Hi guys,

I would love a little help because I'm a little confused. I have my living room set up with an Xbox S with a 75 inch Sony 850E. My man cave has the Xbox X with a Hisense 55inch H8F. I am fully aware the Xbox X will perform better and the Hisense is a newer TV with a better picture but I was thrown off how different this was until this week. I was playing Gears 5 in my living room set up and some of the maps were so dark in some areas I could barely see, I tweaked some of the brightness and in game picture settings and still was not satisfied. Last night I played Gears 5 for the first time in my man cave set up and it was night and day, picture looked great, blacks looked good and bright but not to bright where it looked bad. I have done my homework on picture settings and have both TV's set up the way I like with all the auto picture things turned off, motion blur etc turned off.

What am I missing and why is this so night and day? Does the X and the newer TV make that much of a difference? Is there a setting I need to change? Also the main reason for this post is this morning right before work I changed the HDR setting on my Sony TV to HDR10 instead of Auto and the blacks instantly looked amazing and I was shocked how "gray" my screen looked when set to Auto. However the colors looked worse so I am undecided if I should leave it on HDR10 or have my HDR setting set to Auto? I was in a rush so this was just on the Xbox dashboard and I did not look at it in game yet.

Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Keep on HDR 10 and also look on the web for settings for the TV that people are using. Here's a link to RTings' settings.

Whoops! Copied wrong link.

I feel like with the HDR setting on Auto its never on because I haven't noticed this drastic difference before. I will have to see how it looks in game because again the blacks looked great but not the color on the dashboard but I didn't have time to boot up a game.

Should I have HDR10 set to ON with my other inputs like when I am watching TV with my Xfinity box? Because the same thing happened when I checked that. I also need to check my Hisense TV tonight because I did not check the HDR setting on that however that picture did look amazing so I might not touch it.

I updated the link above.

Outside of the Gears games, I hate HDR in games. I think most games look better with it turned off.

Try Contrast 70
Brightness 140
HDR 1400
Gears 5 via the H8F

I had to put the HDR back to auto and not leave it on, some stuff looked good however when watching movies and some other things it looked terrible. I will give those other settings a shot. Gears seems to be the only game giving me trouble, everything else looks fine.

You did you try the settings I posted for gears 5?
