Hellraiser (Hulu)

I liked the Cenotaf characters concept but just didn’t enjoy the movies. I’ll probably give it a shot

Never seen a second of the movies. Would I like them?

I think if someone likes Candyman they would likely get into Hellraiser. Both are based on the fiction of Clive Barker and are quite gory. Same for The Midnight Meat Train.

Maybe the only negative is the production techniques are a little rough and dated especially some bits of animation. Can appreciate the practical FX though and some where quite clever.

The sequels are a quickly escalating mess though.

I think it was the last one that I liked because they explained the back story for Pinhead and some other things transpired.

Yeah, it's dated. I haven't seen them in awhile. My wife likes horror, but I don't think she would like this.

I think the first two are good and creepy, but they're not the type of movies I go out of my way to rewatch personally. Shudder has both 1 and 2 available if you're a member, you can also watch them with The Last Drive In treatment / commentary from Joe Bob Briggs spread throughout. I think he even has Doug Jones and other people involved int he movies in the Hellraiser 2 Last Drive In episode if I remember correctly.

Only seen the first two but really looking forward to this. Also funny seeing people on social media self report over this new one having a female Pinhead instead of a man. I know not everyone knows the source material for everything they consume, but it's quite telling when the only complaint is about "politics or wokeness".

I watched it this morning. It's certainly one of the better sequels in the franchise, but you can tell the vast majority of budget was spent on the last 30 minutes. I can see this one being pretty divisive, but it's' worth checking out if your a fan.

I thought it was going to be a series not a movie. Anyway, it was good. The first is still my favorite, but the story was OK. I like to see where they go with it.
