlist, will be looking at community feedback on settings for things like bloom and Armor Lock (Vanilla, TU, CEA)
-Halo Custom Edition Content is on their list and is being actively explored (they had map importing working to some extent last year)

"-Centered Crosshairs are being investigated"

They better give us this as an option for the xbox version. It drives me bonkers having that crosshair set so low. I know that it doesnt bother most people, but when you are always aiming for headshots, I feel like I am looking up towards the sky more then I should be.

Plainview Sooo... Can we move the PC stuff to the PC forum? It would be nice to not get excited about news only to get info on the PC release...

The creativity and perseverance of the game’s characters is a good match for the spirit which inspired the founders of Limbitless Solutions. The non-profit group creates prosthetics arms and provides them to children at no cost. The founders are passionate about empowering confidence in the lives of children living with limb difference by tapping into accessibility technology and demonstrating that their futures have no limits.

For the Limbitless Solutions' Bionic Kids, the themed sleeves are interchangeable and allow children to display a wider range of expressions. The customizable armor allows the children to bring their own flair, while still showing off the honor and strength of the Arbiter.

“Working with the team at 343 has been amazing. The history and adventure contained within their universe is fascinating,” said Dominique Courbin, the director of production for Limbitless Solutions and one of its co-founders.“To me, the Arbiter represents an inspiring and complex character that our kids will be able to relate to and say, ‘I, too, will take the road less traveled.”

From May 16-20, Megacon Orlando attendees can stop by the booths between the North and South halls at the Orange County Convention Center to see the Arbiter sleeve and talk to representatives from Limbitless Solutions about its own origin story and why inclusivity is important in gaming.

"Here at 343 Industries we create a lot of cool stuff in the service of the game's universe and fiction - and we try to do as much as we can to try and give back to a community that has consistently awed us with displays of strength, courage and fortitude,” 343 Industries’ Franchise Creative Director Frank O’Connor said.“But it's rare that we ever have the chance to work on something so intrinsically core to our game's message of heroism, tenacity and adventure in ways that can directly and literally lend a helping hand to our fans. The folks at Limbitless have done incredible things already, and we're proud to be just a small part of their story - and the stories of the people they've reached with their invention, effort and heart."

Looking forward to this. Never did get around to playing Halo 4 or 5 and a friend of mine hasn't played any, so it will be fun to go through them all co-op.

Don't think 5 is included in the collection.

We both have Xboxes so if it comes down to it we can still play 5, but would prefer PC. Probably will take a while for us to go through all of them so maybe by then it will be on PC.

Forge and Theater for Halo: Reach will be available for Xbox One at launch but will come later for PC, 343 has confirmed.

Explaining the decision in a post on Halo Waypoint, Michael Fahrny, lead producer on Master Chief Collection PC, said making Forge a "true PC first experience" would be a lot of work.

"When you look specifically at Forge and what it truly is, it is a 3D editing tool that was built completely for console," Fahrny said.

"In some cases, it's built to have mouse and keyboard support, and in some it's not - and that's one of our biggest challenges right now with the feature.

"We're investigating what the best solution is for both Forge and Theater on PC. We know that to create a true PC first experience for both where it's full mouse and keyboard support is an undetermined amount of work at this point. And we haven't done a deep enough dive to determine how much work it truly is due to the priority of getting the main game up and ready.

V1 is keeping its project behind closed doors for the time being, but Lehto gave us one broad design stroke to stoke our imaginations. “The most I can say right now is it's a sci-fi first-person shooter very unlike any shooter that you've probably seen,” he says. “It's kind of in our DNA, it's the kind of thing our studio is really dang good at making, so we are excited to everyday be pushing this game forward from the story perspective to the multiplayer side of things and all the other big parts.”

...

Each is a smaller-scale project with smaller teams that maintain the production values gamers expect in a triple-A title, but deliver an experience tighter in scope and scale (think Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice). All are bringing new concepts they are passionate about to life in the hopes of finding the footing that can prove so elusive in this industry.

Modder “The Vengeful ‘Vadam” has announced that the Halo Reach: Evolved campaign overhaul mod will be coming to the PC. This mod will be available to our platform once Halo: The Master Chief Collection releases on the PC.

In case you weren’t aware of, Halo Reach: Evolved campaign overhaul mod brings in certain aspects from the original trilogy of Halo games. It also edit some of the enemy encounters and alters the weapon and vehicle sandbox. Its ultimate aim is to make the game feel like the first Halo games, something that the purists Halo fans will appreciate.

For instance, player movement speed is 10% faster and jump height is 25% higher and you can carry up to 4 of each type of grenade. Frag grenades only explode “when at rest” like they do in Halo: CE, and the crosshair has been centered. Furthermore, the mod removes the Film Grain effects from each mission.Human AI allies have double the health and also fire the rocket launcher at slightly further distance.

As such, and once Halo: Reach comes out on the PC, PC gamers will be able to play the campaign in two different ways; via the original mode and via this custom overhaul mod. Awesome, right?

The modder recently released a brand new version of it for Xbox One, and you can find a new trailer for it below
