I didnt use the kick often, what was really useful to me was getting use to that dodge delay so I could do it just at the right time...took me a while and also the power move when her belt flashes, like others said...One Boss gave me a real hard time but I kept it at normal and managed it after about 10 deaths ;).

I was listening to the Videogame Outsiders podcast of a few weeks ago yesterday and they made an interesting comment about MS grabbing Ninja Theory, saying that they grabbed this team to make a God Of War/Zero Dawn type of game for the XBox...I can see it happening, maybe not with Senua or the girl from Heavenly Sword but something in the same genre only on a much larger scale,it could be awesome,I loved all of the NT games, including Enslaved...with a huge budget they could make an incredible action/adventure/fantasy game.

Interesting. Although I must say if i wanted to play a God of War or Zero Dawn type game I would just play those two. I hooe they're developing something fresh/new.

You sure they weren't talking about Playground? Half a year ago, there were rumors that Playground was hiring people to work on a Horizon-type game. Later on, we found out that was Fable.

Also, Ninja Theory (from what I can tell, from their interviews and Phil's statements) are not going to be taking creative direction from MS. They are going to do their own thing, follow their muse.

Interesting sidenote -- early in development, Guerilla Games put Horizon Zero Dawn on the back burner for a while, because they heard someone else was working on a game that sounded similar to what they wanted to do (post-apocalyptic, robots). That game? Enslaved.

VR version is coming out for the PC platforms (not PSVR). Fak. I remember thinking, when I was playing it for the first time, "thank goodness this isn't in VR."

I wonder if it would've come to PSVR, had MS not bought them out. MS didn't seem interested in blocking pre-existing projects (e.g., We Happy Few going multiplat). Might be a tech limitation, as he references significant framerate challenges.

The game now has HDR on PS4. I heard the Xbox implementation of HDR was pretty poor, so I wouldn't expect anything great for the PS4 version.

HDR or DRM?

This threa should be moved to the multiplatform.

I made another mistake in my comment above -- it was actually Nier's HDR implementation on Xbox that was weak, not Hellblade's. I got the games confused. So the HDR here may be fine. I remember the day I posted, I was feeling very mentally foggy, because I'd slept very poorly the night before. Wasn't thinking very clearly.

Anyway, the HDR implementation on Hellblade for PS4 is just fine, for all I know.

No problem. I was probably 80% done with the game before I figured out I could kick those guys. Happy to save you some trouble. The game doesn't tell you about some of the moves. I think I read about the kick on a forum. Before that, I was always trying to roll away and hit them, but the game locks you into such close quarters, it's tough.

Keep at it. Once you get a feel for the combat, you won't have much trouble. I ended up having fun with it. The slow-mo effect when you time the parry right is pretty cool.

I'm going to need to play this game again (3rd time), now that I've got an X. How are you liking the visuals?
After a many month break from this game I started it up again 2 days ago. I need to finish it. I am almost done now, only 3 achievements left.

Game play and animations have been good. Though I get some stuttering when opening some doors before she goes in. The A button to evade is slow to respond. You have to think ahead. The story to me makes zero sense other than looking for her mother and Dillon and fighting with herself against good and evil in her mind.

Will post my final thoughts after I finish it up this week.

Cool. Sounds like maybe it hasn't engaged you or drawn you in all that much, if you took that long a break?

The story is pretty confusing, for sure. Looking back, especially on the ending (no spoilers), I'm still not sure what really happened or how to put it together. It's confusing, because everything is happening in her mind, not reality, and the characters are all internal. I think I admired the creativity/courage involved in making a videogame with this sort of character and story, rather than really resonating with the story itself, if that makes sense. I have no experience of psychosis, so it felt pretty alien to me.

The parts that I did resonate with involved her desperate emotional states (you don't see some of those often in games) and fighting your inner demons. I certainly have some "demons" that I do battle with. At times, I could feel myself identifying with her in her struggle against that darkness, that lonely courage she had. I liked that.

Last third of the game was amazing. And I have to say, I had a greater appreciation of the game after learning more about mental psychosis in the optional documentary in the game. Wow, I can't even imagine living life in the manner.

I look back and now that I know the battle system better, the game is right up there with one of my favorites. So happy to have played and finished this game.

I got this in the mail on Friday. I may get around to opening it around this time next year with the backlog I've created the last 2 months.

You will like it I bet.

I have to say the performance isn’t that great though. Too much slow down at some check points.

Why, because I'm insane as well?

That's mainly why I'm interested in it.. :really:

Um no. Because it’s enjoyable and a unique story for a game.

I was interested in this even before I found out she was a nutbag. It was too huge for me to download at the time and just found out 2 weeks ago this was getting a physical release.

Well, I finished this yesterday (I heart gamepass). I so wish I had known about this game earlier. It's one of my all-time favorites in terms of story, a touch behind Bioshock Infinite which still holds the crown but up there with KotoR and System Shock and Deus Ex, etc. I may have some bias because I dated someone with Disassociative Personality Disorder for close to a year so the whole concept is a lot more familiar than I would have otherwise imagined. I don't know about difficulty of gameplay because I stuck it on Auto difficulty and had not a lot of difficulty, although the bridge in the final gameplay area (where you get the last lore stone, before the final boss slog) got me probably four times and Fenrir maybe five or six.

I kind of have a soft spot for Norse Mythology, too, for some reason I've never understood. I actually hoped there would be a sequel to Too Human before realizing that Dyack is the Molyneux of dickishness. But this scratched that itch really well - I still need to go back and play again to get all the lore stones to finish off the stories (and apparently a bit of plot revealed as well), but this will probably be one of those that I play at least every other or third year going forward.

You like Norse mythology... have you played God of War 4? Totally worth it... you'll get all the 'Heims you can handle!!!

I started this last week and got the part where you have the two doors to choose from, so very close to the start I guess. I didnt enjoy it at all. It’s too serious for me. I find it a little uncomfortable to play. I probably won’t go back to it.

I want to play this soon and since it’s a shorter game I can get through in a few nights. I’ve heard to play it with headphones the sound is incredible.

Yeah the sound with headphones is absolutely stunning. It’s actually one of the pieces that makes it a little uncomfortable for me to play but as a design mechanic, I can really appreciate it.
